Om dette spil

Spoiler Alert is a video game that tests your platforming skills… in reverse. It’s a comedy platformer that you play backwards.

When you pick this game up, it has already been beaten. The big bad boss is defeated, the coins are collected and the princess has been rescued. Why, oh why?
Unraveling this mystery takes you through the entire game, from the last level to the first. You must uncollect the coins, revive the enemies and avoid nasty time paradoxes. In other words, you must uncomplete the game by playing it backwards.

Everything in this game is so familiar, yet so different and new. You have played it a thousand times before, and at the same time, you have never tried anything like it.

  • 100 Levels in 4 worlds
  • SpeedRuner Mode
  • Start playing at the end and make your way back
  • Classic platformer gameplay mashed with simple controls
  • Beautiful handdrawn graphics
  • Original soundtrack by Roland La Goy

Spoiler Alert manages to cram more tedium and stress into 30 minutes than most games tens of times longer.

Looking over the concept it seems solid enough: beginning at the end, Spoiler Alert plays in reverse as you run backwards attempting to recreate your past movements as you go. It’s not all the different from what the excellent Retro/Grade was doing a few years ago, but where that game used time reversal as an interesting hook to wrap a rhythm game around, Spoiler Alert betrays its concept immediately and seems to really just want to watch you fail while wagging a metaphorical finger in your face.

It traps you into an auto running cage and then expects you to somehow predict when you need to jump (your only means of interactivity), which is easier said than done when your character moves like a blob of jello, your window of opportunity is seconds small, and hit boxes are all over the place. The simplicity of level designs and how they get more difficult the closer they are to the start of the game also helps to destroy the impression that you’re playing through a game backwards instead of just a really boring runner that decided to be edgy and go left. No game would ever design levels like this, but somehow Spoiler Alert seemed to forget its most fundamental concept in every way that actually matters.

I legitimately burst out laughing when I exited the game to find I had spent only half an hour clearing every level in the game, as I could have sworn I had been stuck in Spoiler Alert for days cursing its cheap kills and Casiotone Christmas themed mariachi soundtrack (which is every bit as horrifying as it sounds). If Spoiler Alert is a joke it’s one nobody is laughing at, not even the game itself. If anything it felt like Spoiler Alert had come preloaded with its own self contempt, begrudgingly going through the motions as quickly as possible so I’d leave it alone and we could both get on to better things.

Spoiler Alert is a nice little game and sort of refreshing. Basically, you are a chili pepper fighting aliens and what have you. However, you start at the end and work your way back through time to the beginning. Other than that, it's basically like Super Mario as far as gameplay, only you are obviously doing things in reverse, which often entials intentionally missing enemies and coins rather than trying to gather them. The very beginning (i.e. the end of the game) is kind fo funny and makes the hour long journey all worth it lol.

Very nice, game with seamless gameplay. Does what it sets out to do in stellar fashion.

This review is being made after completing the full game!

This is a casual platform game with many levels to completed and 10 bonus levels. On the whole there are 100 levels to complete! This game lasts for about 3 hours.

'Spoiler Alert' is a very nice casual platform game with a little twist, you start from the ending. Yes, it goes the reverse way and there are 100 levels to complete as said. I found this game fun and raging at times but thanks to the guides, I was able to finish the whole game. To be honest I don't know why it's called Spoiler Alert because it has nothing to do with the name. The game itself is fun but some people would probably not like it because everyone has their style of games. Watch some game plays or read other reviews before buying. There is a problem with this game which basically messes the game up at the ending because you don't get the 'Gold Digger' achievement, to get this you have to delete your progress and start again till you get it after 3-5 levels of gold stars which sucks! I hope this gets fixed soon so people don't have to loose their progress like I had to do to get the achievement.

Such a fun little game. At first I was like "Wtf I just beat the game in 2 seconds." Then I realized you have to play it backwards so you don't cause a time paradox. It really isn't that bad, short yes, but not bad. Easy achievements and trading cards :)
