I only recently got my gaming pc and this is the first game I have played seriously on it. Well I love the game, I love the controls (am using controller). It did take me a few days to master the controls but once mastered, they are very easy to configure.I can't think of any serious issues other than a quest later on that requires you to fail an optional quest in favor of another to open.

SPOILER V :

Marrying Lady Grey and failing exposing her. I mean if it was my game, I would have made it so any marriage can unlock the door and exposing her was still an option. That being said, she's probably the most attractive female in the game if you want a wife and I would have chosen her anyway because she's evil, just like me >:)

Alrighty,

Here is my fully honest review of this game. I have played the original Fable.. well, a lot, I've beat the game several times.

The first thing I will say, is that this game is almost if not, Exactly the same. The biggest difference is the graphics. The menu system is different/better-ish.

I got this really cheap from King. I wouldn't suggest full price. You can buy Lost Chapters on steam for only $10 if you don't mind the older graphics. Its the same game.

This is a great game. It started my love for RPG games, so long ago. I'm glad they remastered this game.

I understand that some people want the newer game machanics, but if they did that, they might have changed the game too much, and then it wouldn't be the same game anymore. Just like the newer Fable games, 2, 3... I never got deep into playing those games.

(Note: While I can't say I recommend this game just because of the nature of this review, please don't let me stop you from at least trying it if you want it. Fable is a great game, and if remasters are your thing then it's worth buying. But this is a serious problem that has not been addressed despite the fact that I'm far from the only one who's experienced it, so I have to give a negative review.)

The game has serious issues.

Whenever I walk around, the camera is constantly stuttering and jerking every. single. half-second. It's absolutely unplayable. My computer can clearly handle the game, that much I can tell. All while the lag is going on, the background stuff (flowers waving in the breeze, fire, idle animations, etc) are going at full speed. My processor is more than enough to handle this game, it just... doesn't work.

And I've tried everything from screwing with ini files to lowering graphics to as little as possible to making the game use only one core, but it's unfixable. Some people have reported that this stops after Oakvale, but it doesn't, and I couldn't stand playing anymore to see if it stopped after the Heroes Guild.

Even in the in-game cutscenes, I hear the audio play at normal time as the characters stutter on, while the voices play at the correct time, so you have things like hearing the sound of the villager getting shot and 10 seconds later you hear "Got one!" and it's complete silence for the rest of the cutscene except when the characters are speaking. It's bewildering.

The main thing that's crazy about this is how my computer meets and even exceeds the recommended requirements (I've seen reports with people as high as i5 processors encountering this problem), and the game itself seems to run just fine. This isn't even like normal lag or processor overload. It almost seems like the game is doing it intentionally, because everything else in the game except for me isn't lagging!

So buy this game if you'd like it, but be prepared to get a refund (and a punch in the nostalgia) if it doesn't work.

As for the game itself, I'd be pretty happy with it if it wasn't for this game-ruining bug. Yeah, it's just Fable with better graphics and a nicer lighting system. There's also Heroic (hard) Mode, which is definitely worth a play, and the aging is slowed so you're not 40 years old by the time you beat the bloody Wasp Queen. It's a minor quirk that always bugged me, so heyo. Oh, and you can save anywhere. Other than that, there are no differences. I got it on sale so I can't complain.

If that's your thing, don't let me stop you. But if you also encounter this problem, you might just want to get a refund and buy the original Lost Chapters instead.

I’m Rick Harrison and this is my pawn shop. I work here with my old man and my son, Big Hoss, and in 23 years I’ve learned one thing. You never know what is gonna come through that door.

