“It’s hard to find an honest fault in Nearwood. The graphics are amazing, the puzzles are tightly constructed and logical, mini-games are creative and challenging, and there are enough extras to keep you entertained for hours.”

I just spent the last six hours in Nearwood. The graphics were fantastic especially on my flat screen tv.

I really liked the opening flyby! Twas kinda freaky going up a waterfall and then going down a waterfall on the other side of the mountain ... got me wondering about how the water changed direction lol. I like it so much I watched it several times ... the dinosaur skeletons were a great touch. As for the game itself the graphics were great and the music fantastic.

As for the storyline I found it interesing and liked the different creatures. I've played a multitude of this type of game and have to say some of the puzzles were quite unique. It's not the best of the genre that I've played but I'd still give it a high 4++/5 ... would like to see more from the creators of Nearwood .. perhaps even a sequel (smile)

If you are looking for a true hidden object game keep looking. Yes there are hidden objects to find but you are finding shapes not really items. And what hidden object puzzles there are, are few and far between. (sorry for the cliche). On the postive side what H.O,s there are, are fair. They use no tricks like turning off the lights or giving you a time clock. And the object are usually well placed and not obscured. I played on HO game where the object was 75% covered by anohter object.

However, this is a beautiful game to look at and play. The music is good. The voice acting is better than normal and they have some nice NON-hidden object puzzles thrown into the game. In particular the last puzzle in the bonus game has, believe it or not, a boss fight. Of the puzzle variety. The main game's story is okay as long as you don't ponder its ramifications.

Bottom line, a great game to play between or during your hardcore games.

Adventure/Hidden Object game.

+ The art looks really good
* The story is pretty standard HOG stuff
* The HO scenes are not the standard "here's a lit of items to find" but instead you're looking for pieces of one item. I'd prefer the former but whatever.
- Artifex probably spoiled me, but the quick travel having to recharge after each use was frustrating. But hey, at least it does have a quick travel.

Rating: 4 silver sloths

Finally after having played a few hidden object puzzle games and finding the resolution on the games to be terrible and low resolution we finally have a game that gets it right. Alanware games I am looking at you and your low resolution games. This game is a feast for the eyes and the colors really pop. I have only played this game for not a long time but the graphics are very good. The story is interesting. Your mother has died and your dad is missing. The daughter investigates this.

I would say the static pictures dont do this game justice. There is just so much movement in the game. This game is a breath of fresh air from playing other HOG games that appear dark and are trying for spooky. I am really liking this game so far. I have finished the main game.

While I did enjoy the game. The puzzles and there are a lot of them. I just didnt care for. I would say over 90% or more of them I just skipped. I found them to be tedious and very dull. I still really like the game however I sort of wish they would focus more on hidden objects or give players a choice of some other mini game. That being said I kind of hope they make another game like this. I loved the people you meet inside the game. The graphics are great as well. More HOG or some other mini games in the future games please.

Just finished the bonus game. Great story. I still hate the puzzles. Their is a sad mini match 3 game. I could not stand it. I think I ended up skipping almost every puzzle in the bonus round except for 1. Still a great game not counting the puzzles that I found tedious and dull.
