What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We believe in the power of playtesting and the value of feedback. Creativerse will be a free-to-play game at launch. By charging for Early Access, we're hoping to ensure we get feedback from people who are passionate about shaping the game's destiny, invested in its future, and excited to get access to the game before it's released.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Long before we launched, we had estimated 4 - 6 months for Early Access. However, the realities of supporting a live game while developing new features and content quickly sunk in. We now feel 8 - 12 months is closer to what we'll need.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The core game is built on three essential components: exploration, combat, and crafting. On that foundation, we'll be adding a variety of new features, systems and content over the course of Early Access. We're excited to share these with you!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable with a decent amount of content, though it's certainly not bug-free. If you're experiencing an issue, your feedback will help us fix it!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We are committed to launching as a free to play game. We believe it will allow us to reach the widest audience possible. Continued development will be supported by microtransactions. However, we are making every effort to ensure that in-game purchases are not tied to the core loop of the game -- we don't want to penalize players who simply want to play for free.

As a bonus to our Early Access participants, you will receive a gift of in-game currency equal to the price of Early Access once the game officially launches!”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're hoping to get as much feedback as possible. Please let us know if you have any suggestions, whether it's something you'd like to see added or changed or removed entirely. We've already added a bunch of stuff and made a number of changes to the game based on player feedback and we plan to continue listening and responding throughout Early Access.

So...send us your feedback, please! Here are the best places to do that:

Creativerse R14 — World v2

Hi Creatifriends,

This is it! This is the update you’ve all been waiting for. We’ve crammed as many new biomes, creatures and cool things as we could fit into this update. Then we threw in a few more for good measure. Rather than give you a wall of text summarizing everything, we’ll just make three points before diving into the patch notes...

1) We’re not joking -- this release is massive. Normally we prefer to pace things out more, but World v2 requires you create a new world to get the new content. We want to keep to an absolute minimum occasions where we ask players to restart. On that note, you can still access and play on your old worlds, though there are a few items you’ll no longer be able to craft.

2) As big as this update is, it doesn’t quite have everything we were hoping it would. For instance, the new mobs’ attacks aren’t up to snuff compared to the usual suspects. They will get better in future updates. And we’ll likely continue to refine some of the textures and other art elements.

3) In addition to World v2, there are several changes you’ll enjoy no matter what world you’re in. For example, real flames on torches, bloom lighting effects, bigger chests, performance improvements / network optimizations for better gameplay overall and a bunch of bugfixes.

Patch notes are below. If you don’t have a chance to play this very moment, get a taste for what’s new in this teaser video. If you do have time, slap a power cell on, grab some torches and get lost!

Guess what? It’s R13 time! This update gives you the fancy new Drago blocks, which harness the beauty of the lava layer with striking grace. See for yourself…

There are also a bunch of improvements to our simulation system, which means performance will be much smoother when working with liquid or the corruption layer. And make sure to give TNT another chance to dazzle you as the sound, explosion and damage are now synced — just like in real life! We can’t wait to see the pics you guys post of entire continents blown to smithereens!

How’s it going with those new biomes, you ask? Swimmingly! But it’s taking us a bit longer than expected. We appreciate your patience as we work hard to get things just right. (We’ll share some footage from world v2 soon to give you a glimpse of what we have in store).

Here are the patch notes…

New Features and Content
  • New blocks
    • Igneous Wall (unlocks on Igneous Rock)

Bugfixes
  • Fix for Keepa not running away until attacked
  • Fix for Obsidian Door and Bedrock Door not being account-bound
  • Fix for some objects “blinking out” in multiplayer if half-pulled by another player
  • Fix for incorrect “white flash” when dragging stacks of blocks over character in inventory
  • Fix for misaligned beacons over death urns
  • Fix for visible black lines on salt block when seen at a distance
  • Enemies now show names again when targeted

Early Access Review
* This textual version of the review will diverse a little bit from the video-version, since I wanted to make the video version as straightforward as possible. If you're interested in a TLDR thing, probably watch the video, otherwise scroll past it ^.^ *

https://youtu.be/wFzYplXXr0E

I will try to not to compare this game to Minecraft, or any other voxel based survival open world games, altough it is hard, since the features that the competitive games currently offer are in my opinion much larger than of this one, but this one is early access so remember, you are buying a game that is still undergoing its development and creative process.
I have owned this game for quite some time now, I have seen it buggy as hell with hardly any content and recently coming into patches that added loads of new content, craftable items, new designs and very good UI changes.

