So I got this game in a bundle a while back and never thought of it much. Recently I've been itching to play some kind of racing game so I booted it up and from the 2 hours I've spent in it so far it seems like a nice little decent racing game. It's very bare bones but it does exactly what a racing game is supposed to do, you go from point A to point B while navigating corners. As far as I can tell the game is single player only races against a clock and there only seems to be a small amount of race tracks.

Like I said, it's very bare bones but it's simple to get into, fun and decently priced so whatever.

This is not Colin McRae Rally as I played it back in the day.
If you're looking to bring back some memories, don't buy this game.
It will be a turndown.

Totally different menu/screens.
Can't find Rally School.

It’s a mobile game ported to PC. That actually tells you everything you need to know. There are 3 stages that you will race over and over and over again. There are only 4 cars in the game. Yes, only 4 cars! Its repetitive, boring and not worth your time.

First impressions, this game is real pleasant. Reminds me of the day before analogue control. Also not easy to get right, loved that. I say, why not take a roller coaster ride with out the rails.

Old memories are cool and all, but WHO coded the UI for this edition? It's broken and incredibly annoying to use. You cannot navigate to next UI item until previous one is tweened to the center.

tl;dr: THIS IS NOT A REMASTER OF THE ORIGINAL PC VERSION. THIS IS A PORT OF A MOBILE GAME. DO NOT BUY!

so, the game sucks in almost every aspect, here's why:

Graphic: probably the only good thing in this game. the nostalgia feeling is there, the game looks really like the old one, althought it has been rewritten in Unity. It uses most of the original assets and adds some realtime shadows, motion blur and sligthly better car models

Sound: awful. the car's sound is flat and boring. co-pilot voice has just few lines and also has bad timing causing them to be played too late or overlap each other

Tracks: 6 rallies in 3 countries (Australia, Greece, France) spanning over 12 stages each (althought some of them are reversed). the tracks come from from the original game (so they're good) but they have been slightly modified to adapt to a mobile game: moslty, the road has been widen, but also, all the surface react the same way, there's no difference between tarmac and grass.

Cars: only 4 cars. Ford Focus, Subaru Impreza '99, Lancer Evolution VI, Lancia Delta. the first tree handle the same way, while the fourth outperform each of the other in every way speed, accelleration and handling (which is completly unrealistic)

Controls: bad. since is a mobile port, the game is not designed to take analogic input, so wether you're using a keyboard or a gamepad the experience is the same. the game also supports steering wheels, mine didn't work and i found complains on the forum that the steering feels digital even with the wheel. it's also very difficult to assign buttons.

Physics: bad, very bad. you can clearly feel that the game was designed for mobile devices, the handling is very simple and braking is un-necessary. impacts are broken wheter you impact perpendicularly or just scracth something the result is the same: the car stops. it also happens to crash into invisible walls in the middle of the track or your car start to bounce around for no reason (especially the Stratos)

Damage: broken. the car get damage even if you drive safely and slowly on a tarmac road. I would not be surpirsed if in the mobile version you have to wait for the car to get repaired or pay to repair it.

Game modes: you can race on a single stage, a whole rally or a championship. the career is made of various championship, the first 6 just made of the 6 available rallies, the others mix the rallies in various ways but not the stages, so you'll have to do the same stages in the same order over and over again. the original game was similar but with different car classes and over 12 countries.

AI: one of the worst example of the rubber-band effect ever seen in a game, and it's also way too easy completly lacking any challenge.

this game it's a scam, they tried to make money on the nostalgia of the players with a very bad port of a very bad mobile game. AVOID even if it's free

this is not real bad game but I cant recommand this game.
Control are ok, but graphisms and render engine are pretty low. if you read the other comment, I agree to the fact that this is just a mobile port game to pc. So buy it if you want to collect game (on sale.. for a couple of buck), but not for nostalgia.

Not even worth the 99p on sale, literally just a mobile game. A bad one at that.

this game blows, dont buy it, i had the first colin mcrae for the psx and it was amazing, but this, this is just a cheap knockoff, not an hd remaster, has nothing to do with the old one, im dissapointed.

They surely must be joking, taking money for this? Srsly?

As others already wrote, this has almost nothing to do with the original PC game. It's a mobile conversion, just to make a quick buck.
