About This Game

On June 28, 1914 in the center of Saraevo Gavrilo Princip shot Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife. Those shots began one of the bloodiest wars in the history of mankind the First World War. For four long years the earth trembled from gun explosions, the air was whistling with bullets and the sky was covered with smoke and ashes. It was the first war with such amount of troops to take part in it and with military operations going on earth, in the skies and seas, even under the water. Weapons of mass destruction were used for the first time.
The Entente WWI Battlefields gives a chance to see it with your own eyes and try to change the history. Choosing one of five available countries of this real time strategy game (France, Germany, Russia, Austro-Hungary, England) players get under command troops with various units starting from infantry and cavalry and ending with battleships. All units were made true from historical point of view by using archive documents and photos. Every nation has its own features, which allow you to use strengths and weaknesses of troops from different states.
Economic and military advisors are present in the game to facilitate control over economic and military development. Advisors assist in upgrades, obtaining resources and producing units. There are more than 1000 structures on the map and 80000 units, 3D sound and full encyclopedia of armament that give a chance to feel like high military commander entrusted with the fate of the nations.

Main Features:

Works just fine on my laptop (windows 7 64 bit, Geforce GT 540M, widescreen). Original version I had worked great on Windows 98, but used to crash terribly on Windows XP and flickered badly, this one works also has some minor flickering in menus, but nothing too serious. Widescreen support doesn't exist, but that's really not that much of a surprise. Multiplayer seems to be down, it was powered by GameSpy if I recall correctly, so it's not a surprise, I guess.
For those who have issues - install directx version suggested in forums, use compability mode and don't forget it's a game from era that is kinda hard to play on modern PCs without tweaking, as developer can't really give you a DOS BOX and just emulate old hardware.
Gameplay wise it's a great strategy surviving the trial of time well, especially when there are not that many WW1 strategies out here at all. It is lacking trench warfare so it's impossible to call it realistic, but otherwise amount of troops on screen and the variety of the game is really impressive.

It would be fun, if it would work for Windows 7/8 with no problem. Until it is not updated or fixed, better play it on XP or do something about the problem with it, or don't buy it at all.

Ok for the price, this game is great! Sure it’s not that smooth and the controls are kinda wonky. But other than that it’s pretty solid. The AI isn’t too bad and the Historical accuracy is quite impressive. It has enough variety unit wise to make for a nice mixed combat. Not to mention it has both air and sea units. The graphics aren’t the best, but they will do. I don’t see why any strategy enthusiast shouldn’t play this game.

I've played Entente a long time ago and bought this game just from nostalgia but not surprizingly this game hasn't been optimised for ♥♥♥♥. I played on Windows 8 first and was welcomed to a frozen screen, later I tried playing on Windows 7 and the sound quality for the menu was wierd and choppy which suggests old files weren't improved or changed. The main problem I faced is that the game wasn't optimised for ATI engines and if you would look at the community hub and check gameplay pics you'll see the major problem the game is facing. Buying the game for $1.99 is a great deal BUUUUUT your sopost to optimise the game first and because it's unplayable it better of not getting it all.

The game runs on Windows 7. The menu flickers a bit like some old games do- I think it's a GDI problem or something. The resolutions you can choose are all 4:3, no widescreen, 1600x1200 is the top one, though I'm going from memory since the screenshots/steam overlay don't work.

When you start a game there's some really nasty graphic corruption on the screen- black blocks and/or tiles randomly in the wrong place. If you scroll the screen off then back again it fixes it though and doesn't seem to happen again in the level.

Levels are huge and there's buildings to make and resources, very much like in AoE,AoM etc.

This game is basically Cossaks but with World War 1 sprites. The UI is horrendus and the game is not optimized for modern OSes. However most of its flaws are inherit with Cossaks and the other games using its engine such as Conquest of the Americas, as all of these games suffer from the same graphical glitches and poor optimization.

The Art portion of the game is fantastic, if a bit dated, but you can tell a lot of care went into the artwork for the individual vehicles, soldiers and buildings.. Sadly they went really cheap on UI and it shows.. This UI is just terrible!

Gameplay wise, its Cossaks. I wish there were trenches in the game, sadly there are not. However this doesn't deter you from just spamming bunkers, outposts ect to create the illusion of them. And artillery is an absolute blast to use in this game, more so than in the previous Cossaks game.

The AI works pretty well. Though it does annoy me that the formations system from Cossaks has not translated over to this game, meaning most of your armies tend to just form massive blobs of death.

Not bad for $2 though. You get what you pay for really and I think the game is priced very fair for what is on offer here. You'll get a few hours of enjoyment out of it. But if you already own Cossaks, you'd probably just stick to that.. This game isn't anything you haven't seen already.. granted its got Planes and Tanks.. which is pretty cool and all.. but mechanically they're not that crucial to the game. They still play like any other artillery or cavalry unit, just with more HP or faster moving.

A great World War 1 clone of the classic Cossack serie, soldiers will be falling like flies and building will blow up, to bad there is no trenches but it's a really fun strategy game 8/10

What a pity! I know that I would enjoy playing this game but sad to say, it does not work in Windows 8.1 64-bit! Steam failed to fix this issue. I tried running in compatibility mode Windows XP, ran it as an administrator but it still would not work!

I should not recommend this game. However, I am recommending this game to players who have an older computer system. Besides, it is not fair not to recommend this game just because it is not suited for newer machines.

I just hope that Steam would fix this issue but I am hoping against hope.

Entente is one of those under rated games in my opinion. I played this a lot a few years back, and the entire Great War setting is something i feel needs more games. Not to the extent of World War 2, mind you. So graphicly, its old. From the same vein as Cossacks and American Conquest (Both games sit in my game pile, proudly i might add) There is problems with it running on modern machines. I am currently running it on Vista, aside from a few annoyances the game runs fine. Even though the game is said to work on XP (and older) and 7. If you like games such as Cossacks (Cossacks two lovers, sorry its more like Cossack one) or American Conquest. Put some money down and play one of the finest World War 1 strategy games.
