I own the board game version of this, and was excited when I found it here on Steam. Zooloretto offers a fairly quick, semi-strategic game, with cute presentation. It is perfect for children and those who enjoy a good, casual board game.

The pros: quick easy games, with no setup; a moderately challenging AI; in-game challenges add to replayability; customized items and characters purchased with earned winnings; great "together" game to play with spouse and/or child.

The cons: AI is respectable, but not too difficult to manipulate; no online multiplayer (though this may not matter for some, like me); the soundtrack can get a little bit old after a while.

For $9.99, this game is a pretty decent deal, and almost anyone who enjoys board games will get their money's worth. For the $5.99 I got it for on sale, its a steal, and will see far more play than games I've paid substantially more for.

This game is sort of like battle tetris only with animals, and more players. The music is good zoo music so it keeps you going, there is strategy involved as the game goes on more players are added with a higher difficulty but nothing impossible. The gameplay revolves around a truck that delivers animals, you fill an enclosure with animals and win the game. The replay ability is high since its pretty straight forward without much of a learning curve making it a good time killer that you can quit or play anytime, the rounds arent too long or to short, their just about right, with the chance to open exotic zoo's all over the world. There is customization available and you can buy all the characters you see in the game to play as your own zoo keeper, plus a christmas mode which is time activated to work around christmas.

*The multiplayer listed on the store page means its local meaning I think both people need to be playing together on the same computer and Im not sure how that would work, there is no way to search matches online I found.

Rating: 10/10 Value: $3.99

doesn't support whidescreen
no online multiplayer
Easy to learn
AI is actually hard to beat
Lots of things to unlock
You can only unlock things with in game currency, so no micro transactions.

Overall it's a very nice little board game. 10/10 would buy again.

Short Verdict: As a great fan of the tabletop game, Zooloretto was a big disappointment to me. It's a set-collection, tile-placement board game which is really fun to play. But this port falls short mostly because of its poor AI and the lack of online multiplayer. You should stick to the original game, because this version just isn't fun. If it ever enables online multiplayer support, however, I'll definitely change my review and go back to playing it.

  • As the original, the game has nice mechanics a decent amount of replayability
  • Cute graphics, including variations to the zoos around the world
  • Pleasant and varied BGM
  • Has a shop that allows you to buy stuff that might improve your experience (no real money involved!)
  • The challenge level is good in general
  • Each campaign stage has one or more specific objectives, which might either unlock postcards or net you extra victory points in the match, and that forces you to change your play style a bit

  • The AI is either too obvious and predictable, or too dumb, to the point of frustration
  • Porting a game like Zooloretto to PC and not allowing for online multiplayer should be considered a federal offense, really. If it had online multiplayer, I could've avoided the terrible AI and would probably recommend and play this game.
  • Most of the stuff you buy in the game is useless
  • Many objectives too luck-dependent (eg.: One stage asks you to have 2 baby flamingos in the baby enclosure. For that, you'll need all 4 out of 4 fertile flamingos, which your opponents may get, and, btw, they may not even be drawn during the match)
  • The game flow was really slow for me, especially when I was quickly done for the round and had to just watch the computer play
  • No windowed mode and resolution doesn't go over 1280x800

Bought on / for: I had it on my wishlist for a while and a friend had a spare and gave it to me. (Thank you, Bio!) Still, it was worth trying! I'd probably end up buying it on sale someday (and being equally disappointed).

From what I can tell this is a a very basic port of an iPad version. For iPad this game might be fine... for PC, no.
-No online multiplayer, only local multiplayer, which is NOT made nearly explicit enough in the description. I bought this assuming it had online multiplayer.
-Terribly limited resolution options.
-No ability to play in windowed mode, only full screen, despite the fact that it won't even take advantage of my monitor's common resolution.
-Some very stupid interface/porting issues. e.g. When naming your profile you can't even use the keyboard to input, you're forced to click on the onscreen keyboard, like you would on a tablet.
