About This Game

It is the year 2034. Beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside – and within. Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above.

But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for the ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6. A civil war is stirring that could wipe humanity from the face of the earth forever. As Artyom, burdened by guilt but driven by hope, you hold the key to our survival – the last light in our darkest hour…

Product Overview:

Metro: Last Light Redux is the definitive version of the critically acclaimed ‘Metro: Last Light’, rebuilt in the latest and greatest iteration of the 4A Engine for Next Gen. Newcomers will get the chance to experience one of the finest story-driven shooters of all time; an epic adventure combining gripping survival horror, exploration and tactical combat and stealth.

This definitive version also includes all previously released DLC, adding 10 hours of bonus single-player content to the huge solo campaign. Fans of the original game will notice new features and gameplay improvements, including new melee animations, the ability to check your watch and ammo supplies on the fly, and new full-body player animations.

And those who favoured the more survival-horror oriented gameplay of the cult prequel ‘Metro 2033’ will find a new way to experience the campaign thanks to the introduction of two unique Play Styles – Survival and Spartan. The former transforms Last light from a more action-oriented stealth combat experience to a fraught, slow burn fight for survival. If you don't already have this game buy it right now. However if you have the original then I wouldn't bother. There is a slight graphical improvement however it is still pretty poorly optimized. I am running SLI 770s 4gb and it sit at around 23 frames a second maxed out with SSAA x 4. With SSAA x 2 it sits around 45 - 60. I thought it was going to be optimized to run a hell of a lot better but I didn't see it at all. The game is still one of the best games I've ever played and I only hope my money goes towards a 3rd Metro.

Note: Make sure that you've played Metro 2033 or Metro 2033 Redux before playing this game as it takes place after the events of Metro 2033. I have written a review for that game as well that you can find on my profile under the reviews tab.

In Metro Last Light Redux you take up the role as Artyom once again. It works the same as Metro 2033 when it comes to the "Military Grade Rounds" which are used as both currency and extra damage dealing ammunition. On top of having all of the weapons that were available in the first game, they have added several new ones and given them attachments as well making it easy for you to make a weapon that suits your needs.

Metro Last Light also offers amazing character progression, with outstanding voice actors natural movement from the AI.

The same detection system is also available here, combining sound and vision, and it works great.

Environments in Last Light are absolutely stunning just like in Metro 2033. The devs have made an outstanding job with capturing the post-apocalyptic feeling you get while walking on the streets of Moscow.

They story in Last Light is equally captivating as in Metro 2033. Metro Last Light Redux is, like its predecessor, an excellent game worth playing.

You have the choice of stealth, or full-on firefights, or a mix of the two, go the easy way and be lethal, or try and avoid needless bloodshed. Exact your revenge and kill those who deserve it, or show them mercy.

That's my pitch of it, but I think they were definitely going for the benefit of multiple playthroughs being a different experience, but one chosen by the player, and if me being eager to start on my second playthrough with a handicap proves it, then it's true as anything.

The ending, naturally, changes, though I don't know to what extent yet, maybe a little, maybe a lot.
Honestly I don't care too much about to what extent the ending does change because the choices you make, at least in my experience, do a good job of sticking to you, like it wasn't some character who did those things, but the player himself. It's a good example of the journey being more important, more vauable than the destination.

Not a perfect game, of course, but an impressive one nonetheless.
Harrowing, and yet exciting, endearing and yet brooding, beautiful and yet mournful. If there's one thing that the game offers, it's a world that feels every bit real and alive as one could wish. Quite an accomplishment for a setting so permeated with death.

I didn't play the original version, but from what I understand it Redux is an overhaul of sorts. A generally a more fleshed-out experience. They likely upped the graphics a bit, the sounds, and generally gave it a nice boost in all departments.
I have no proof on hand, but I'm eager to believe; it looks like they put enormous amounts of effort into making this thing what it is and there is no part of me that wishes to doubt.

As far as length goes, I probably missed a bunch of stuff but then I'm a slow player anyway, and I got about 16 hours out of a playthrough on Hardcore. I'd say expect about 13-17 hours depending on how generally quick you are. Not a bad length for an FPS of such quality at all.

A spectacular game in every sense of the word, breathtaking and an amazing experience. Crisp visuals, an astoundingly well-executed setting, great sound design, challenging and tense combat, rewarding exploration and a story you can care about.

Metro Last Light Redux is a great extension from Metro 2033. Again it gives many different emotions from playing. Making you really feel for the story and the characters involved.

While Last Light didn't give me as many jumps as the first game. Its still a great immersion and the attention to detail contines like the first game; exceptional.

Last Light has a much more action focus then the first game. With a greater focus on stealth options. Environments have been tailored toward giving the player more options for silent playthroughs.

