I've played Marine Sharpshooter 1, 2, and 3 (not 4 because i didnt even know it existed until 2 years ago) and i've gotta say, out of all 3 i like this one the most. No, its not a good game and i wouldnt recommend you buy this unless its on sale like it is as im writing this review, the AI is terrible, they run at you and sometimes completely ignore you, they are also very inaccurate. the one thing they improved on from the first game was the spotter, in the original game the spotter is about as bad as your enemies, he even gets in front of your scope sometimes as you pull the trigger causing you to kill him and fail the mission, but they fixed that in this game which is a plus i guess. All in all its fun but only if you play it in small sessions and if you can get pass some of the games faults.

This title is one of astounding achievements to grace the Earth, and clearly, the developers were inspired by some sort of divine intervention because there is no other plausible explanation for this masterpiece. The beginning starts out slow but it gets rapidly better as the game moves on.

The story is simply amazing! Allow me to give you the rundown just so you can hear about it in case you don't buy!

Meet Jack "Rambo Stereotypical American Bad Voice Acting Soldier Guy with big gun" Bauer, a Russian-American Sniper Elite originally trained by America's Delta Force and the Navy Seals, and while he was going to join with Delta Force as one of its most elite marksman, the joint chiefs saw a brighter future than even so for him. And so the joint chiefs created an entirely seperate unit for Bauer and another elite soldier, Sergeant Jack Daniels Cooper, someone so well trained and rehearsed in the art of marksmanship that he can't actually hit anything! In fact he is so powerful and elite that he weakens the 7.62 rounds he fires out of his M14 to the strength equivalent of tossing dog excretions at a M1 Abrams battle tank! Together, he and Jack Bauer journey to the jungle of Africa where they attempt to rescue the President of Africa! Now, on their mission to save the president of Africa, they must remain unseen ghosts in the night or they will be destroyed...but then they realised that their enemies couldn't hit ♥♥♥♥ and proceeded to terminate half the population of Africa under the ROE. Eventually after killing every else blah blah blah, some German Mecenaries etc. etc. etc. bang bang pew Murica n' stuff idk pow pow.... they finally rescued the president of Africa! But then realised that they murdered 90% of Africa and seemed to have not followed the ROE to any extent. Oh, and also Sgt. Cooper and Jack Bauer had their retinas explode due the amazing -4k graphic fidelity of the game they were in. Oh, and Cooper also was reincarnated 1,000,000,000,000 times after being riddle with approximately 999,999,999,999,999 AK-47 rounds after refusing to open fire 1,000,001032914239818092748013784912 times after being named as the slowest man in the world. So slow that his and every other enemy's legs move faster than they are actually going. Um......something something MURICA.....uhhhh...I'm thinking....ohhhh...I forgot -also the world explodes and they fall into an alternate universe where they become Space Marine Sharpshooter {repeat Story with sci-fi details} um...also empenadas! Seriously....don't buy this game...it's not worth 99 cents....its not worth the braincells you expend to play it....-10/10 would spotter again
Did I mension how many African rebels you kill on your way...literally over four hundred...there is no stealth factor at all unless you mean those braindead AI who stare at you for 5 seconds before processing you going to kill them.

This is one I actually remember playing back in the day on my 800MHz Pentium III computer. Even back in the day, it was still a piece of crap. While better than the first game and especially the future titles, it's still slow and looks like crap. The slow pace of the game is definitely a big issue for me. True, snipers have to be slow in order to not be detected, but it's too slow for my tastes. The game is also way too easy. Even on the hardest difficulty, it takes no effort to take down enemies. You could basically shoot anywhere, and you can take them down easily. Not to mention, the AI are pathetic. Even if they've detected you, it'll take them like seven seconds to finally shoot you.

It's all bad. The icing on the cake though is for some reason, with this Steam release, the default jump key (the spacebar) also takes a screenshot. I fixed this by mapping Steam's screenshot shortcut to a button other than a Function button (You could, alternatively, disable the Steam overlay). In this case, I mapped it to the V button since it was right there next to my main buttons and it wasn't used for anything else. It's really stupid.

Basic Information
  • Title: Marine Sharpshooter II: Jungle Warfare
  • Genres: Adventure, Casual & Indie
  • Developer: Jarhead Games
  • Publisher: KIDD LTD. & Funbox Media LTD.l
  • Release Date: The 22nd of June, 2004

