About This Content

Don’t Starve: Reign of Giants is an expansion pack that adds new characters, seasons, creatures, biomes, and other challenges to Don’t Starve.

The entire world of Don’t Starve has been expanded and is now even more uncompromising! New mysteries, challenges and scientific innovations await your discovery. Manage your resources well, because the wilderness of Don’t Starve has learned some new tricks.

Key Features:

  • New playable characters: Reign of Giants adds two characters for players to discover and survive with. Play as Wigfrid, a stage actress who went a bit too far with method acting on her latest role, an ancient Valkyrie, or Webber, a young boy who lives inside the spider who tried to eat him long ago.
  • Year-round starvation: Struggle through a full year of seasons as you experience the torrential rain falls of spring and the blistering heat of summer.
  • A bigger, badder world: New biomes have been filled to the brim with new creatures and gatherables that will either help you survive - or kill you.

Day 11
I attempted to track a Koalefant to aquire it's meat. A different beast entirely met me at the end of the trail, one with fangs rather than tusks but just as big as my intended quarry. The Varg.

It howled, summoning hounds to it's side in an attempt to overwhelm me with numbers. It worked, forcing me to flee rather than be eaten alive. A nearby swamp containing tentacles and fish people made for the perfect terrain to lose the pursuing animals, allowing me to escape while I could still fight lesser beasts without succumbing to my wounds. I continued through the swamp, away from my camp grounds and towards new land.

Day 12
I have found salvation. After replacing my log armor and spear I ventured toward some strange area that reminded me of elaborate and lavish chess boards. The playing pieces here move under their own malicious will, attacking me as I draw near. Where they had programmed behavior I had drive and purpose; gears littered the ground rather than my own blood. The marble trees gave me an idea, prompting me to harvest them. In the middle of this area was a small garden of strange flowers. Looking at them put me on edge, making me almost look away before I noticed an odd detail; they were planted in the shape of a large W... or maybe an M? I left a nearly broken helmet nearby, hoping that whoever investigates this strange garden later will be inclined to investigate further; hopefully being more pleasant than either the plants or their gaurds when he or she arrives.

Day 13 - Morning
I've returned to my camp after sneaking around the Varg while it and it's pack slept in the night. This marble I bring back is heavy in my backpack but it will serve me well after I take a few choice pieces and strap them onto myself like armor. Along with a new helmet I am a slow but sturdy fighting machine. Hopefully I can either drive of the Varg or, failing that, end the beast.

Day 13 - Afternoon
I plunged the blade of my spear into the beasts eye, penetraing the brain and finally downing the violent creature. It's pack had grown in the night but they too fell to the blows I delivered. I almost traded places with them, barely clinging to life as I gave one final thrust and instead claimed their corpses rather then giving them my own. They're meat is tainted; I leave it to rot. The teeth I claim, maybe for some new contraption to help fight off creatures similar to this one. Something tells me that this will not be the worst of what that tall man has in store for me.

The birchnuts have gone red and yellow. A chill is moving in. I feel like I've merely won a single battle in what will surely be a long war against nature itself. I refuse to be beaten. I will not be made to die in this mad place.

I will not starve.

Day 14
Accidentally ate Monster Meat and died. 10/10

I wish I could have gotten this review out earlier, but it seems steam had issues with letting me review this DLC some time ago. So here goes nothing:

The DLC for Don't Starve called Reign of Giants is like having a well rounded directors cut of the game. During the cave development which got some mixed review and was never technically finished (lava caves was cut in the end). Many who complained were those who desperately wanted more to the overworld itself. Reign of Giant was exactly that.

The extra seasons (summer &spring). A giant for every season and even a refurbished Deerclops. A few new biomes and all of the vanilla biomes fleshed out even more. Two new characters that are introduce with some interesting gameplay mechanics. Klei entertainment has done something with DLC that I think most companies miss out on these day's. It does not simply make the game look different, but instead enhances it's core mechanics to make a truly unique experience out it. Plus it's worth every penny.

Amazing dlc! It's that one dlc which is like a whole new game. New characters, items, biomes and more stuff to murder you out of nowhere. Also giants... don't forget giants. I don't recommend you wander off to find one of them though, trust me.

Built a super massive base that was fit to survive all 4 seasons with ease, awesome armour, tons of food. I was living the high life! Then this giant fly came to inspect my work, I went to greet him and welcome him to my home. He became jealous and decided to burn it all to the ground! Fire breathing flies, who knew?

10/10 would die again.

Loved it! Amazingly immersive and adds so much to the game! Survival is just as fun but 10x as hard in reign of giants. With customizable conditions however it could be made easier. So many interesting things to craft and unlock to further your survival. 10/10

Really good DLC for the game. It really makes the game more difficult and adds a lot more new features which are really nice. The giants are so over-powered though xD. Anyway this DLC is totally worth. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes playing Don't Starve and wants it to be harder. Rated 10/10!

Adds a considerable amount to the base game, certainly would recommend to anyone who has otherwise bought the other game and wishes to be given another reason to reboot a new world. The additonal seasons do well with breaking the monotomy of the constant summer-winter cycles with their varied aspects doing well to make the world seem more alive.

Difficult and chalenging survival game. I keep finding myself coming back to play it again. Nice title to have in your library. Kid friendly in nature, chalenging enough to frustrate most adults.

Absolutely kicks donkey! The seasons don't feel repetitive anymore, because by the time you make it back to a season, it's been ages since you were last in that season. The gI do wish there were unique summer animals, such as El Tusko, the Melee-ing Summer Walrus, but still, this is a must-have expansion. I highly recommend that you first play the base game so you can appreciate how awesome this DLC is.

I simply adore this game! And now with the addition of the Reign of Giants-- it adds a whole new twist on this wonderfully crafted game. I highly recommend this if you're both a casual gamer and/or a hardcore veteran. This entire scenario forces you to think about the little things with survival, and not to mention that almost everything larger than you is trying to rip your head off. I'll be honest, it's a tough game at first but once you learn more about how the world works, everything falls into place-- but don't get too comfortable.

10/10 Would starve again.

A small price for a big DLC

After playing this, I never came back to the vanilla mode. This changed the whole game by adding new seasons, biomes, resources, tools, and 3 new giants with a remade Deerclops.

If you loved the vanilla version, you'll probably love this one even more. There are still a few bugs in the game but some will benefit you more than do harm ( bugs such as anoter chester appearing after you have died in caves ).

Don't Starve is a game that requires you to plan ahead as you may encounter random threats. It takes a while to complete a single playthrough and provides enjoyment at all stages. I recommend this game to people who enjoy platform and strategy games. Reign of Giants also added may features such as: GIANTS!!! They are massive and roam the whole world. Be careful not to come across one or you may regret it. :)

It easily became one of my favorite survival games. The DLC made the game a whole lot better, almost like a new game y'know. It added lots more difficulty, but that makes the game more fun. 10/10, havent found any cons yet.
