Dead Space & Mass Effect had a baby called Dead Effect, then Dead Effect got mixed up with Doom 3 then had a party at Killing Floor.

I'm playing it right now and I've gotta say, it seems solid. Most ports-to-PC often fall short but this one...it looks pretty good, the handling is pretty good and I love the idea behind it.
It's not horror in the sense of you ♥♥♥♥ting bricks in your undies, more like a survival horror. It's not over-loaded me with ammo and I genuinely feel like every bullet counts [there was a point where i missed a single shot and took a lot of damage for it]

I'd say it's already worth getting. Especially for the price. Imagine Dead Space meets DOOM 3 and you might have a mild idea of what the game is.

For being a mobile game that is free in the respective iOS/Play Store I found this game to be a lot of fun. Finished the main stor so far and currently am going through the survival levels. This isn't one of the mobile to PC ports that seem to over price themselves at $10+

I definitely recommend this game to zombie shooter fans.

Early Access Review
Dead Effect is an Early Access game that is worth the time and the cheap price tag. For me the look and the intensity of this game was quite enjoyable.

In the past I've been quite dismissive of Early Access titles and this has been based on a few notorious titles and the comments of famous YouTube personalities. It's not a perfect or finished game, but this is one title you don't have to worry about.

The game environment reminds me of Doom 3, and likely takes some inspiration from it. I like the graphics and it runs just fine on my old computer. The sound and music are really good and contribute to the overall experience. The voice acting isn't so great, but it's passable.

At first the game feels really slow, because it is not possible to sprint or jump; you move at one speed. The zombies don't move fast either, but when hordes of them are coming for you, the experience feels tense. If you let a couple of zombies get too close you're finished. A lack of quick save and check points adds to the tension; you really want to finish each episode in one go. If you die continuation is possible, but it'll cost you some in-game cash (don't worry, no micro-transactions or in-game spending of real world cash).

The game does have an auto-heal option, but one must play long enough to earn the right to activate this feature. It'll become clear this isn't necessary by that time anyway. I recommend never turning it on.

Included are 6 playable episodes, as well as 2 extra game modes, Survival and Biohazard. Survival mode requires fighting for a specified time, and Biohazard requires defeating a fixed number of waves of zombies. It's pretty clear from the most recent July 17th, 2014 update that these guys are hard at work. Co-op and multiplayer options are expected to be included if the development team gets enough support and feedback.

For me the game was enjoyable. I recommend it to someone looking for a gory, old school FPS experience. Considering this game is made by a team of 5 guys, I have to say: GOOD JOB!

About an hour in and I have to say it's a good game so far. The game as some pretty cool features, and if the developers work on improvement, Dead Effect has the potential to be called a great game. The achievements earned only unlock after closing out the game.. but the game is only in beta, so I can't really complain. Overall, it's worth a shot to try, especially if you are a fan of Dead Space and or FPS involving zombies.
