What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early access is a perfect fit for Organic Panic for a number of reasons.

Firstly we'll get and implement your feedback on the single player Adventure and Local Multiplayer modes so we can really make this a beautiful game.

Secondly, we can work together with the editor tools to make sure that building levels is as intuitive as possible. Our players and builders will be contributors for making much of the content that players will see when they first start playing user levels. Everything is destructible and the fluids are fully interactive (and mental) so go build your mad levels, then share them - no doubt driving players insane trying to solve them, get them rated and climb the Leaderboards.

Finally we get the feedback we need to make Organic Panic a smooth and bug free ride, the community will have a powerful voice in helping fix and shape Organic Panic.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“3-4 Months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have lots of visual polish, plus here's what we're dropping in over the next few months...

  • Over 100 Levels - The full game will contain over 100 crafted levels. Make your way through these challenging puzzlers, then check in with the community built levels for endless new action.
  • Versus Mode - Party Mode, play against your friends in a hectic tourney mode where each of our hero's vies to be the king of the hill, gain crystals and master each player to go up the ranks. This mode's gonna rock and we want your feedback to help make it as mad and fun as it can be!
  • 12 Beautiful environments - Play adventure mode across 12 beautifully hand painted background stages, then have access to build your levels with these stage backgrounds. We'll be adding the environments, together with unique soundtracks as soon as they're polished.
  • Finale - Play the final space level and take down baby cheese once and for all in this unique boss level!
  • Mac & Linux - Hold on, we're almost there! - Just a few bugs to hunt down.
  • User Levels - With the community building, rating and sharing levels, your going to have endless playtime with Organic Panic, lets see if the community builds better levels than we did!
  • Languages - Once we've finalize the text we'll be translating into all the major languages.
  • Full Controller Support - Organic Panic will release with full controller support - Play on your TV with Steam Big Picture for full effect!
  • Achievements and Leaderboards - Help us to set up the ranking system for the level building and sharing and the tourney game modes.
  • Trading Cards - We'll be building out the Trading Card system, collect them all.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game has been in development a good old while and is already highly polished, we've been working with the Steam Community to get it compatible on all systems and we're getting close now. Most people are up and running and having a great ride, many have said it already feels very finished.

We are making regular updates and we'll be there in the forum to answer your questions and respond to all your feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes we will be selling Organic Panic at a 33% discount during Early Access for $9.99 > Release 14.99 (Deluxe with editor) and $9.99 (For the game only, no level editor, or SHARED LEVELS).”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are working hard fixing bugs and crashes, via community feedback - making the build cleaner, on a daily basis.
We are also listening to the feedback and suggestions and will implement many of these - especially ones that make the game smoother and easier to navigate and control.
For bigger feature requests we are keeping many of these on a database for possible future DLC.

MOST IMPORTANTLY WE'RE WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY TO BUILD NEW LEVELS WHICH EVERYONE'S GOING TO BE ABLE TO PLAY THE DAY IT'S RELEASED!”

Organic Panic

It's is a wild grown, char grilled, bash 'em up, physics action puzzler!

Play 1 to 4 magically enhanced organism's (not GMO's), and battle your way through a barrage of crazy full flavored levels, each is totally destructible (real world materials) and features completely reactive liquids.
Lava burns wooden homes down, melts cheddar chunks, and fries food fast. Ice shards crash to the ground, crushing everyone, melts (on contact with the lava) into water, water puts out fire, cools lava, and bad guys drown in water - The cycle of life continues...or not!
Organic Panic is a BIG Game The single player adventure mode propels you through over 100 mind twisting levels, across 12 beautiful hand painted and animating background environments, via 4 game modes all driven by a colorful comic story, along side this you can build your own - hellish physic based contraptions and environments in minutes (with the same tools we used), and watch other players squeal and squirm trying to survive your evil traps, then share them with friends, family, and bitter enemies, but beware they get to rate them and push 'em up or down the leaderboard.
Play local Co-op and Versus with friends - It's time draining addictive fun, where you have to work together to solve maddening puzzles, Versus mode is on the close horizon and promises a new dimension in game-play dynamics and tactics.

  • Instant access - Play Organic Panic right now - over 50 brain burping challenging levels to play right away....with lots more to come!
  • Completely dynamic physics engine - Based on the 'DAFT Engine' (Destructible And Fluid Technology) completely break everything, all elements have real world properties based on their material, wood burns, metal conducts electricity, ice melts into water (that your characters can swim in), rubber is bouncy but melts, Diamond is super tough, and if cherry is standing on it will blast through everything!
  • Groundbreaking liquid simulation - With this technology you can literally fill an entire level with completely reactive liquids, all flowing and effecting the level structures, lava will flow with more viscosity, burn wood and heat materials, water will put out fires but evaporate on contact with hot surfaces, and acid will melt through most materials except glass and diamond!
  • Local Co-op mode - Play Organic Panic with your friends (or enemies) right now - Use your combined brain power to help each other solve mad physics based puzzles and a good side heaping of action blast 'em up!
  • Build your own levels - Use the same tools we used to make all the levels, it's so simple to make your own mad physics action levels, draw shapes, boolean objects, drop in elements (guns, switches, mines etc) change materials (they have real world effects) add pickups and enemies then hop right in and play, watch as everything just works (well mostly works).
  • Controller Support- Organic Panic was designed around the Xbox controller, and full support is part of our road-map.
  • Steamworks- Full Steamworks integration, build your levels, share them with the Organic Panic Community, rate them and see them climb the leaderboard (hopefully!) - Organic Panic was designed and made with this in mind.
  • Comic Driven Story - The single player adventure mode is driven by a twisted comic book, with a hardcopy color comic telling the whole story being available soon.
  • 4x Unique players characters - Play as Kiwi, Carrot, Coconut or Cherry each with their own unique abilities, powers and special powers, learn each one, then work with them in combination. Each players has a completely different and unique abilities, which make for challenging gameplay and longevity.
  • Cool game modes - Play different game modes, Swapzy, Morphy, Choosy, Timerun. (Including Co-op and Vs (to come) learn them, play them, master them, then build your own levels with these different modes.

