"Showed at PAX Prime 2014 - Charming platformer. We enjoyed the reverse experience, playing the game back-to-front."

Spoiler Alert is a video game that tests your platforming skills… in reverse. It’s a comedy platformer that you play backwards.

When you pick this game up, it has already been beaten. The big bad boss is defeated, the coins are collected and the princess has been rescued. Why, oh why?
Unraveling this mystery takes you through the entire game, from the last level to the first. You must uncollect the coins, revive the enemies and avoid nasty time paradoxes. In other words, you must uncomplete the game by playing it backwards.

Everything in this game is so familiar, yet so different and new. You have played it a thousand times before, and at the same time, you have never tried anything like it.

  • 100 Levels in 4 worlds
  • SpeedRuner Mode
  • Start playing at the end and make your way back
  • Classic platformer gameplay mashed with simple controls
  • Beautiful handdrawn graphics
  • Original soundtrack by Roland La Goy
  • Epic boss fights, upgrades and many different and unique enemies

The Steam-exclusive Collector's Edition version includes

  • Level editor with Steam Workshop
  • The original soundtrack, including a new bonus track and deleted tracks
  • The original Game Jam version of Spoiler Alert - see how it all began
  • Exclusive hi-res desktop art and concept art
  • Screensavers, deleted graphics, and more!

Spoiler Alert manages to cram more tedium and stress into 30 minutes than most games tens of times longer.

Looking over the concept it seems solid enough: beginning at the end, Spoiler Alert plays in reverse as you run backwards attempting to recreate your past movements as you go. It’s not all the different from what the excellent Retro/Grade was doing a few years ago, but where that game used time reversal as an interesting hook to wrap a rhythm game around, Spoiler Alert betrays its concept immediately and seems to really just want to watch you fail while wagging a metaphorical finger in your face.

It traps you into an auto running cage and then expects you to somehow predict when you need to jump (your only means of interactivity), which is easier said than done when your character moves like a blob of jello, your window of opportunity is seconds small, and hit boxes are all over the place. The simplicity of level designs and how they get more difficult the closer they are to the start of the game also helps to destroy the impression that you’re playing through a game backwards instead of just a really boring runner that decided to be edgy and go left. No game would ever design levels like this, but somehow Spoiler Alert seemed to forget its most fundamental concept in every way that actually matters.

I legitimately burst out laughing when I exited the game to find I had spent only half an hour clearing every level in the game, as I could have sworn I had been stuck in Spoiler Alert for days cursing its cheap kills and Casiotone Christmas themed mariachi soundtrack (which is every bit as horrifying as it sounds). If Spoiler Alert is a joke it’s one nobody is laughing at, not even the game itself. If anything it felt like Spoiler Alert had come preloaded with its own self contempt, begrudgingly going through the motions as quickly as possible so I’d leave it alone and we could both get on to better things.

Well, huh, I paid less than U$0,25 for this game, let's get this clear because of the following:
this game is WAY TOO SHORT.
I've 'uncompleted' it in literally half-hour.
So, does a game that lasts 30 minutes worth my quarter? Hm, I guess.
It was funny. Really. I spent half a hour pressing A and RT (Xbox Controller, duh) and I liked it. It reminds me of the old fliperamas.
People are blaming it is too short. I'm saying it again: it's too short. >>>BUT<<< it is really funny. It should be longer? Nope. If this game lasted like 4 hours, no one would have patience to beat it. It is a short game for when you keep scrolling your 150 games library at 4 a.m in a satursday and say "HEY, what's this game about?"

11/10 would spoiler again.

No Restart Button.
If you want to Restart a level, you have to either exit the level and enter the level again or complete the level and press Restart.

The game itself has a singular concept, but way too short. One hour is what it takes for 100% achievements. It seems like a waste of a good idea

Fun little platformer with a twist. Extremely short. Took me about 40 minutes for the 1st walkthrough and another 40-50 minutes to get 100% achievements...
90 levels sounds like a lot but it takes 5-15 seconds to beat each of them. Definitely worth playing though! Nice music and visuals too.
