Fable Anniversary is a remastred version of Fable: The Lost Chapters, one of my favourite games ever. Except of the HD graphics and menu (which is kinda weird at first but you get used to it real fast) it's the same as F:TLC. Content is the same, it's funny as ever and altogether it's an awesome game. Is it worth 31,99€? IMO, not really, but if you really want to play it wait for a sale (I got it for less than 5€). If you played and liked Fable: The Lost Chapters I'd say give it a try, you won't be dissapointed.

Greatest game of all time. Just dont buy the DLC's they are not worth it they just add
unnecessary items you can buy from the shops that ruin the game experience.
Also i think the Original "Fable: The lost chapters" are just as good if not better.
Great game realy recommend it :P

I've not had any real errors or graphical issues while playing this game, but many years after playing it and beating it in my younger days, it's still just as great now. All i know is my health is low, does anyone have any food? Or potions?

I was about 3 hours into the game as a first time Fable player. I wanted to see what the fuss was about, so I got the Anniversary Edition on Steam. Escorted some merchants, killed a cave troll and got rid of a red barrier blocking the way forward. Went to a previous map (the camp) to pick up the merchants. For some reason the red barrier was back, but the troll is still dead so there's no way to progress. The merchants even have a dialogue about that "rumbling noise" from a non-existent troll. I'm not about to waste my time back-tracking and re-doing a quest for a game that has had over a decade to have its bugs fixed. Wasted money, and lots of frustration trying this and that and checking Google for help. Fable may have been a cool franchise, and I wouldn't have minded giving it a shot, but I'm not about to wrestle with significant bugs from decades past.

I paid for Wizard 101 smh. To be honest this seemes like a good game for a younger audience, but since I'm not of a younger audience, I didnt find it at all appealing. Also, the mods made for this game are mostly Shrek-themed, which is a big disappointment.

Great game returns in a new guise, but with the old content.

You will find yourself in a Kingdom called Albion and will go from a young boy with a heart full of revenge to the great Hero (with a capital letter). On your way to face many dangers, for which you were trained from an early age. I think many people played the original Fable and know what it's about.

This HD re-release also includes the addition of "Lost Chapter". In the game interface and graphics are much improved. Clumsy release control with the X-box can still be felt, but fortunately, everything can be customized to your choice. Colour is good. however, the only thing that gets in the way is a huge number of downloads of locations with extremely small area. The linearity of these locations is attached. And so, it's the same good old Fable.

The game can be purchased for the sake of the ability to kick chickens =)
In General, the game is wonderful. There's a storyline with twists and additional tasks with complications. And humor is present.

10 peasants frightened by the beard of the player from 10.

Towards the end game, I had so much gold I didn't know what to do with it. So I started killing villagers so I could buy their houses and rent them out. This led to a vicious cycle.

I've played Fable: The Lost Chapters for hours when I was younger, this remastered version has a few improvements.
Positives
  • Sound has been enhanced,
  • Cutscenes are ever so slightly clearer...just - you have to squint even with a side by side comparison.
  • Marginally better textures for some items and areas, they still look considerably outdated.
  • Meshes for buildings and objects are quite a bit better.
  • Controller Support!!
Negatives
  • A blurry filter over the whole game - FXAA??
  • The new lighting has completely changed the colour and look of the game. The vibrant fantasy colours are now gone.
  • The new character models look like they're made of wax/plastic. Combined with the new weird shadows, they all look like their faces melted. The main character as a child actually looks like some kind of goblin. This is the most glaring and visually offensive problem for me.
  • Not all of the keyboard and mouse controls can be rebound as in the original.
  • The redesigned menus have no mouse support and take longer to navigate because of the way they're layed out.
  • The game is a port of a port (TLC > X360 > PC) and is very poorly optimized. It does not run particularly well.

At the end of the day, save £20 and get Fable: The Lost Chapters instead. It runs in 1080p, all the keys can be remapped to your comfort and you can force anisotropic filtering using your graphics card control panel to make the game look nicer apparently.

fable was my first RPG game, one of the best games I've played.

the story is very good, improved graphics and gameplay is easy, it is a game where your choices have consequences and you see it changing on your gameplay.

be a bad guy: you will get ugly as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with giant horns, red eyes, flies, hands and feet on fire, nobody want to marry with you, lol, who wants to marry a demon?

be a nice guy: cheaper itens, everyone want to marry with you, butterflies following you instead of flies, glowing tattoos. ( boring )

if you play as a nice guy, your game will be more harder, if you play as a evil guy it will be more easy and fun, oh yes, in the end. . . ( NO SPOILERS )

Before starting this review, let's all bow our heads in mourning for Lionhead: they may not have been the perfect studio, but they had a lot of good ideas, and the next Fable game is going to be a fantasy based card game, because clearly we didn't have enough of those! I played through all of the Fable games in their original incarnations (Yes, even the Kinect one, never have I waved my hands in such fury!), and I had heard that the 360 version of Anniversary was saddled with performance problems. Fortunately the PC version seems to have resolved this and the gameplay has dated really well. Obviously the combat doesn't really stack up to something like Witcher 3, but that isn't really the point, this is a quirky, quintessentially British fantasy game with a lot of heart, and many years after it's over the top prerelease promises its possible to see it as exactly that. If you played it before then its a lovely trip down memory lane, and I you have only played the later installments then it's essential.

(Note: While I can't say I recommend this game just because of the nature of this review, please don't let me stop you from at least trying it if you want it. Fable is a great game, and if remasters are your thing then it's worth buying. But this is a serious problem that has not been addressed despite the fact that I'm far from the only one who's experienced it, so I have to give a negative review.)

The game has serious issues.

Whenever I walk around, the camera is constantly stuttering and jerking every. single. half-second. It's absolutely unplayable. My computer can clearly handle the game, that much I can tell. All while the lag is going on, the background stuff (flowers waving in the breeze, fire, idle animations, etc) are going at full speed. My processor is more than enough to handle this game, it just... doesn't work.

And I've tried everything from screwing with ini files to lowering graphics to as little as possible to making the game use only one core, but it's unfixable. Some people have reported that this stops after Oakvale, but it doesn't, and I couldn't stand playing anymore to see if it stopped after the Heroes Guild.

Even in the in-game cutscenes, I hear the audio play at normal time as the characters stutter on, while the voices play at the correct time, so you have things like hearing the sound of the villager getting shot and 10 seconds later you hear "Got one!" and it's complete silence for the rest of the cutscene except when the characters are speaking. It's bewildering.

The main thing that's crazy about this is how my computer meets and even exceeds the recommended requirements (I've seen reports with people as high as i5 processors encountering this problem), and the game itself seems to run just fine. This isn't even like normal lag or processor overload. It almost seems like the game is doing it intentionally, because everything else in the game except for me isn't lagging!

So buy this game if you'd like it, but be prepared to get a refund (and a punch in the nostalgia) if it doesn't work.

As for the game itself, I'd be pretty happy with it if it wasn't for this game-ruining bug. Yeah, it's just Fable with better graphics and a nicer lighting system. There's also Heroic (hard) Mode, which is definitely worth a play, and the aging is slowed so you're not 40 years old by the time you beat the bloody Wasp Queen. It's a minor quirk that always bugged me, so heyo. Oh, and you can save anywhere. Other than that, there are no differences. I got it on sale so I can't complain.

If that's your thing, don't let me stop you. But if you also encounter this problem, you might just want to get a refund and buy the original Lost Chapters instead.