On this episode of Pawn Stars
I got an original contract
that the who signed
to perform at Woodstock.
The who is one of the
biggest bands of all time.
That's a pretty important
piece of memorabilia.
What are you trying to get out of it?
So what have we got here?
Old faithful high-speed washing machine.
Looks real high-speed.
The faster you crank
it, the faster it goes.
Could you imagine bringing
this thing home to mom,
telling her, "this is what
you're doing laundry with now"?
She'd punch me in the face.
I've got a set of antique pistols.
This a dueling set.
They could be worth some serious money.
They look 98% real to me,
except for one thing
I'm Rick Harrison, and
this is my pawn shop.
I work here with my old
man and my son, big hoss.
Everything in here has
a story and a price.
One thing I've learned after 21 years,
you never know what is
gonna come through that door.
[upbeat bluesy guitar music]
What can I help you with, man?
I have a flask, not just any flask.
This one opens up at the bottom.
There was a note in here.
You have a message in a bottle.
Yes, I do.
Awesome.
I decided to come to the pawn shop today
to sell my civil war flask.
I was cleaning out my
grandfather's basement
he passed away
and I came across it in a box,
and I saw the note in
it, and then I figured,
you know, it was worth something.
I just lost my job and need the money.
I figured a couple hundred
bucks would help me out.
So when did you write the note?
I didn't write that.
Yeah, right.
Okay, it says, "silver whiskey flask
"carried by David Alexander Shepherd
"1823 to 1883
"before, during, and after the civil war
"in which he was entrusted with the funds
"of two confederate banks
"with the instructions
to stay out of the way
of the Yankees.
"
Well, there's a whole
little story along with him.
I mean, the neat thing was, I mean,
if you were a spy or something like that,
I mean, unless someone looked
at this thing really closely,
they wouldn't have noticed.
This flask is awesome.
It's definitely silver
and very high-quality.
It's the type of item that
wouldn't sit around long
on the shelves of my store.
I'm interested, because the only
thing better than making money
is making money fast.
Smells like stagnant water in there.
[Laughter]
All right.
You can just tell by
the hallmarks, it's old.
Those are English hallmarks,
and it says "d.
A.
Shepherd"
right across the front of it.
The great thing is,
it's in beautiful shape.
So what do you want to do?
You want to pawn it or sell it?
I want to sell it.
Okay, and how much do you want for it?
I don't know.
I don't what something like this is worth.
I mean, this thing is from
the 1850s or the 1840s.
All right.
How about $800?
Um, it's not too far off.
I was thinking more in
the neighborhood of $500.
$650, you have a deal.
[Sighs]
I'll tell you what, I'll do 600 bucks.
Yeah, I think it's a fair price.
All right.
Okay?
All right, chum, can you go write him up?
Sure.
I'm psyched to get this flask.
You can tell by the way it's made,
it's definitely old,
but I keep thinking about that note,
and if there's any way
to validate the story,
I can probably get a few
hundred more bucks for it,
so I'm gonna call in my buddy
and see if he can authenticate it for me.
[Cash register dings]
[Bluesy guitar music]
 Â
hey, how's it going, man?
Hey, what's going on?
What do we got?
I got an original contract
that the who signed
to perform at Woodstock, the
greatest band of all time.
Don't you hope you die before you get old?
Stone cold.
[Laughter]
I came to the pawn shop
today to sell my 1969 contract
for the who to perform
at the Woodstock festival.
The who is the greatest band,
baba o'Riley, behind blue eyes.
It's a piece of rock history.
Who wouldn't want it?
"New action ltd.
Furnishing
the services of the who
with Woodstock ventures inc.
"
And it's signed by Michael lang himself.
He did not only the '69.
He did the '94.
He did the 25-year anniversary.
It's the real deal.
This is pretty cool, man.
The who was one of the
biggest bands of all time,
and if that's legit,
that's a pretty important piece
of memorabilia right there.
This is the contract the band signed
before playing in Woodstock.
I mean, contracts like this
could sell for big numbers,
and it's not every day
that something like this
just walks through the door.
Where'd you get it?
My mom likes to go to yard sales,
so while we were at one of the places,
I was just looking around,
and they had a couple albums,
and the who's my favorite
band, and I opened the album,
and it was there.
One of the biggest bands
in the world at the time
only got paid $12,500 to play
one of the biggest shows of all time.
Yeah, well, $12,500 back then
was a lot of money, Corey.
I made about $200 a month
in the Navy at that time.
What do you want to do with it?
I want to sell it,
because I really want to buy a new car.
What are you trying to get out of it, son?
I was looking for 5 grand.
Well, you can keep looking.
It looks real, except
paperwork has been forged
in the past.
The signatures are all legit.
I'm gonna have to have
somebody take a look at it.
It's gonna have to be sent off
to a few different
documentation companies.
It's not it's not
something as easy as just,
"oh, here's 5 grand,"
and you walk out the
door, and I take this.
I mean, it's
how about an offer?
I'll make you an offer,
but it's gonna be 100 bucks, man.
I mean, for 100 bucks,
I might as well keep it.
Yeah, well, that's your privilege.
Can you do $1,500?
No, we're not even on the same planet.
I really think the total value here
is somewhere around $1,000.
And after I get it certified,
all that stuff, I mean,
I'm putting some pretty
decent money into it.
I'll give you 200 bucks for it, man,
and that's only because I
think my father will like it.
Top-of-the-line,
Corey.
All right.
All right, man, deal.
Let's go do some paperwork, my friend.
The who is one of the biggest
bands of the '60s and '70s,
and my dad really loves them,
and if this thing's legit,
it could be worth some serious money.
[Upbeat bluesy guitar music]
 Â
a few days ago, I got a call from a guy
wanting to sell me his antique
hand-crank washing machine,
so me and Corey are on our way
to his place to check it out.
So what have we got here?
An old faithful
high-speed washing machine.
Yeah, it looks real high-speed.
It is.
The faster you crank
it, the faster it goes.
This is cool.
I mean, you could lose
weight and do your laundry
at the same time.
I called the guys at the pawn shop
to come out to my house to
see if they were interested
in buying my antique washing machine.
I'm a collector of certain antique pieces,
but they have to be really
kind of strange and unique.
But I need some room.
I have too many pieces in my house.
So what do you know about it?
The construction looks like
it's all pine, all original,
patent date on it of 1892 and 1898.
There was two different patents on it.
It has the original
handle, which comes out,
surprising that it hasn't been lost,
but it has all the original stenciling.
Everything is all-original,
flywheel, gears.
So how does this thing work?
If you open this up,
this is where you put your clothes in.
You fill it with water and
put your detergent in there,
and you would close it and just crank it,
a high-speed washer.
The faster you go, the higher the speed.
[Laughs]
It cranks real easy now.
I can imagine it full
of water and clothes.
Could you imagine just
bringing this thing home to mom
and just telling her,
"this is what you're
doing laundry with now"?
She'd punch me in the face.
[Laughter]
Believe it or not, this was
a time-saver and a luxury.
These types of machines
were really popular
up until the late 1800s,

