About This Content

Don’t Starve: Reign of Giants is an expansion pack that adds new characters, seasons, creatures, biomes, and other challenges to Don’t Starve.

  • Year-round starvation: Struggle through a full year of seasons as you experience the torrential rain falls of spring and the blistering heat of summer.
  • A bigger, badder world: New biomes have been filled to the brim with new creatures and gatherables that will either help you survive - or kill you.

Day 11
I attempted to track a Koalefant to aquire it's meat. A different beast entirely met me at the end of the trail, one with fangs rather than tusks but just as big as my intended quarry. The Varg.

It howled, summoning hounds to it's side in an attempt to overwhelm me with numbers. It worked, forcing me to flee rather than be eaten alive. A nearby swamp containing tentacles and fish people made for the perfect terrain to lose the pursuing animals, allowing me to escape while I could still fight lesser beasts without succumbing to my wounds. I continued through the swamp, away from my camp grounds and towards new land.

Day 12
I have found salvation. After replacing my log armor and spear I ventured toward some strange area that reminded me of elaborate and lavish chess boards. The playing pieces here move under their own malicious will, attacking me as I draw near. Where they had programmed behavior I had drive and purpose; gears littered the ground rather than my own blood. The marble trees gave me an idea, prompting me to harvest them. In the middle of this area was a small garden of strange flowers. Looking at them put me on edge, making me almost look away before I noticed an odd detail; they were planted in the shape of a large W... or maybe an M? I left a nearly broken helmet nearby, hoping that whoever investigates this strange garden later will be inclined to investigate further; hopefully being more pleasant than either the plants or their gaurds when he or she arrives.

Day 13 - Morning
I've returned to my camp after sneaking around the Varg while it and it's pack slept in the night. This marble I bring back is heavy in my backpack but it will serve me well after I take a few choice pieces and strap them onto myself like armor. Along with a new helmet I am a slow but sturdy fighting machine. Hopefully I can either drive off the Varg or, failing that, end the beast.

Day 13 - Afternoon
I plunged the blade of my spear into the beasts eye, penetraing the brain and finally downing the violent creature. It's pack had grown in the night but they too fell to the blows I delivered. I almost traded places with them, barely clinging to life as I gave one final thrust and instead claimed their corpses rather then giving them my own. Their meat is tainted; I leave it to rot. The teeth I claim, maybe for some new contraption to help fight off creatures similar to this one. Something tells me that this will not be the worst of what that tall man has in store for me.

The birchnuts have gone red and yellow. A chill is moving in. I feel like I've merely won a single battle in what will surely be a long war against nature itself. I refuse to be beaten. I will not be made to die in this mad place.

I will not starve.

Day 14
Accidentally ate Monster Meat and died. 10/10

Don't Starve: Reign of Giants:

-If you are getting bored of vanilla mode, buy RoG. much more challenging and alot more to do! :D
- 4 seasons, and not 2 :D
- Harder enemies, Food spoils everywhere now, even in crook pots.
- More Stuff to explore, like biomes, items, enemies etc.
- Adventure mode with RoG! (Goodluck with that <3)

Autumn : Grab them resources!
Winter : Cold, and hopefully u find deerclops.
Spring : Sanity drain season, because of the rain.... (**** you rain!)
Summer : Prepare good for the Summer, and you should be fine with the overheating :D

Every Season : Hope you find a Giant in any of the seasons, not close to your base :P

Alot of more items to find, biomes to explore, and monsters to kill.

If you are a fan of Don't Starve, you need this DLC in your Library! :)
(and get DS together with it too!)

Nice DLC!!

I wish I could have gotten this review out earlier, but it seems steam had issues with letting me review this DLC some time ago. So here goes nothing:

The DLC for Don't Starve called Reign of Giants is like having a well rounded directors cut of the game. During the cave development which got some mixed review and was never technically finished (lava caves was cut in the end). Many who complained were those who desperately wanted more to the overworld itself. Reign of Giant was exactly that.

The extra seasons (summer &spring). A giant for every season and even a refurbished Deerclops. A few new biomes and all of the vanilla biomes fleshed out even more. Two new characters that are introduce with some interesting gameplay mechanics. Klei entertainment has done something with DLC that I think most companies miss out on these day's. It does not simply make the game look different, but instead enhances it's core mechanics to make a truly unique experience out it. Plus it's worth every penny.

Essentially, a twisted representation of life. No one knows whats happening, everything is out to kill you, and you keep lying to yourself, saying that everything will be okay.

Pretty great dlc.

Built a super massive base that was fit to survive all 4 seasons with ease, awesome armour, tons of food. I was living the high life! Then this giant fly came to inspect my work, I went to greet him and welcome him to my home. He became jealous and decided to burn it all to the ground! Fire breathing flies, who knew?

10/10 would die again.

Since I gave my review of the base game, I might as well give my thoughts on Reign of Giants, since I've played it the most. Reign of Giants is the first expansion DLC of Don't Starve, and its main purpose is to take the base game, throw in new elements, and make the difficulty even more hard than the base game. Whilst this may seem like a downside, Reign of Giants offers a lot more than what one may expect, along with two additional unlockable characters, several new items to craft, and four giants, one per every season, the Reign of Giants DLC is definitely something to check out if you want to have a more challenging Don't Starve experience. I would recommend checking it out if you already have played the first game! :) (My personal favorite character in this expansion is Wigfrid by the way.)

"Don't Starve" is the name of the game yet I've never died of starvation?

Well this new DLC pack has a lot of cool new things! I recommend everyone who likes Don't Starve to purchase this amazing DLC. In this you'll find Spring and Autumn, 2 great seasons to throw into the mix. There is also new biomes, charcaters, and items. This DLC expands the game to be more fun and entertaining!

i literally spent all my wealth from tf2 to buy this in 2014
"how can you do that, flanko? please tell me, oh my god flanko"
long story short, lots of scams happened to me, i'm just too goodhearted for some people and i'm easily manipulated to fall for scams, i traded my unusual rather festive tree for a bill's hat with glitched halloween paint, traded that for a genuine harakama headband for soldier, i forgot what its called, but it had a glitched item level (the item turned out to be duped, cutting it's price in half, or less), then i ended up meeting someone who would buy that hat, but for an absurdly cheap price, just enough for me to buy RoG, after slapping myself many times and passing out from blood loss, i came to the conclusion that i'd rather want RoG than to keep a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hat thats extremely hard to sell
i was frustrated
but hey, at least i own RoG and i didnt need to turn into a scammer myself, right? if i could turn back time to get my unusual rather festive tree, i would definitely do it, it was my second unusual and one of my dream hats to own

oh is this still a review for RoG? yeah the dlc is preeeetty good, thats why i let myself into all that trouble just to get it
(dont make the same mistakes i did)
