A mysterious invitation leads to the attic of an abandoned house. In the room is a cast-iron safe laced with strange carvings and on top, a note from your distant companion. It promises something ancient and astonishing concealed in the iron chamber - you need only find a way in.

I picked this game up once when it was on sale and though I am not much of a puzzle fan it was an amazing playthrough.
If you are at all interested in what you've seen this will be a safe bet. The puzzles are well thought and intuitive. Some were quite easy, others took me some time, but all of the steps made sense in the end.

Solid graphics and music and mysterious little story to tie in some flavor to the game. It was shorter than I would have thought but overall it was a great experience. If you're like me and puzzle games arn't quite your thing, it's still worth giving a shot.

The Room, is a short game but worth the play, it's a room with a puzzle box and diary letters that follows a plot about a mystic box that holds a dark secret, it has invisible ruins and dark undertones that makes it feel like every stage you get to is one step closer to some horrible secret that already claimed the life of a person who tried to solve it before you. The first thing that came to mind was Pandora box or infernal machine of some sort. Puzzles are pretty good and very logical in the way it was built, solving one puzzle opens up the tools for the next side of the puzzle so your solving things in order to take off another layer of the cake. If you like safe cracker or just want to work your brain a bit, it's worth the buy.

Awesome game, visuals and music. The puzzles are not too easy, but not impossible to solve either. The best is to try to solve them without the clues (there is an option on-off on the menu). I would buy The room 2 in a heartbeat if it was available on PC.

PLEASE MAKE IT AVAILABLE!!!

I always want to know how things are working. I like open birthday presents. I like playing with gems too... so I had to love this game. Its little precious gem. I like almost missing storyline and lots of puzzles.

So I am in (jumping up and down) ! Just here, in this room... waiting for other challenges :D

Nejlepší 3D puzzle hra, kterou jsem poslední dobu hrála. Rozhodně doporučuji zkusit!

This is a fantastic puzzle game. I bought it as an activity for me and my girlfriend to work on together, and we both enjoyed it immensely. The puzzles are interesting and innovative. Some are quite difficult, but you can turn on hints which jump in helpfully just as you're getting frustrated at the lack of progress!

The ending is mysterious and satisfying, setting up for sequels (which indeed do exist on mobile devices). The only thing that upsets me is that the sequels are currently not available on Steam. Please make that happen soon, developers!

In short, play this game.

I got this game because it was cheap (few games with such quality graphics cost £4 nowadays) and worth a try. Boy am I glad I did.
Absolutely awesome!
Love it. Not played all the way through yet, so no idea how long the game is. But so far I'm loving every minute of it.
Just get it.

*edit* Just completed the game - just under 4 hours. Not a long game but fantastic value for money in my opinion.

The Room is a critically acclaimed puzzle game where you try to open boxes, trust me you will want to play it.

Now the description is probably not the best thing ever, but it's how I see the game. So the game is split into chapters where each time you try to open something, which takes you to different rooms.

The story is pretty much not existent, but it doesn't matter. Maybe it's my fault that I missed something, but from what I gather you find a box which belongs to a scientist who found out about a new energy source. (Probably got the entire plot wrong).

The gameplay consists of you trying to open a series of complex boxes each containing locks which you have to solve puzzles to unlock. Each of the safes have more complex mechanisms and get's more complex as the game goes on.

The game was ported from mobile to PC and the gameplay is pretty much you dragging around a mouse to look around the boxes and zooming in to find a clue or something that will help you open the box.

The game also gives you an eye piece which helps you see things you can see with the regular vision. It let's you see fingerprints and through some objects.

The puzzles are very well designed, it ranges from really simple to pretty difficult. I only had to go to a guide once in the entire game, so if you're a seasoned puzzle gamer, you shouldn't have much trouble.

The soundtrack is also really good, it helps to build tension so much, that at one point I actually thought something sinister was hidden in the boxes.

The gameplay on the other hand I felt wasn't done all that well. I had trouble getting to the part of the box I want as the mouse controls don't really work all that well. But it's just a minor gripe I had with this game.

The game took me 2 hours to finish and I had a lot of fun with it and I highly suggest you pick it up at full price and you will not be disappointed.

Final Words:

Overall I have not much bad to say The Room is one of the best puzzles games ever made and I cannot wait for Part 2 to come to steam

Pros and Cons:

Pros:
+Interesting concept
+Great Atmosphere
+Amazing Puzzles
+Soundtrack

Cons:
-Mouse controls aren't the best

Final Rating:
9/10

This game is well worth the purchase price. A short game but time and money well spent.

Some comments
1. Originally created for mobile and now updated for PC . Some of the touch control to open boxes feels weird when you are using a mouse but doesn't distract you too much from the gameplay.
2. Puzzles are good but not too challenging, most of the time you just need to be observant, hoping Room 2 and 3 will be more challenging
3. Its a fairly short game though, around 2hrs to complete.
4. However there are little to no replay value , once you know how to solve the puzzle, that's it.

Writing this as a way to support to company and hoping that they will continue to release their games for the PC crowd.