I got it cheap in a summer sale and i have to say it's a great game full of nostalgic and epic moments. It's kinda hard playing it without a controller but still fun. I recommend it if you can get it in discount if not... if you have money and don't know what to do with it, buy it.

I can't tell you how this game was when it was first made due to the fact I only bought the game yesterday from the time I posted this review. I played about 13hrs had a total blast, and wish they added 2 and 3, but what I have seen is that 2 was made only for Xbox and I can't stand Xbox, and 3 is no where to be found due to it's "bad ratings". Howerver if I was to find these two games for PC that would be great. Lionhead possibly have concerns about lossing money for I dont not know what the fees are to establish a game on steam if there is one, but I do know if they do put it on the PC I will definetly like to continue the story without being forced to buy an Xbox of any sorts.

This is rediculous... the combat is awful, the camera worse. Sometimes Enemies can be focused on, sometimes not. If you're moving whilst casting a spell your whole movement gets srewed up, making it impossible to dodge enemies or even move slightly past them without getting stuck in the super tight paths.
This whole Situation gets only worse by thinking of how restricted one is in the matters of movement itself. "Oh, wanna dodge an attack splitseconds before it hits, but you're casting a spell? Well f*** you!"
Moving through a fight in this game is like trying to fly a solid rock. In matters of controls, this is even worse than playing dark souls with mouse and keyboard.
I can live with the crappy graphics, the restricted magic, and even with the bad timing in fights... but to load into a map and watch your character get killed by some freaking bandit because he suddenly just stands there by f***ing chance tops it all, I'm done with this sh*t.
For f***s sake, I'm furious.

sh*t game.

I personally never had any issues like others in reviews, I did buy it almost 2 years after release, I finished the original Fable more than 10 years ago and was my first RPG, glad Lionhead ported Anniversary to PC before they closed their doors.

I've played Fable: The Lost Chapters for hours when I was younger, this remastered version has a few improvements.
Positives
  • Sound has been enhanced,
  • Cutscenes are ever so slightly clearer...just - you have to squint even with a side by side comparison.
  • Marginally better textures for some items and areas, they still look considerably outdated.
  • Meshes for buildings and objects are quite a bit better.
  • Controller Support!!
Negatives
  • A blurry filter over the whole game - FXAA??
  • The new lighting has completely changed the colour and look of the game. The vibrant fantasy colours are now gone.
  • The new character models look like they're made of wax/plastic. Combined with the new weird shadows, they all look like their faces melted. The main character as a child actually looks like some kind of goblin. This is the most glaring and visually offensive problem for me.
  • Not all of the keyboard and mouse controls can be rebound as in the original.
  • The redesigned menus have no mouse support and take longer to navigate because of the way they're layed out.
  • The game is a port of a port (TLC > X360 > PC) and is very poorly optimized. It does not run particularly well.

