“Community is already actively part of Arena: Cyber Evolution since the very beginning (even when the game was so early it looked like an atari 2600 game). Here are a few initiatives already in place to interact with our players:
  • Daily design meeting on our Twitch channel (7PM ET every week day)
  • Open discussion about the design and development on our Steam forum
  • Our design documents are open and available for the community to see
  • Our entire development now archived on Youtube
  • Many people of our community take active part in the project (community management, QA, event organization, design, etc)
  • Supporters will get to vote for the next features we develop!

Engineers' Update - 30/11/2015 Patch Notes

This update is about Build .564 .

First, what is the "Engineers' Update"
The Engineers' Update is a 2 months development run conducted with talented programmers to rework the way the puck and the grab are handled in the game, add lag compensation features, and also refactor a large part of the code on this subject.


What have been done so far
Grab mechanics:
  • The whole grab/shot/pass mechanic has been reworked.
  • The number of frames required to activate a power has been reduced. Now it's pretty much instantaneous on the records to perform an action.

    Additional Features:
    A lag icon has been added in the game.
    This lag icon has two version:
    • The first one appear if an action has been rejected from the server and you have more than 95ms lag. Basically, you try to grab the puck, but as you lag the puck was not at this location anymore when you tried and the grab failed. You should see this icon to let you know that if failed due to your lag.
    • The second version appear when the puck does something on your screen which is not what the server authorized. For example, player A shot the puck into the net, on his client the puck go through the net rebounce and run out without scoring a goal. In fact, player B have grabbed the puck and stop the shot but it took some time for his client to send this information to the server. The puck will be given to player's B hands on player's A client and a lag icon will appear to let him know the shot has been refused and where is the puck.

    Bug fixes:
    • There is now a limit of time you can hold the puck without a confirmation of the server. There the puck location will be force-updated on your client removing the mess when you hold the puck in a wrong place.
    • Hiro's secondary is now fixed and shot the puck properly.
    • Goalie shield bug on respawn should now be properly fixed!

Level reset - 11/09/2015 Patch Notes

Hello everyone!

As announced for weeks now, everyone's level has been reset!

Don't worry, you've kept all your achievements, items, implants and boosters, only your level has been changed to level 1.

What's new?!

  • A new leveling curve more relevant!
  • The highest level is now 50.
  • A 100 Cyberbux bonus at each level!
  • More chests for veterans!

Arena: Cyber Evolution is the result of our passion for this phenomenon and what it can become.
We know that creating a game that is significant and meaningful on the e-sport scene is no small task and this is why that we have involved the player community since the very beginning of the development, when there were no menus, options, or even textures!


Arena: Cyber Evolution (ACE) is a futuristic physics-based sports game in which players confront each other in 3 vs 3 matches of wits and twitch reflexes.
By featuring a MOBA-like champion logic, ACE brings an unprecedented twist to the sports genre by allowing players to choose from a variety of super-powered heroes and what style of gameplay they prefer to build their own team strategies.

Designed from the ground up around the mouse & keyboard, ACE was not envisioned only as a sport game, but really as a new sport.



ACE’s ultra-precise control scheme allows players to analogically manipulate the disk using simple mouse gestures.

Just like in real sports, this gameplay allows for super intuitive gameplay while proposing nearly infinite depth & skill cap.

Arena: Cyber Evolution is free to play and we want it to stay this way forever. We believe that it should be at the core of any sport to be accessible for everyone to play and practice no matter what.
As an independent game studio, we however need some money to keep developing the game and improving it.

This is why we integrated monetization features in the game with the possibility to buy skins, hats and other customizations with real money (but never pay to win mechanics!). For us, this is a simple way to allow players who really enjoy and believe in the game to support its continued development by ‘’donating’’ and receiving rewards for it.

What is a good game? A question posed by the great scholars of not only our generation, but the generations that preceeded us. Up there with the likes of 'Why are we here', 'Is there a god' and 'Why do kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch?'. Up until this day, this question has never been answered. Which is why I'm here.

A good game invokes emotion. A good game tells a story. A good game, is a good game.

ACE checks all but one of these boxes. ACE gets you to jump out of your seat, fist pumping in the air as you score that game-winning post goal. ACE gets you, head in hands, groaning at the incompotency of your goalie. ACE gets you to do all of this, and more. But what ACE doesn't do, is tell a story. What ACE does, is give the player, the oppurtunity to craft their OWN story. Their OWN legend. A game rich with replayability, a game rich with no glass ceiling, a game rich with a budding, growing e-sports scene. ACE let's you tell your own tale, your tale of bounce shots, your tale of overtime stress-fests, your tale of that one time where you scored a goal by bouncing the puck off their goalie. No other game does this, because no other game can. ACE acheives what very many dream of, but even more will never ever achieve.

Outside of the game, you find the company. The team behind, and pardon the rhyme, the dream. Spearhead Games. Responsible for such successes as Tiny Brains, as Stories. As ACE. With a community manager that cares, and a team of streamers dedicated to bringing you the best content they can at hitbox.tv/spearheadgames or twitch.tv/spearheadgames ACE is constantly changing. ACE isn't just a game. Spearhead Games isn't just a company. These two things, brought together, are a fire. A fire that we, the players. We, the viewers. We, the dreamers, stoke. Fuelling that desire to reach for the stars then bring them back. Flames licking at heros. Smoke billowing into the endless sky, the endless possibilites.

I can only tell you so much about ACE. I can only put into words, how great this game is, if you just give it a chance. It's up to you to decide if you like the game. But take it from someone whose not being to paid to say this, but will lose his job if he doesn't.
