What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As some of you may have guessed, we’ve been silently running a large test group with some members of the community since the beginning of the year. We’ve made so much progress with this group - getting invaluable feedback, testing ideas, and more – that we realized how much of a boon letting the rest of the community in will be in shaping our game. We cannot thank this group enough for their passion for the franchise and their contribution to the game, and for inspiring us to let the rest of you into the world of RCTW.

This is why we have decided to release RCTW initially as Early Access.

In addition to providing feedback on the features we are delivering including UGC, the simulation and the Coaster builder, you’ll be helping to optimize the title by seeing what kind of performance the game can provide from system to system. Your feedback will be critical. To provide us with this feedback, we’ll be creating dedicated Early Access forums on our website and Steam, and we will be there daily, along with the Nvizzio team.

It is only with your feedback, your input, your passion and your creativity that we will bring the game to new heights.

Further information can be found in our Early Access announcement blog

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“RollerCoaster Tycoon World has everything you need to enjoy a full-featured gaming experience. As Early Access progresses, we will implement additional features based on your feedback. There is much more we want to do. When this is done, we will leave Early Access.

If you don’t want to participate in EA, we understand, and you are in no way obligated. We hope you will come back as the game progresses. If you pre-ordered via Steam, they will be able to facilitate refunds as per their policy.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access release of RCTW contains the core features and content of the game. Your purchase includes these, along with our roadmap of future content updates and tweaks. All features, like the Coaster builder, the simulation and the overall user experience will be optimized, improved and refined as the game evolves - not only during Early Access, but throughout the life of the game. So make sure to update your game. Throughout Early Access and beyond we will be adding further content, including piece-by-piece custom-built structures, scenario editor, mini-rides and dark rides, additional scenarios, transport rides and more.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game has all the features you need. When you open the game for the first time you will be greeted with 3 game modes – Campaign, Scenario, and Sandbox. You will get to play with 10 different types of coasters (all complete with ride cams), over 30 different flat rides, 4 different themes (sci-fi, adventure, generic, and adventure), a full (albeit not fully balanced) simulation, park operations, stalls/shops/bathrooms/info booths, a terrain editor, basic water, and of course an amazing User Generated Content System with FULL Steam Workshop Support.

We have spent a considerable amount of time testing the game, but at this point it is inevitable you’ll be running into some issues as you build your parks. Trust that with each quirk or glitch you find and report, it means that there will be one fewer as the game progresses. So yes, in this current build you will still find bugs, balance issues, missing features, frustration points, and maybe some crashes.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“At this time we expect pricing will remain consistent. There might be times where we participate in promotional sales but this will not affect the price of the base game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have created a dedicated forum section for Early Access to gather feedback from the community specifically on this phase of the game. As a team, including Nvizzio, we will be participating in the forum discussion and following impressions very closely. This feedback will be incredibly valuable to us as we fine-tune the gameplay experience and balance, and consider changes to features as well as entire new features.”

DEV BLOG #13: UPDATE #10 IS NOW LIVE!

All aboard!

Hi Tycoons, it’s time for another NEW PATCH! As we swelter the summer away, the team at Nvizzio has been hard at work refining gameplay and adding new features for RCTW. For this patch, you’ll see significant improvements to coaster braking, a boatload of tweaks to patrols, UI / UX improvements, and performance bumps! As always, please let us know what you think by posting in our forum! We’re gearing up for a huge update soon with a much-desired new feature, so please stick around as we continue to iterate and improve on RCTW - all thanks to you! Without further ado, read on for details of today’s update!

MULTI-TRAIN BLOCK BRAKES
We’ve made a bunch of improvements to coaster braking! Now, after adding Brake Systems to add more trains, you can adjust the number of trains without having to leave the Coaster Builder. Just go into the Train tab to edit! Additionally, we’ve fixed a number of bug for Brake System behaviors. The train now stops intelligently if the following track section is occupied by a train.

And as fun little aside - if you placed Brake Systems incorrectly you can now watch two trains run into each other on the track! Not that you would ever do that. ;)

This feature is in an “Alpha” state, so please let us know your comments!

PATROL IMPROVEMENTS
We've heard your feedback on patrol areas, and have made a number of tweaks and fixes. In the process of making these improvements, we had to overhaul some of the current system. So while you can still use the patrol areas you've already created, you will no longer be able to edit them. In order to make the changes below, you'll need to delete and re-make them.
  • New patrol areas must now all be contiguous (no gaps or orphaned patrol segments)
  • When editing patrol areas, if you delete a segment that would separate the patrol area, it will now delete all the "orphaned" patrol segments as well.
  • You can now move patrol segments while editing to adjust the shape of your patrol area without needing to delete and re-make segments.
  • The mouse cursor now updates with icons indicating how to delete and move patrol segments on mouseover.
  • Completed patrol areas now display with a stroke outline surrounding them for greater visual clarity.
  • In-editing patrol areas now display a dotted outline around each segment for greater visual clarity.
  • Patrol areas will now properly render over paths.
  • When creating a new patrol area or editing an existing one at a Staff building, all other patrol areas from all other Staff buildings of the same type will now be displayed.
  • Patrol areas from other staff buildings will be fainter than patrol areas from the current staff building.
  • The display of patrol areas has seen some performance improvements.
  • You can now build Patrol Areas of up to 15 segments, up from 8.
UI / UX IMPROVEMENTS
The team has been diligently tweaking UI / UX design and usability throughout RCTW. Now, hovering over various rides, coasters, shops and other attractions will bring up an info icon, give you a snapshot of how your different park elements are faring. Additionally, we’ve made a number of UI/UX bug fixes, from menu issues, to ride cams, and more!

