Who knew playing a game backwards would be so fun?
(Mirachiworld is best world 10/10)

I'm not usually one to play platformer games, but this game caught my eye and was 75% off so I thought, why not?

Took me just over 1 hour to finish it and get all the achievements and throughout, I was enjoying myself. I did get a tad frustrated at a few parts, but that's just part of playing a game like this.

I definitely recommend this game, especially if it's on special.

First off, the best parts of the game are the ending (beginning) comic and the concept itself. It's a great idea for a game, but fails in implementation.

I'm glad I finished it, but I almost didn't. I was really bored, and the jumping is frustrating and really floaty. It's good that you restart immediately if you fail, because some of the levels are just about impossible to do on the first, second, third, or even fourth try. There's nothing funny in the game apart from the concept and the ending (beginning).

I was about to quit, then I saw I was just about done, so I finished the last few levels. I wasn't going to touch bonus content though. It's a good thing the main game is short, or I never would have finished it.

I can't even recommend it if you get it for free or as part of a bundle. The ending might have made it worth the half hour of my life, but I'm not sure about that. One thing for sure: don't spend money on it.

Okay so I just 100% Achievement this game in like two hours. The other two hours are from Idlemaster. For $3.29, I wouldn't recommend this game. As part of a bundle or on 90% sale, absolutely. Easy game to 100%, basically just pressing one button, for jump. A different kind of game so I'll give it a bonus for the unique style. Overall, quick easy game, you won't get many hours from it, but something for the Library on sale.

Really awesome game. Enjoyed it a lot. Nice concept. Would have been great if the levels were longer and more.

Note: Go for the collectors edition as it contains editor for workshop aka more levels.

I won't spoil anything.. Unplay the game for yourself, check it out, and be surprised by the amusing levels, the fantastic HAND-DRAWN art, and lovely funny music!

I have gotten perfect ratings on all 90 levels AND all the "bonus" mariachi levels, and have all the achievements, a feat which took probably less than an hour of total playing time. And it was... sort of fun. But the game is not good. The controls aren't tight, the hit detection is awful, and the level design makes NO sense as a "game in reverse" - if you were playing these levels "forward" they wouldn't work at all. It's just a platforming puzzle (and I use "puzzle" loosely) set up to be done backwards. And the level design is uninspired, to the point where even 90% of the way into the game they're still throwing in levels with only one or two jumps / obstacles in them, no tougher than the stuff at the very beginning.

There are some promising ideas in here. But I played all the way through it not because I was having a great time, but to see if there was anything better further in. There was not.

This game is way too easy and way too short. After 44 minutes I have 100% achievement progress; I beat the game in just under half an hour. Watching the credits is the most time consuming achievement.

The longest level of the game takes about 12 seconds to complete, there are several levels where you just need to jump one or two times to complete it.

You get a gold medal if you beat the level first try, but you can easily reset the level via the escape menu, so every try counts as first try. Since there are no checkpoints, there is no difference except in hearing the first 20 seconds of the music over and over again.

The idea for the game is nice, but it is not enough. You are automatically running backwards and mostly just jump over obstacles. It's a very bad and very easy version of Bit Trip Runner. In the whole game (including bonus stages and everything) you just use the Up-Key to jump and in about 30 levels you use the Z-Key for "actions". The actions are NEVER challenging. The hardest parts of the game include about 3 pixel-perfect jumps, you have to master. But because the levels are so short and you can restart them as you want, you will get these jumps by luck or training within one minute.

For achievement hunters like me, this game might be quite acceptable, since it is an easy 100% in less than an hour (10 achievements total).

But if you want to play a game for fun and/or challenge, you should rather play Runner 2. And if you like the concept of playing a game "backwards", try out Braid. It's not exactly that, but it has many elements of what is on your mind.

To be constructive, what the game needs:
- More challenge (e.g. don't have one "action skill" at a time, but have them all, so you use more than just 2 keys)
- Better level design and longer levels
- Another concept for getting Gold medals (e.g. don't have a time paradoxon, but give Gold to those, who can undo every object of the level)
- I think, this would be nicer, if you did not auto-run; although you then had to rethink the whole concept of the game
- Make more things, that make the game "backwardsy", like: A very high jump move, with which you can reach high platforms (from which the character originally fell down), but if you don't reach a high platform with the jump, you have a paradoxon

All in all: Don't buy it for more than 1€ or $. It's not worth it.

PS: There might be Workshop-Userlevels, that are better than the games original levels, but I rated the game here and not usermade content. The game itself should be good enough for a play and the userlevels should be an extra.