Great ideas that some AAA games could learn from!

I'm approaching this review and game as what it is, and not a fully finished, polished release product, at the point in time that it reaches that, I will re-review and give my honest opinion and impressions of this title.

This game has a depth to the gameplay, and a simplistic(yet difficult at times), fun that can appeal from ages 6-96, and is a true example of an indie tale of hope from its origination as an Xbox Live title, to Kickstarter project with the abiltiy given by funds to expand to other platforms, to Midnight City Games, with its further exposure at gaming events, to Steam Greenlight, to its now release on Steam in Early Access.

The editor is very robust, and easy to use, the game is great for being at an early access phase for not having everything implemented of yet, more playable than some fully released games I've played. I would put it at the equivalent of a prelaunch first patch that's idea is solid, and fun, and the concept gives plenty of room for expansion to "Branch" in new directions.

Good job Last Limb Games. Having been in contact through the kickstarter and steam with both Anatole and Damon, I know that they are very excited, and open to ideas, and feedback to further build upon thier game into a refined, solid base for plenty of universal expansion with the share area, and have a schedule in place and keep us updated with release plans of future content, updates, and features.

Though a bit long-winded, with heavy praise, I am hopeful that this game will have a long lifespan and continued support, structured updates, and a passionate staff of developers and staff to give Organic Panic! the best chance of success market saturation to keep the community growing with plenty of dlc, story expansions, sequels, spin-offs, and whatever other kinds of directions the creator's wish to take it.

Organic Panic Preview. These are my opinions. First of all, I recommend this game for people who like arcade quick platform action shooter mini games. This is a unique platformer action puzzle game with great physics and destructable levels. It kind of reminds me of Little Big Planet and Worm's games but without the strategic timer turns. I have played most of the levels, which we have access to at the moment. And can't wait to play them again. This game has replay value, great music and sounds. Most levels in Story mode can be accomplished in different ways. The level editor is amazing and simple to use. Many cool tools with a UI well implemented. In the level editor mode there is an option where you can test your map on the fly and press back button to continue editing your level. I like the control scheme in the level editor, very organized. Gameplay is fun and entertaining. The graphics are gorgeous and cartoon style. The special effects are beautiful. There are 4 character which you play with. Each character feels different and have there own abilities and special powers. Controls are responsive and intuitive.I play this game with an Xbox 360 controller. Game is playable, Fantastic price. But remember, the game is in early access and there are going to be bugs.

Don't buy this yet. There are major performance issues - to the point of making it frustrating to play (I can run Battlefield 4 just fine). Sound effects seem to randomly be double volume (ouch!). It generally doesn't feel fun. It seems like a good prototype of the feature list that the full game will have, but it's very much an early access game that you should avoid for now - unless you want to donate money in the hopes that they get things sorted eventually.

This is a game I want to like, especially for local co-op. But it's not there - maybe in a year.

A true masterpiec.Organic is a funny, cute, side scrolling puzzle game by the indie developers Last limb games. The game has amazing physics along with a funny plot and fluent gameplay. Sure this game has its bugs, buts its early access. I Deffinately recommend this game to everyone who enjoys a not too serious game with amazing gameplay :)

PROS:
- Fruits and vegetables are stronger than meat. That's a good lesson to learn.
- Mildly amusing

CONS:
- Performance issues
- Very easy and small levels, gets old quickly
- Bad soundtrack and horrible sound effects

It's not a terrible game but there's a reason they gave it away for free.

Definitely not yet. It took me 10 minutes to beat the first level because of the awful controls. Add those controls to no resolution options and no mouse control in menus, and you get a bad game.

UPDATE: Generally, the game seems to be incoherent and pretty inconsistent, and what you're left without is something a game needs - fun. This game is far from fun, it just feels like a chore to me. It's something I've played for this long in the hope that I'll reach a fun stage, but it's just not happened yet. And honestly, this doesn't feel like an early access flaw. It's not that buggy, and there's enough content for it to be a full game, but it's just not fun. I'd avoid this if I were you - It feels like a finished product, sure, but a bad one at that. As a huge fan of both LittleBigPlanet (Which this game is nothing like, yet claims to be like), and Worms (Also which this game is nothing like, yet claims to be like) I can't think of a single person I'd recommend this to. If I were you I'd call this a day and set it aside as a failed product. I for one will be moving on, I recommend you do the same too.
