"From the acclaimed SITER SKAIN, RefleX's hectic bullet reflecting mechanic doesn't distract from traditional, frantic bullet-hell fun."

RefleX, originally released in 2008, must be one of the better games in the Shoot 'em up genre.
I might not be the biggest fan of the genre but I still had a "Blast" playing the game.

The gameplay is just what you would expect in a game like this; It's fast, enemies shoot you from every direction and it's pretty difficult, in my opinion. One thing I really liked is the fact you can use your shield to bounce enemy bullets back.

Since the game is pretty old, the graphics and music are straight out of that era but that just adds to the charm of this game. There are no online leaderboards or achievements, so you can only compare your own scores.

A game like this is not for everyone but I can recommend this to every fan of the genre.

+ awesome gameplay that schmup lovers wil like
+ works on my xbox controller

the grapics not super but not bad eather

- no satisfiing resolution options (wil make me play some other schmup before this)

would i recommend? only to lovers of the genre there is plenty out there that support 1080p
and only because of the resolution options i give this 6.5/10 and 8/10 if they ever fix that

I played Alltynex before playing Reflex, so at the begining it was hard to get used to clearly worse graphics. It took me a bit to get involved in the game, but once I have played a while I am really enjoying the game, even more than Alltynex. Proper difficulty level, smart use of the reflex, big bosses, some Ikaruga like enemies, make reflex a great shoot em up. I strongly recommend it.

Once I've beaten it, I recommend it even more. In the top ten of shoot em ups.

From the ones I've played till now (Dec-14)

1 Ikaruga
2 Radiant Silvergun
3 Thunderforce IV
4 Reflex
5 Gradius Gaiden
6 Sine Mora
7 Atomic Runner-Chelnov
8 Thunderforce III
9 R-Type
10 Alltynex

Short Answer: Yes, this game is amazing. Buy it now!

Long Answer: I picked up this game last year from Nyu Media's website, and I'm glad it finally made it to Steam. Yeah, I've got a few buddies I'm going to corrupt with some Alltynex goodness.

There's a great sense of design behind this game. From the way the levels flow into each other, to the progression of escalating boss fights, everything looks in place.

Even the unique bullet colors have consistent meanings; some can be absorbed, some can be reflected, and some can be shot down. Knowing when to shoot, when to reflect, and when to just let off the fire button and recharge, is the key to victory.

The scoring system comes naturally. Use the reflect feature well, and get big multipliers. It's great fun sending off a mass of reflected bullets and homing lasers, followed by some giant x64 kills. Or for those who just want to play to the end and enjoy the spectacle, continues are awarded on a regular basis to aid progress.
