About This Game

Desert Thunder is an arcade-style action tank game for the PC. Ripped from today’s headlines, the storyline immerses players into the heat of a desert-based military conflict. Players will tear through desert, urban and industrial settings in their experimental battle engine, the Abrams M1A6 Advanced tank that’s loaded with awe-inspiring devastating weapons and armored to near indestructibility. You are the commander of a top secret M1A6 experimental tank division in the Armor Task Force. Your mission was to lead the northern front of Operation Desert Thunder, a secret military operation to overthrow a terrorist faction that has taken control of a peaceful Middle Eastern country. Your mission has been compromised, your small battalion devastated. Left with no alternative, you must complete your mission to reach the capital city and rendezvous with allied forces.

Touched a tree, it exploded. Touched a rock, it exploded. Touched a person, he did not explode. Game needs to be more consistent with its explosions.

The only interesting thing in this game is the hotdog trucks. I blew them up. I may not have the right to speak since I haven't completed the game fully yet but i have 2 hours into the game with 3 more levels to go. Jeez thats a 3 hour game. But the length of the game is good considering you will not want to play any more after the first hour. The fun moments are there when you blow stuff up with some new tank shells/bullets but besides that and a couple of new enemies this game lacks gameplay variety. One tank and 8 boring levels with some fun moments to be had. 2 of those levels are 20 minute survival missions that rot your brain cells with the same respawning enemies for 20 minutes. Its short 3 hours and a boring 3 hours. Its a good thing I got this game for free. "10/10 Its ok. Needs more hotdog trucks." For more on Desert Thunder stay tuned on IGN.

Only 8 missions, and I took 8 minutes on the first - do the math. Realism? Look elsewhere; straight arcade action. AI - not particularly smart. UT2003 under the hood, and yet no multiplayer. I feel like throwing up... barf... guess I did. Bargain bin material. Fetish for explosions? Get it.

Primitive. If you'd play this game the first time, you wouldn't miss much if you just skipped it.

Desert Thunder is bad but in a good way... Yes it's laggy and dreadful. But I love it!! When I saw the "HIP" games logo pop up I knew I was in for a treat!! Like watching boys boys boys by Sabrina in a wine bar in East Grinstead....I have played a few HIP games before most have crashed and bugged out half way through, but they were cheap and fun! I think I bought their whole catalouge in Zavvi for £1. Raise a glass of scrumpy and have a laugh!!!