One of the best games I have play in 2014. I just built a new gaming machine and experienced minimal glitches that were all solved by either restart the computer or restarting the chapter. Using an XBoxOne controller the game play and fighting was smooth and very enjoyable. I can't wait for Metro 3. Also thanks to Steam for making my purchase so smooth.

Am i the only one who cannot take a steam screenshot use F12 of this game? Also everytime i type SHIFT+TAB i am not seeing steam page but only Arthyom's inventory...how could be? This is not happened on my Metro:2033 non Redux version.

The another problem is every time i launch the game with highest graphic setting and 1440p , the game don't want to run, only see blackscreen on my monitor. So i have to run on safe mode version and choose again highest setting on option menu. After will quit the game, i have to set back lowest graphic setting on option and then quit game. Damn...so much pain.

i really enjoy photorealistic graphic of this game on spartan mode. My system still capable to run on 60 fps on almost all area with auto SSAA, PhsyX, and max out setting. I hope this problem will be fixed asap. This is the best post apocalypt for me after The Last of Us PS3.

Sorry, my grammar is not perfect

All i can say is, BEST FPS STORY GMAE EVER. However there are some problems.

The Problems:
The checkpoint system is a little bad
Some weird FPS drops here and there
Good Ending Bugged?
Spartan mode, guns are like pelet guns

I can recommend this game, but the good ending is near impossible to get. I did every good moral choice and I still got the bad ending WTF!!!?? I hope they release a fix for this and hopefully it fixes the good ending part.

Let me just start by saying that this is a STRESSFUL game. I have no problems with that, because it creates atmosphere. But in many circumstances i found myself out of air, running to a hard-to-get objective with a handfull of enemies chasing me while i had no ammo. I was saved by cutscenes 1/3 of the time, but the rest was just the death screen. One thing that comes up alot in Last Light is CONSERVE. You need to conserve everything, if you dont, you might aswell restart the whole chapter. (I restarted 3 times just to say the least.) I feel like Last Light has an evil triangle; If you don't die by lack of air, you will die by enemies. If you don't die of enemies, you will eventually run out of ammo and might aswell die by the lack of air.

You also find yourself alone over 80% of the game, which i think is fantastic for these types of games. It really brews up the atmosphere, and the immersion is top notch. Although i wouldn't put this game in a "horror genre" i would more likely put it into atmosphere and immersion.

The redux made the game better on all fronts, i suggest you buy it at once. The developers really made a good sequel to an already fantastic game.

First, with the Pros:

True to the games' description by the author, this is a horror survival game. Progress is determinded by how well you can survive. Elements of stealth, reconnaisance, resource utrilization and conservation, atmospheric and lighting will be key in exploration and survival.

The gameplay is pretty straight-forward. Hand-holding is minimal, and the challenge progression is non-linear. Even on amateur difficulty level,Metro Last Light requires considerable skill and attention to detail to muster even the very first parts of the game. Its' a good primer for these well versed in first person shooters. On highrt levels of difficulty, the key is stealth, frugality in expending resources and firepower, and speed. Of note is the realism bhrought on by environmental factors such as lighting ( notes for stealth), radioactivity, uninhabitable atmosphere ( reminds you to keep check on filters and inventory), and the various monsters you'll face in-game. Each is a challenge unto its' own, blended into a perfect blend of horror.

This, in my opinion, is one of the best horror survival games I've played in a while, and compared to the Resident Evil franchise from Capcom, Metro Last Light just stole my personal record of a horror survival game from Resident Evil.

The graphics options are modest, and a recent gaming rig with a mid-range GPU should be able to handle the game on Low to Medium, without appreciable loss in visual quality. For these with high-end NVIDIA GPUs, turn on Advanced PhySX for realistic physics. You'll want to leave this "Disabled" on AMD GPUs and APUS. VRAM is also significant on Ultra Setting Details and resolutions above 2k-4k.

Game length: Adequate and balanced. Jump right in and survive. Its' all that matters in the Metro.

Caveats: On some scenery, persistent flickering of textures may be prevalent and at times, intermittent. May cause visual strain. Exasberated by playing the game in Stereoscopic 3D. Recent updates and patches have reduced this problem. However, its' still present. If flickering lights trigger epileptic episodes and syncope in the player, take note of this problem.

If this game actually worked, then it would be an amazing game...itd be the best game this year, but they put out a half ♥♥♥♥♥ release that doesnt even work properly. I was able to get it to launch one hour...thats it. All the other times its crashed upon launch. I am definitely not the only one with this problem, which you will soon find if you read the reviews. My advice, save your money until theybe confrimed fixing their issues,

I wasn't sure about the Metro Redux set so first bought 2033 and then Last Light after playing through 2033. The story is excellent and dfwell-balanced with the action. The graphics are very good and help bring the gritty, post-apocalyptic world to life. I highly recommend the total Redux package. 9/10