This game isn't anything more than a single gimmick being exploited in a not very imaginative way. You play the entire game running backwards on a 2D-platform, and the only thing to do is jumping at the right moment (and once in a while catching some objects). Maybe the idea is slightly original, but the execution certainly is not: everything in this little platformer has been done lots of time before, and in a much better way. Most of the jumps are fairly easy, but some require split-second accuracy.

Games like this depend for their succes to a large extent on the quality of the level-design, and that's where Spoiler Alert fails miserably. Almost all of the levels are short to the extreme: most only last 10 (!!) seconds. Granted, there are a hundred of them in total, but the final feeling is one of complete desintegration.

Regrettably, graphics aren't great either: they have some retro-feeling, but not enough to make them cute; the repetitive music ennerved me a lot. All in all, this game is only there for gamers who want the trading cards (some of these tend to sell for above average prices), and the 10 achievements are fairly easy, so this one is recommended for those who want their 100% completed list being upped by one. Otherwise, I can't find any good reason to play this one.

Overall score: 4/10

Spoiler Alert manages to cram more tedium and stress into 30 minutes than most games tens of times longer.

Looking over the concept it seems solid enough: beginning at the end, Spoiler Alert plays in reverse as you run backwards attempting to recreate your past movements as you go. It’s not all the different from what the excellent Retro/Grade was doing a few years ago, but where that game used time reversal as an interesting hook to wrap a rhythm game around, Spoiler Alert betrays its concept immediately and seems to really just want to watch you fail while wagging a metaphorical finger in your face.

It traps you into an auto running cage and then expects you to somehow predict when you need to jump (your only means of interactivity), which is easier said than done when your character moves like a blob of jello, your window of opportunity is seconds small, and hit boxes are all over the place. The simplicity of level designs and how they get more difficult the closer they are to the start of the game also helps to destroy the impression that you’re playing through a game backwards instead of just a really boring runner that decided to be edgy and go left. No game would ever design levels like this, but somehow Spoiler Alert seemed to forget its most fundamental concept in every way that actually matters.

I legitimately burst out laughing when I exited the game to find I had spent only half an hour clearing every level in the game, as I could have sworn I had been stuck in Spoiler Alert for days cursing its cheap kills and Casiotone Christmas themed mariachi soundtrack (which is every bit as horrifying as it sounds). If Spoiler Alert is a joke it’s one nobody is laughing at, not even the game itself. If anything it felt like Spoiler Alert had come preloaded with its own self contempt, begrudgingly going through the motions as quickly as possible so I’d leave it alone and we could both get on to better things.

Spoiler Alert is a one-trick pony that wears out its welcome long long long before you reach its very short conclusion (beginning?)

The idea, short-burst reverse platformming, unfortunately is far more clever than the execution. Uninspiring levels with no room for player creativity leave players repeating 10-second chunks over and over to master the exact sequence of split-second moves the game intends.

It would have been slightly less annoying had the devs thought to include an option to turn the music off separately from the sound effects. After about 14 repetitive levels of frentic midi-accordion mariachi hell, I chose to play in silence.

The only reason to pick this game up (hopefully for free or very cheap) is to get the relatively fast achievements. Spoiler Alert is mercifully pretty short, I spent longer idling cards than playing.

The game's entire gimmick is that you play it entirely in reverse. You unkill enemies, uncollect coins, etc. It sounds interesting and novel but after 15-20 levels, it gets rather boring. The levels are VERY short (like less than 10 seconds short), and the hit detection is atrocious and inconsistent.

It plays like the original Super Mario Bros on NES (and that's a generous comparison), but a super lite version.

Your character moves on his own (backwards) at a set speed and the only control you really have is the up arrow to jump. The length of holding up doesn't appear to make a difference in your length of jump. On one level (out of 100), you can actually make him change directions... again, only on one level. On a handful of levels you have to catch a projectile with z (to unfire said projectile). Each level must be completed a specific way, so there is no experimenting, exploring, or even figuring something out. You cannot choose whether to collect a coin or not, or kill this enemy or not. Each level is essentially press up 2-5 times at the exact moment the game wants you to; Succeed and go to a new combination or fail and do it again until you don't fail.

A nitpick is that the levels actually get harder as you get closer to the beginning of the game, which makes sense in a progression sort of way, but doesn't in a I'm getting close to the very beginning of the game but either way this would be difficult to manage.

Bottom line: the game takes maybe an hour to 100% complete it, getting all of the achievements. It takes longer to get all the trading cards to drop than to complete the game. It does come with a level creator but I did not mess with it.

If it's under $1 and you want to add a perfect game to your achievement list then by all means get it, but I really cannot recommend it to anyone looking for fun. 0.5/10