Review on completion of the game: tl/dr: game gets 8/10

I picked up "The Room" as a cheap game to play with only the mouse, using the other hand to keep the baby hammock going while baby was asleep. I didnt expect much of it, but I was pleasently surprised and got so into it that I forgot to rock the little one a few times. :O

So this one makes you use your head. The vision switch brings something refreshing to a puzzle game. I really enjoyed the idea around it of a puzzle in a puzzle to open a puzzle. There are a few places that you face two of the same puzzles back to back, which left a bit of a "I just did this" feeling, but overall, if you like looking for clues, and figuring out puzzles. I'd highly recommend it. 8/10

cons:
- a few repeated puzzles
- camera angles sometimes felt a bit restricted, but not too common

pros:
+ makes you feel smart (or dumb ((lucky for hints)))
+ easy to play for a few minutes, auto saves progress so you start where you stopped.
+ good casual fun

A great puzzle game. The graphics and music are beautiful. And, of course, the puzzles
themselves. If you love complex thinking as means to solve a riddle, you're going to love
this. I know I did.

Sadly, it took me only ~3 hours to beat it. I wish it was longer / had more chapters.
It doesn't appear to contain randomized parts, either. Thus, it's more or less boring to play
a second or even third time.

"The Room" was originally designed for smartphones (touchscreen), and has now been re-
designed for PC. This said, the mouse control is a little impractical at some points.
But that's just nitpicking, I guess.

If I had to rate it, overall I'd give it an 8/10 score.

When I first started playing I figured this was going to be super hard and complicated, but I quickly realized it's not. It's more about exploration than overly complicated puzzles, which is a huge plus in my book in terms of holding my interest. Overall it is challenging without being frustrating, so I consider it very well done. If you're good at puzzles like these, the game may seem quick, so part of me hoped there was more to come, but at the same time it was just long enough to be really satisfying.

The physics are good, and the modeling/artistry is very well done. It makes for engaging gameplay. I'd say this is a game for intermediates and above- I know some people who are very novice at these kind of games and I believe they would get frustrated very quickly, so I recommend it to those who have a prior feel for how these kinds of games are designed, and thought out.

9.5/10 (I wouldn't mind it being a little longer)

This game is not what I expected at all. I thought this was going to be some silly horror game. Instead this is a MARTERPIECE! A true puzzle game. A very well created and elaborated puzzle. Bought it with 75% discount, but after playing it I believe it's totally worth the full price. Hope they release parts #2 and #3 on Steam. Would buy them for sure. Highly recommended! 10/10

Very challenging but enjoyable puzzle solving game. You turn the box around and around just to find anything that can be pressed, pulled, moved, turned etc. Even though you get stuck at certain point, the pop-up hints can be useful but not directly notifying the answer which is one of the admirable point. The graphics are also awesome.

Recommend to you if you enjoy puzzle solving game and do not get mad when finding it difficult.

Remastered original, and a beautifully detailed remaster I might add. Five chapters of awesome puzzles based on observation and logic with an eyepiece to see though quantum flux to find invisible puzzles and clues. Each chapter is a self-contained singular overall enigma designed to be solved by progressively solving a mirade of other puzzles. In Chapter 1 the point is to open the safe. In Chapter 2 the point is to open the puzzle box found in the safe. Chapter 3 starts with the now unopened box which has converted into a much larger table. As the player goes through each chapter the player is drawn deeper into the overall mystery at the same time the quantum compressed original puzzle box gets bigger, changes shape and dimension (literally) and becomes more complex.

As far as a storyline goes it is briefly explained through various notes of encouragement, explaination and clues left behind by a mentor and friend. Me, personally I think I would be upset with my mentor friend after dragging me through quantum leaps and alternate dimensions then not having the decency to at least explain my whereabouts at my final destination. (The game is basically left as a 'to be continued'.) However, this should not be a discouragement for playing this progressive logic puzzle game.

NOTE/WARNING: If the player is having trouble on the very last puzzle (a simple slider maze) and finishing the maze because the piece gets stuck, change the frame rate to say 60 FPS. Being an older game, it seems a too high frame rate causes this tiny glitch at the end of the game.

Puzzles were fun, some are simple and others are more of a hunt and go seek the clue. There arnt any rigorous evaluations of finite clues in letters and the environment for you to deduce an answer. So no getting stuck on an puzzle to later find out it was a ridiculously hard clue to find!!

Only issue i had was... I spent an hour trying to move the blue button through the final maze and got so frustrated i finally went and googled 'the room button stuck in maze' to find out that beacuse my monitor runs at 144hz you get a bug that wont let you move the button at the point when its near to the whole.

Would buy number two when it comes out. Number one was worth the $5

Overall ill give it a 7/10.

A gorgeously beautiful little puzzle game ported from iPad to PC. Don't let the porting put you off, though, the game works equally well on PC and iPad - I have both versions. The puzzles themselves aren't too hard - and should you get stuck, there's an in-game hint system that gently guides you on. If you're a regular to puzzle games, you won't use this much - the solutions to most puzzles can be found if you just think logically.

Again, the game is beautiful - one of the most beautiful I have ever played and while looks aren't everything, in this case it works really well to keep you looking everywhere.

The game is short as it is only chapter one in a series of three (so far); sadly the second and third chapters aren't available for PC yet.