PERFORMANCE
We’re continuing to optimize art assets throughout the game, bringing increasingly significant performance bumps. This time around we’ve continued focusing on tree, bush and other foliage optimizations and tweaks, which should result in performance boosts as you build out your parks!

Read on below for a full list of updates!

Thank you all again! See you on the forums, and out in the park!
- The RCTW Team

First of all, i can see why this game is getting the hate it is BUT, it is not as bad as some people are making out. The game is playable and is great fun. Whlist there are some stupid and silly bugs (Like the floating people which is seriously annoying) you can still play the game.

Although I only paid £10 for this game and think its worth every penny. Personally i would wait till its on sale and grab it then (Its not worth £30 IMO)

This game has the potential to be great but theres definitly some work to be done. I for one love this game. I have been with roller coaster sense in first one came out. yes there are a room for improvements, but as a whole world is, as I see it a step in the right direction. graphics are for better. you took a lot of controls out of the mouse and put them in the key board. that was a no, no. where the travel items, trams train, cable cars? I enjoy the came, but I would like to see them put in, in the near future. now a couple of items I need help on. after I put in a bunch of food vendors how ( if I can ) do turn all on at one time? at present you have to do it one at a time. like I said there are room for improvement. I know that it will take time. to able to ride the coarsters is great. maybe I am easy to please, but I do so enjoy this this game. please continue on what you are doing. paid 45.00 dollars for this games, please don't let your paying people down. thank you please work hard.

This is plagued with so many issues that i cannot recommend this game at all for the time being. Other reviews have stated in more detail why and what performance issues there are.

This is just another case of an unfinished game brought out too early for "Early access" regardless of its current state. My MSI afterburner shows in game as my GPU at 19% / CPU at 10% and my Ram at 12GB yet my FPS was horrendus hovering around 9 - 13 FPS with only a single tile filled and a second tile part filled. I wouldnt mind if i had a low end system but running an i7 4790k - 16GB 2400Mhz Ram - GTX980ti and installing the game on an samsung 850 EVO SSD....just tells me this is poorly optimised with little progression since its release.

I'll be honest, i made the mistake of thinking that frontier was behind this at first, considering how i love RTC3. Luckily I only paid £9.99 for this on the site that shall not be named so i can live with my mistake. Seeing how good RTC3 was and how good Elite dangerous is I think this game is going to be abandoned in my steam library and I'll happily pay 3x what i paid for this for Frontiers upcoming Rollercoaster development.

Sorry Nvizzio Studios this is a poor effort and shouldnt be on steam for the price it is.

Do not buy this in its current state. Mechanics won't fix rides, tutorial is terrible, and it's missing even some of the basic customization of the first two games. Very disappointing.

I definitely would NOT recommend this game in its current state. SO MUCH needs work, nearly everything. They talked so much hype for this game being the "next generation coaster builder," but it's exactly the opposite.

My advice do not buy this game, it's not worth the price they are asking for what you got.
The attractions in this game are poorly done.
The pathing system is a mess
Peeps looking like they are on some prescribed stuff
The overall feeling of this game not so good it lacks the family feeling i had on RCT3 and it really lacks alot of features RCT3 has out of the box.

There are positive things about this game but atm it's only negative things that ruins this game, it's a shame because i really like the other game in the series, but i don't have much hope that the game will change.

I bought this game for 39.99 and I am so disappointed. I couldn't get the game to start so I read on the forums and found how to enter -force-d3d9 to make the game start and not crash. This worked, but now when I go into Sandbox mode to build a theme park, I am unable to build anything. I click on rides and nothing will appear, I click on food, and nothing will appear. I have had nothing but problems with this game since I bought it. If there was a way to get a refund, I would. I enjoyed the other Roller Coaster Tycoon Games, and was a big fan, but this one here is a disappointment.

First off, the game has a lot of bugs. Also to build rollercoaster sit takes a lot of thought, (Which can be better at times) whereas in rollercoaster tycoon 3 you could get in and build a rollercoaster coaster like that. No messing around with safety and the free form tool is messed up.

However I'm personally a big sucker to when it comes to FPS (Frames per second) and graphics quality. RTC world delivers this really well compared to RTC3. Terrain editing is much nicer as the tiles are gone from RTC3 and blending is better. Although rides and rollercoaster scant go underground and after you've finished a rollercoaster, you can't edit the terrain that sits underneath the track! That sucks!

Also when zooming out, peeps become more static. By that I mean there is no movement in there arms, legs and body but instead the shuffle along the ground as if your FPS is down at 2! As well as there is a lack of themes. I know that RTC3 only had an extra 5 themes through the platinum edition but come on Atari, add more themes and as well as there is no filter to filter themes like on RTC3; there all in one big list!

To conclude I wouldnt buy this game yet. It has a lack of customisation and needs to be developed. I do realise this is early access and not everything is added and flushed out, exactly why you shouldn't buy this game just yet. Once the game is out fully then give it a go but stick to RTC3 or planet coaster.

Do not buy this in its current state. Mechanics won't fix rides, tutorial is terrible, and it's missing even some of the basic customization of the first two games. Very disappointing.
