Sobre este jogo

In desperation, the jarl of Jarnvidr has called for a Heroine, to stand against the forces of frost and put an end to the lasting winter. Her might, sorcery, and cunning may be humanity’s last resort. Are you up to the task, or will you die trying?

Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok is an adventure / RPG hybrid. Like in many adventure games, you have a world to save, and must use your wit, guile and inventory to puzzle your way through.

Like in many roleplaying games, you can customize your character with various classes and skills, and must train yourself in combat to stand a chance against the fierce monsters in your way.

The game is designed in the spirit and atmosphere of the classics, and strives to have the same high quality of art, music, and plot. With multiple character classes and several solutions to many puzzles for further replayability.

Heroine's quest is a fantastic epic adventure/rpg hybrid with excellent artwork, writing, music, and voice acting. Not only that, but it is available for the amazing price of FREE, and puts lots of paid games to shame with its wealth of content and production values.

There are 3 variations to your character (warrior, sorceress, rogue) which allows you to tackle obstacles and puzzles within the spectrum of full blooded violence to subtle subterfuge, providing lots of gameplay differences and replayability.

You can tell a lot of dedication, hard work, and love went into this at every stage of the game. Highly recommended for any adventure or RPG fans.

What?!?

This game is totally free...

Good voice acting, made me laugh out loud twice within an hour, and an homage to Hero's Quest (which was the EGA version of Quest for Glory 1 which had to change its name because of a copyright infringment by Sierra from the Milton Bradley company with a board game based on the same name).

WHAT??!

Friggin' good, yo.

Great Point and click/action adventure game with some great problem solving situations. teaching scenarios and action with moral decisions depending on your class. Also depending on the class you play the situations are handled diffrently. Awesome soundtrack & story^ If you like/love the Kings Quest series or Quest for Glory this one's for you! It is a mixture of both & Stoic as all can be, if you have not heard of those try em! They all three rock!

81 hours ive put into this, and I didn't pay a dime.

How is this free? I am going to donate 50$ to the developers right now. It's perfect. If you liked Quest for Glory at all, this is what you've been waiting for since QFG5's ending.

This is an old school game based on the hero's quest series. I have to say the first day in game is absolutely BRUTAL as you will constantly die trying to survive for food and warmth. Then the game opens up and you have to save the kingdom from an ice giant and an evil troll. It is mostly a mixture of adventure game puzzles and wasd attacks on enemies. A bunch of the puzzles suffer from 80s-90s style complexity and you will need a guide. But the game itself was fun. 7/10

A wonderful game, especially for those who loved the old Hero's Quest/Quest for Glory games. This is a great hommage, but also adds a lot of additional own ideas. Also, it is great to have norse mythology represented so faithfully. I just love this one. I played it when it was available over the dev's homepage and now discovered it here on Steam. I think I'll play it again.

You should play this for the wonderfully pixeled art alone, but it's also a really fun adventure/RPG mix. Definitely recommended.

So You Want to Be a Hero

This game is a love letter to the point-and-click adventure games that made Sierra a household name for us older people. Even the title of the game, Heroine's Quest, is a reference to Hero's Quest (later renamed Quest for Glory due to copyright issues with the board game HeroQuest), which is clearly the game's biggest influence. If you were a fan of Quest For Glory, King's Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest, or even Leisure Suit Larry, you owe it to yourself to install this game immediately. If not, it's free, and I still recommend it for anyone who enjoys adventure games.

Another fun throwback to the Sierra Online days of adventure gaming. Admission of guilt: I thought it was called Herroin Quest for the first five minutes. I searched and searched but could not find any drug drops. It is free and it has Steam trophies.

I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of praise for this wonderful game.

I downloaded Heroine’s Quest a year or so ago from the Crystal Shard site and I can honestly say—not only does it capture the very best of what it was like to play those classic point-and-click adventures from Sierra—it was one of the most enjoyable gaming experience I’ve had in a long time.

If you loved those old-school Sierra games, you’ll enjoy this too. It could even be argued that HQ improves upon the Quest for Glory games that clearly inspired it in a couple of aspects: For one, it’s insanely long (in a satisfying way). It’s got to be at least twice the length of any of the QFG’s. Two, it seems to me there’s an even greater difference in puzzle variation depending on whether you choose to play as a thief, magic user or fighter.

The first thing people note about Heroine’s Quest is how “retro” it is. You point and click, the character sprites roam about on fixed background "rooms," and the graphics are very simple. Rather than being detriments, I think these elements are key to why this game is just so darn enjoyable. I find such stylized characters and settings to be transporting—like that teddy bear you had as a child that you projected your own imagination onto. There’s something in these sprites that tickles the fancy and takes you to that “cozy” place much more effectively than any uncanny-valley cutting age game could. It’s also just cute watching these sprite-figures with their beady eyes conveying emotions; it's that same cute you get from playing LEGO games.

