"Say pal, you don't look so good. You'd better find a rock to hide under, because this time we're sending Giants after you!"
So you've been playing Don't Starve, and you've mastered (or not) all of the seasons, challenges, and experienced the whole world, and delved into the depths underground.... (or not).
Don't Starve Reign of Giants will take everything you know about surviving and throw a monkey-wrench in it, with new seasons, new biomes, Wetness, Overheating, Giants who come to attack your bases, and some tweaks to the original mechanics that you've grown so used to.-Detailed breakdown review-Story:
Much like the previous game, the whole goal is to survive, with the new difficulty of mastering new seasons the player definitely has his or her work cut out for him/her.Game Play:
There's a lot that can be said here, but to focus on what I've already said, there are new biomes, seasons, giants, and NPC's. Playing this DLC will be one part exploration of a new world, twenty part tears and gnashing of teeth; My first game I made it to winter, but then a Deerclops ran over my base
(I didn't know it was coming and was ill prepared) My second game I made it to summer, and my base burnt down
. The whole point of mentioning that is that it highlights just a fraction of the new challenges that you experience in the Reign of Giants DLC; New seasons, and Giants.Achievements:
No steam achievements, but just making it _______ amount of days is an achievement. In a way the whole Don't Starve Game Series takes a jump back to the days where when you died, there were actual consequences... that being you had to take out more quarters and put them in the machine to keep playing. Conclusion:
In my own experience, after playing and learning don't starve the hard way (death!), I simply can't dislike the game. I can get discouraged and play something else for awhile, however this game is very special to me and I have yet to dislike anything about it.