General Impression

Marine Sharpshooter II: Jungle Warfare has a lot potential for being a pretty nice game. However, there are so many negative points that I can’t recommend it. The graphics and the textures are somewhat decent. The atmosphere happens from various jungles to African cities. They are pretty long and have many enemies. The audio is decent, but the music… it is variable from an environment from another, but it literally is playing forever, instead of changing, depending of the status of the moment. The gameplay is very linear, all you have to do is to quick scope dumb enemies. The story also has some potential for being pretty nice, but however, the superficiality of it is simply making it uninteresting. The user interface is decent, with no special effects. The controls are pretty simple and good, except with one thing: why would the sniper scope be the scroll wheel? Really, developers? I have never met something like this in any other sniper-alike games. The engines are not very well-optimized, the game is simply having many issues. The mechanics are pretty boring, and the enemies move dumb… they run towards you, and all you have to do is to quick scope them. Basically, this game is just too simple and broken. Overall, this game would have been a pretty nice game if there would be more gameplay content and well-optimizes engines and mechanics. In its current state, I can’t recommend it, and I doubt this game will be ever fixed, especially due to having already 12 years of existence. The developers had a lot of time to fix the game and to add more gameplay content, but they didn’t. I played the whole game, I gave it so many chances, yet it failed. If you don't want much gameplay content and if you don't care of this game having so many issues, go ahead and give it a try. However, I don't recommend buying it at this price tag.

Positive Points
  • Somewhat decent graphics and textures
  • The music differs from an environment to another
  • A decently designed user-interface
  • The controls are simple
  • It has many missions

Neutral Points
  • Steam trading cards and achievements would improve the game

Negative Points
  • Sometimes the music simply doesn’t work, and when it does it literally keeps going on like it’s playing in the background
  • Repetitive gameplay, all you have to do is to quick scope some dumb AI enemies
  • The sniper zooming control is the scroll wheel, really?
  • Sometimes the sniper scope disappears, the solution is to restart the games until it works, basically the game is pretty broken and that’s a solid reason for not recommending it
  • You can’t pick any other items or guns than yours
  • You can’t shoot through bushes, really?
  • The AI is pretty dumb…
  • You can’t even pick up ammo, just rarely from some enemy camps
  • The story is pretty nonsense
  • Your team mate doesn’t always shoot the enemies
  • You can’t control your team mate’s status
  • This game is simply not worth 9.99 U.S.D.

It's not that terrible as they say.. But not a good game either.
You just quick scope all the enemies on your way, and they keep running towards you like a ♥♥♥♥♥ idiot!!
They also stand over their teammate's body sometimes, w8ing to die as well :O
Beside that (Stupidest AI I've ever seen), everything else seems normal for a 12 years game, but not challenging at all.
Overall I would not recommend to buy this game, but give it a try if you got this for free :P

Absolute rubbish in every sense of the word. Where do I even start. Budget shooter from 10 years ago plays even worse than it sounds. Graphics are from 1999, not 2004 when it was released. You use the exact same bolt action sniper, pistol, and knife the whole game. Cannot pick up other weapons. The levels are super linear and look terrible. Bushes in the jungle block bullets and you can't move through them, basically making them blocks which makes no sense for a game called "jungle warfare" Enemies just run forward blindly or stand around while their teamates get shot. On the other end of the spectrum they always know where you are so if you try and sneak it basically will never work. Ammo is not picked up off bodies but in certain specific spots the developers chose. You face ridiculously high amounts of enemies each part where you just headshot them from far away, sometimes which doesn't kill them even though it hits them in the head. I got to a basically unbeatable sand level where all the problems of the game came together. The level is super linear and you cannot go through buildings or open doors. The stealth does not work. The game tells you to stay away from the streeets but there are enemies standing on it and you cannot go any other way but the linear way. When you shoot 1 guy 10 guys come. After having killed around 60-80 guys I just ran out of ammo on my main gun and pistol, and since the developers have no tents or buildings you could find ammo in since it wasn't on the street I just lost. My mo-ron teamate also didn't help, as he died one of the times I made it past the guys. Your teamate is worthless. He runs out into the open, never kills anyone (mostly because his sniper does absolutely no damage for some reason) he will not follow you sometimes. He also will stand there and take a ton of damage and then not use his medkits even though he needs to, for some unexplicable reason. The only redeamable features I can put is that this is in fact technically "a game" and that fun is too be had whenever your spotter partner says to sneak around or not engage with a group/area, and I just fire away and slaughter them all as if to say "fuuuck you" to my mo-ron AI teamate. That was the only fun I had. This game has negative reviews for a reason, trust them. 3.5/10

Hitting space bar, also known as the jump button, also took a screenshot. 10/10

No, but also, on top of poor port, the game just also hasn't aged well. In a game about sniping having a render distance 200m out with a thick fog covering everything beyond is just no good. Also, it's easy.

It's very, very, very, very easy. Maybe it's because I played on normal, but I just shot every guy that came on screen in the head. It's not even that I'm particularly good at aiming, I just waited for them to run in front of my targeting reticule. Then once or twice I got attacked by guys in bushes I didn't see They shot at me. So you know, panic. Then I realized they weren't even hitting me. They were missing. I walked directly into an ambush, and they completely missed me. I have no idea if playing on a harder difficulty fixes that, but that happened two or three more times. Pretty bad.

Also, can I bring up again that this game somehow thinks space bar is f12?