The old-school interface is also a plus. This is the kind of gaming in which you’re encouraged to simply click where you want the character to go, and then observe things unfold. It becomes this relaxing, contemplative experience in a way that your run-of-the-mill direct-control game couldn't provoke. [In this day and age, that feels like a renegade concept. Imagine a leisure activity that actually feels leisurely!] In Heroine’s Quest, the sense that you’re basically just kicking back and reading a book is so strong that there were times when I was stuck on a puzzle, and frankly, I didn’t mind. I was enjoying being stuck and simply wondering about the possibilities of what I could try next.

MINOR CONS: I don’t have any big complaints about this game. If you know what you’re getting into—i.e. you aren’t expecting Half-Life 3—then you'll probably enjoy it. (And yes, it does seem necessary to add this caveat. When you read the negative reviews, many seem to share a commonality--they're written by those whose gaming experience seems too limited to even know what subgenre Heroine's Quest harkens back to, and who seem to think that if something doesn't have the latest graphics, then it's automatically bad.)

Admittedly, Heroine’s Quest DOES have a bit of a steep learning curve. By this I mean, when you first being playing, simply getting the Heroine to survive outside the town gates is a real challenge. (The game takes place during an eternal winter.) Crystal Shard perhaps should've made it clearer to the player right off the bat that finding food and staying warm would (at least initially) be a top priority--perhaps this would've minimized the number of folks who seemed to have quit HQ awfully fast before giving it a fair shake.

Well, don’t let yourself get frustrated. Just think of it as one of the game’s “puzzles.” In fact, I think for the first several game days you’re not even *supposed* to be able to survive for long traipsing around the woods. (You’re going to see the, “You’re the coolest Heroine around” death pun a lot.) It’s a challenge you have to gradually overcome. (There are inventory items and methods you’ll discover as you progress which make standing up to the elements much easier.)

In other words, folks, please don't boot up the game for the first time and ignore all conversation and exploration, run immediately into the wilderness looking for some awesome videogame action, and then complain about why your character died so fast.

Another possible negative for some: the tongue-twisting Norse/Scandinavian sounding names with 4 consonants in a row are a bit confusing at first. But you get used to it. (I do recommend you keep a little notebook handy—just like we used to do with the classic adventure games. It helps you keep the characters straight, and remember whatever “missions” you’re currently on.)

A STEAL: Did I mention this game is, insanely, free? If that isn’t the very definition of “bang for your buck,” I don’t know what is. I do hope that there is a sequel to Heroine’s Quest in the future. I would gladly pay for a second go-round. (As it is, I made sure to make a reasonable “donation” to the Crystal Shard site when I realized how much I was enjoying the game.) And if these guys ever want to start a Kickstarter to fund one, I can promise I'll be first in the backer line.

This game is worth playing, particularly given that it's free. Heroine's Quest is of a good enough quality that it could be considered a proper entry in the original Quest for Glory series. It's a well-crafted look back at an era of games that we haven't seen for a long time, but it can very much stand on its own independent of any nostalgia. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=676581163 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=602493706

This is a fantastic game. I did not expect it from a game I've never really heard of, but it was cheap and looked cute so I bought it on super sale.

The game is a classic rpg with pixelated graphics. The game takes place in a vikingstyle world with a lot of mentioning of the norse gods and myths. You paly as either a warrior, a sorceress or a rogue and your goal is to wave the world from Ragnarok.

There are really two ways to play this; making your own way around the world and exploring for yourself, or follow a guide which will lead you to the really-wont-find-it-without-a-guide 500-point 100% complete game. As these full runs are seperate for each class a realy tryhard wil have many days of playtime in this game.

Sound is good, voiceacting is fine, the humour is fantastic. Really. I haven't laughed out loud this much in a game before. It's full of references, jokes, welltimed facial expressions and funny surprises.

Getting all the achievements is really only for proper tryhards as some of them are extremely hard and timeconsuming to get. This is not really a con, as if you do earn them you've really earned them.

The game can be as easy as you want it to be; the easiest mode lets you twoshot everyone, including bosses, so for a proper feel you should probably set it up a bit. The hardest difficulty is nearimpossible if you go for a run with a lot of fighting.

The game also has a full guide on pdf from the game developer, so you should never be stuck if decide to follow it. Should you still have problems there are dedicated players and developers who all are very helpful in the steam forums.

Keep a note that this game was made in 2012.
It's a classic, story rich point and click adventure game with clunky dated game mechanics, and about game settings you can't even get 1080p resolution, vsync and solid 60fps.

That is a turnoff for me and I wished a lot of game mechanics would be modernized BUT, it's 100% accurate on the nostalgic factor. All these old games we know from Lucasarts (Rest In Peace!) didn't runed smoothly, had pixalated graphics and the game mechanics was bland. I salute the admins for their wonderful effort!