At the end of the day, save £20 and get Fable: The Lost Chapters instead. It runs in 1080p, all the keys can be remapped to your comfort and you can force anisotropic filtering using your graphics card control panel to make the game look nicer apparently.

fable was my first RPG game, one of the best games I've played.

the story is very good, improved graphics and gameplay is easy, it is a game where your choices have consequences and you see it changing on your gameplay.

be a bad guy: you will get ugly as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with giant horns, red eyes, flies, hands and feet on fire, nobody want to marry with you, lol, who wants to marry a demon?

be a nice guy: cheaper itens, everyone want to marry with you, butterflies following you instead of flies, glowing tattoos. ( boring )

if you play as a nice guy, your game will be more harder, if you play as a evil guy it will be more easy and fun, oh yes, in the end. . . ( NO SPOILERS )

Before starting this review, let's all bow our heads in mourning for Lionhead: they may not have been the perfect studio, but they had a lot of good ideas, and the next Fable game is going to be a fantasy based card game, because clearly we didn't have enough of those! I played through all of the Fable games in their original incarnations (Yes, even the Kinect one, never have I waved my hands in such fury!), and I had heard that the 360 version of Anniversary was saddled with performance problems. Fortunately the PC version seems to have resolved this and the gameplay has dated really well. Obviously the combat doesn't really stack up to something like Witcher 3, but that isn't really the point, this is a quirky, quintessentially British fantasy game with a lot of heart, and many years after it's over the top prerelease promises its possible to see it as exactly that. If you played it before then its a lovely trip down memory lane, and I you have only played the later installments then it's essential.

This game is $35.
It adds HD graphics (it is pretty), controller support and windowed mode. That is all, at least that I've seen.
The DLC for this game is $25. It consists solely of costumes you will never use and are inferior to the base-game armors.

I've had the game lock up on me several times, unable to progress until I loaded a previous save from about an hour ago. You cannot save in the middle of missions. Good luck!

Fable: The Lost Chapters is available for $10 and includes all of the same content minus the DLCs and the aforementioned additions. Unless your hobbies include frivolous spending and frustration regarding games not working correctly, you should save your money.

I was very excited about this game considering that Fable TLC is easily in my top 5 favorite games of all time. My expectations were simple: that this would be an upgrade to the beloved game I grew up playing. My mind was open when I first played Anniversary, knowing very well that the nastalgia from the first game would be influencing my feelings. Nevertheless, I would have expected my bias towards the series to lead towards a raving review. Instead I'm overwhelmingly compelled to advise other potential players to not waste their money on this lazy production.

"Laziness" on behalf of the developers is truly the best summary I can offer. The graphics have been updated but that's where the careful effort ends. This game is loaded with bugs and glitches. I had to stop playing about maybe 1/8 of the way through because the pause menu got stuck. Let me repeat that: the pause menu got stuck. This is the only bug I'll take the time to mention because I think it's the most telling of how severely poor of a job the developers did porting the game. At some point, for no identifyable reason, I stopped being able to access any of my clothing, inventory, or skills through the pause menu because it would continuously scroll through every tab and option. It was as if whatever key was supposed to scroll down was stuck (it obviously wasn't). To be unable to level up, use items or view quests in a game such as this simply means that it is unplayable.

Take a moment to look up other glitches people have encountered. Even if they are not quite as critical as this they are indicative of the experience you'll have with this game. It falls short of so many basic, fundamental expectations; it is a product without soul or passion.

My final, most disheartening complaint is probably trivial in comparison, but I have to mention it: you can't get drunk anymore. I don't think it's much to ask for -- it was a quirky feature that made frequenting the taverns fun. I can't even begin to tell you how many quests I would go on in TLC with my character knocking beers back one after another. When questioned about this absent feature in public forums the developers claimed that it was "a low priority". They've sacrificied gameplay, gutted stability and tossed away functionaility for better graphics in a new game engine.

I remember playing the first game and having fantasies of how it could have been better. The game was great, but there was something about it that you just instinctively knew there could be so much more to it. I kind of always hoped they'd somehow justify building it out some more, drilling down on the gameplay elements and turning it into a more immersive experience. The Anniversary release managed to step down that road then subsequently run in the opposite direction. It is a graphically-polished abomination.
