Steam Cloud Sync Enabled

We are pleased to announce that Steam Cloud support is now enabled for all games in the X series, to bring the older games in line with X Rebirth.

Your savegames will now be synchronised across different PCs using the same Steam account by default.

If you do not wish to use Steam Cloud to synchronise your games, then right-click on the game in question in the Steam library, choose Properties, go to the Updates tab and uncheck the "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization" checkbox setting.

You can, of course, re-enable it at any time if you change your mind.

Regards,

Egosoft

If you're looking for a hardcore gamer's game, you found it! An excellent sandbox space sim, with an interesting universe to explore, regardless of how you choose to play the game. Be prepared for a steep learning curve though, this is the most player-hostile game I've played. Newcomers might be better off with some of the newer X3 games (Terran Conflict or Albion Prelude). Graphics still looks beautiful today, 10 years after the game was released.

The 580-odd hours on steam are only a fraction of the time I've spent playing this game.

Of all the 'X' games I think this one stands out in terms of UI, economy balance and overall optimisation, the number of menu's and commands can be a little overwhelming to start with and it's quite a grind to get your empire going but once you have a couple of fully upgraded cargo ships with the universe trader skill (all of which takes WORK) the money starts rolling in and you can begin to focus on building your fleet of combat ships allowing you to go out and control the trade - lanes.

My favourite part of the game is the economy which you can engage and exploit through the completion of various transport and combat missions, by building factories and creating automated buy/sell orders (which in itself has a great level of depth) or through trading with the AI factories using your cargo ships, all the while influencing and manipulating Universe-wide commerce.

I really like the balance of automated ship functions and direct interaction, you can spend a significant amount of time parked in a command ship setting up or monitoring fleet commands and economy trends but there is also the unending task of exploration and combat, much of which needs to be done manually.

I've read many positive reviews about he storyline, but have had so much fun engaging with the universal play that I've not actually got around to following the script, which for me is testamant to a truly great game and leaves me with still more to discover, thousands of hours in!

Ok, first off, I have never played any of the X series until now. X3: Reunion is amazing beyond beleif. Yes, the learning curve might be too difficult for some, but for others, this is amazing. The open world universe is amazing, AND it runs 40-70 fps on my NETBOOK. My INTEGRATED CELERON GRAPHICS NETBOOK! But, this game NEEDS a tutorial! And a quicksave feature. I would recommend this to all my friends, and I recommend it to all of you! Here is a pro/ con list:
Pros:
+Amazing open world
+Combat is great
+Story line, while predicatable, is actually decent
+Good trading system

Cons:
-No tutorial
-NO AUTOPAUSE WHEN PRESSING ESC!!!
-NO WORKSHOPE SUPPORT. With this, people could create their own GALAXIES, and upload them for other people to play!!!

All in all, GET IT NOW!

In essence a very good game that is the spiritual successor to Elite. A reletively steep learning curve for a new comer to the series but there are plenty orf tutorials on Youtube and on the Egosoft forums for help.

Combat especially when piloting fighters seems quite reasonable so far. The interface is only slightly differrant compared to the later expansions of Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude and is not clunky in use. For referance I'm currently playing campaigns in both Reunion and Albion Prelude.

It might be said that the only reason to get Reunion these days is if you want to play the plot especially if you have the other two expansions. Which might be valid for some but I like Reunion for the lack of money early in the game compared to the later titles as it really gives you a sense of achievement further on. As well as various differculty settings starting the main plot {in regards to starting money etc} You are also given alternative starts of the Humble Merchant, Bankrupt Assasin, the explorer and a custom start. These ignore the plot and are perfect for a total sand box experience.
Though these are not as many as contained in x3:TC and x3:AP

Reunion is more than just a space trading and fighting sim as it is also a strategy game at heart that you can build your own industrial or millitary empire or even both.

If you can't afford Terran Conflict and/or Albion Prelude Reunion is a good place to start.

After years of playing on and off again with over 500 hours both on and off Steam under my belt, I can say this is my favorite game. This won't be universal, though, as the game has a very large learning gap and very little instruction, coupled with a format of gameplay that is best discribed as "love it or hate it". The lack of a tutorial doesn't help.

For those wondering if this is worth playing or buying, one must ask themselved what do they want first. Do you want to be a pirate in space firing on ships outside of the areas controlled by the law, and don't mind the high dificulty?
Do you want to spend many hours trading items from one station to another to gain money and eventually buy your own states, hiring ships to trade for you and leading your new found corporate empire to grand wealth?
Do you want to explore the universe, and all it's mystory and see it's dark secrets, with all the risks that may bring?
Do you want to be a cop, shooting down pirates, evil robots, evil incests and whom ever else may oppose order?
This and much more is in the game.

However: if you want instant gratification, always playing at a fast pace, or everything being handed to you?
Then this game is not for you.
