While there is still much to be done, we believe that our game is now ready to enter a new phase and we are ready to open our game to more through early access and use this opportunity to make it reach its full potential!”

“Community is already actively part of Arena: Cyber Evolution since the very beginning (even when the game was so early it looked like an atari 2600 game). Here are a few initiatives already in place to interact with our players:
  • Daily design meeting on our Twitch channel (7PM ET every week day)
  • Open discussion about the design and development on our Steam forum
  • Our design documents are open and available for the community to see
  • Our entire development now archived on Youtube
  • Many people of our community take active part in the project (community management, QA, event organization, design, etc)

Arena: Cyber Evolution v0.5 Update

NEW RUNNER - CAPTAIN SMOKE
A new runner has entered the arena! Captain Smoke is the poster boy of the local peacekeeping solutions offered by InSec.
Combining his nerve gas and his trusty Drones, he can control and pacify the most unruly crowds.

ABILITIES
- Right-Click: Launches a gas grenade at a location and significantly slows down all opponents hit by the gas.
- Spacebar: Launches a drone that will try to control the ball, pass to you and your team, and score goals.

Captain Smoke is free to play this week, so test away and please report any bug you find in the Steam forums!

COMMUNITY-REQUESTED CHANGES
- Further clarified which characters and hats are locked (not owned) in the lobby.
- Removed the video that played in the background of the menu. This is now a static image, which should greatly improve performance in the menus on lower-end computers.
- Matchmaking will now search for 180 seconds instead of 120 seconds before filling the rest of the spots with bots.
- Removed the high-pitch 'hum' in the ambient menu sound.
- Reduced the power of the Grab Range implant.

COMMUNITY-REPORTED BUG FIXES
- Parties should not longer get split across different teams when joining a game. If a game does not have room for your entire party to be on the same team, another game will be joined instead.

OTHER FEATURES/CHANGES
- Free Runner Rotation is now implemented. The Negociator and Vengeful Star will always be free to play, but an additional two Runners will be available for free and will rotate on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. This week's free rotation is VexWrecker and Captain Smoke.
- Updated all the "off-screen" thumbnails displayed when Runners are out off-camera during gameplay.

COOLDOWN VISIBILITY
- The in-game mouse laser/cursor now turns green when your Secondary (right click) Power is ready to be used. The laser turns white when it is on cooldown. This is only the first pass of an overhaul of the player HUD, there is a lot more coming to make all of the game's events and actions more clear.

GAME SPEED
- Slightly reduced size of players and their collision.
- Slightly increased movement speed.
- Slightly increased shot/pass strength.

IMPLANTS
- Reduced the effectiveness of the "Power on Pass" implant.

"STUCK ON LOADING SCREEN" BUG
- This bug should no longer occur. If you still run into it, please report it via the Report Bug feature AND post about it in the ACE Steam forums (in the Bugs subforum). Thanks!

SCORING THROUGH GOAL
- We have reinforced the collision around the goals, so scoring through a goal wall should no longer be possible.

VENGEFUL STAR
- Fixed Vengeful Star's Hyperdisk (right click) power on clients.

CONTROLLER SUPPORT
- Fixed a bug where the characters would face the opposite direction of the movement direction when using a controller.

- Fixed a bug where the Back To Home Menu button would not appear at the end of a game if you played a game by yourself with no bots.

- Fixed hats sometimes appearing at characters' feet for clients.


OTHER NEW FEATURES/CHANGES

Both teams will now see the victorious team's dance at the end of the match.

At Spearhead Games, we believe that e-sports are the next step in international competition. We believe that this growing trend is on the verge of becoming mainstream globally and will play a significant role in defining the future of sports.

Arena: Cyber Evolution is the result of our passion for this phenomenon and what it can become.
We know that creating a game that is significant and meaningful on the e-sport scene is no small task and this is why that we have involved the player community since the very beginning of the development, when there were no menus, options, or even textures!


Arena: Cyber Evolution (ACE) is a futuristic physics-based sports game in which players confront each other in 3 vs 3 matches of wits and twitch reflexes.
By featuring a MOBA-like champion logic, ACE brings an unprecedented twist to the sports genre by allowing players to choose from a variety of super-powered heroes and what style of gameplay they prefer to build their own team strategies.

Designed from the ground up around the mouse & keyboard, ACE was not envisioned only as a sport game, but really as a new sport.



ACE’s ultra-precise control scheme allows players to analogically manipulate the disk using simple mouse gestures.

Just like in real sports, this gameplay allows for super intuitive gameplay while proposing nearly infinite depth & skill cap.

Arena: Cyber Evolution is free to play and we want it to stay this way forever. We believe that it should be at the core of any sport to be accessible for everyone to play and practice no matter what.
As an independent game studio, we however need some money to keep developing the game and improving it.

This is why we integrated monetization features in the game with the possibility to buy skins, hats and other customizations with real money. For us, this is a simple way to allow players who really enjoy and believe in the game to support its continued development by ‘’donating’’ and receiving rewards for it.

All the money received this way will be used to fuel the game development. Based on how much we collect through monetization, we will develop the features listed in our stretch goals.

Graphiquement, c'est du cell-shading et j'avouerais que je suis pas particulièrement fan du style mais pourtant le gameplay efface tout à-priori une fois la partie lancée.

La prise en main est simple mais maitriser le disque dans une situation de passe/récupéreration/dribble demandera de la pratique. Rien de plus grisant ensuite que de prendre en défaut l'adversaire grâce à certaines combinaisons (passe en 1-2, pouvoirs ciblés) exécutées en un éclair !

Par contre le tuto m'a paru un peu rébarbatif et je crois qu'il sera souvent zappé pour se lancer directement dans une partie !

On peut choisir de jouer contre des bots (3 niveaux de difficultés) ou de vrais joueurs (en faisant une recherche ou en en créant une)... même si je conseillerais au départ les bots pour se faire la main ! On peut même choisir d'être simple spectateur !

On a pour le moment le choix qu'entre 5 persos possédant chacun des compétences bien différentes qui permettront de potentiels combinaisons spectaculaires au sein d'une équipe expérimentée. Le teamplay est essentiel parce qu'essayer de marquer en solo est quasiment voué à l'échec... Sauf si l'équipe adverse est complètement inexpérimentée !

Maintenant, le seul aspect qui peut paraître inquiétant sont les implants qui permettent d'obtenir des boosts pour soi ou même toute l'équipe. Jusqu'à maintenant ils sont uniquement accessibles par le biais d'argent gagné en jeu et une fois les paliers (niveaux) passés. Espérons que ça ne changera pas...

Pour le moment très peu de joueurs passent sur le jeu (sauf lors du twitch chaque soir) mais l'accès anticipé devrait régler ça très prochainement...

Une dernière chose : Les développeurs sont très à l'écoute de nos retours. Le jeu a évolué en grande partie grâce à ça ! Au final ce jeu sera aussi un peu le nôtre ;-)

Concept sympa, des Bugs mais c'est normal, regle du jeu simple mais..... cette maniabilité est vraiment horible, c'est Lent, ça patine pour faire demis tour, vraiment pas agréable.