So I would like to start by saying that this game is definitely on a very good track! And that the developers definitely deserve every penny you are willing to give them for this. The game receives constant updates, it is evolving, the developers are listening to feedback and adjusting the experience to it.

Altough I do feel there is still a lot to be done. The overall experience right now is smooth and can entertain you for several hours,. There are in-game ideas that definitely add some unique thinking and provide rage-free gameplay (teleporters, death relics, etc.). As well as ideas that I can see to be used to request payment in the future (after the f2p model goes live), and I hope it will not kill the game. (task based crafting)

The task based crafting for example is a good example of a feature that does not have to fit to everyone. Having to wait for a set period of time for something to finish crafting in a queue might eventually become frustrating. I personally liked this function as it allowed me to multitask and I haven’t been bothered by it, but I can imagine it will bother some.
When it comes to creativity and the overall design of the game, I have to put my hands down, open my mouth and look around. This game feels very, very smooth, every block in the game feels like it belongs there, everything seems like it has been thought through and the colour design is amazing. I always disliked minecrafts default texture pack for being too rough and hard on the eyes, but in the case of this game, it’s a world where’d I’d love to be in person. And everything is perfectly layered, it really feels like it’s one big connected world. Going from top to the very bottom is just amazing, and the creative minds behind this game really have some imagination.

Regarding UI there have been some changes through out the development and I feel they were very good as well. I was skeptical about the UI in the past and felt like I’m a little lost in it. This cloud has been a little cleared, but I still feel a little of it floating around. I’d definitely welcome some in-game guide, more informative tooltips, or basically any other way of guiding my hand through the crafting windows and such, and once you’d get used to it, you could turn it off ofcourse. (Same goes for first game start, I’d like to see some guidance there as well)

Story-wise I feel like this is the part of the game where there’s really.. nothing. I have not included this point in the video review since I don’t feel like it’s a priority for the developers. At least I have not seen any mention about it in the forums or on the store page. There are some in-game notes to be found containing some text, but there’s nothing more to that right now. I’m don’t deliberately need a story at every cost, but it would be nice to get to know something about the world I’m getting thrusted into, since it’s very colorful and nicely done in the fist place. I know the main selling points of this games are probably elsewhere, but it’s just something I’d like to see even if it would be in a very small way.

To cut the chase I’ll say that I think the main selling points of this game are the social features and the game design. It’s incredibely easy to start a multiplayer game, takes literally one second, or the blink of an eye. That makes sharing your world with someone very easy, showcasing your builds, or just generally derping around. As I recall from other similar games, I’d have to have a dedicated server application, sometimes even venture into config files, and other necessary setting ups, which is just awful, and I’m glad this game is doing it right. By game design I mean how things look, what items you can craft, how is it concieved. The entire game has a very distinct style, it’s a mix of traditional things with modern technology and possibly a little bit of magic here and there (or at least it feels like that). This gives a sort-of-a “steam-punk” feel (altough not entirely) and I definitely like that, it’s very different to other games where it’s the same thing all over again, just with different textures.

Having said that I think that the entire game is well designed not just by the visual means, but also the progression and game mechanics design. Crafting and getting further in the game feels natural and follows a nice expanding path, while it’s most of the time very clear what you need to create next, altough when starting the game for the first time it was very unclear to me.
There are definitely bugs right now, I’ve been able to pick-up my things when still being on the death screen, I can often see through blocks, the lighting system seems very fragile, I had invisible mob attacking me and some general multiplayer issues (latency, missplacement, etc.),. But that’s all expectable right now, and I feel like it will definitely get fixed, since already a lot of bugs did get fixed.

I am going to say what I said in the video review, and that is.. If you feel like supporting the developers (whom in my opinion deserve it) definitely go for it, get the game, play it right away and address your feedback to the devs. If you feel like you can probably smash out more value and entertainement from other similar games (you are probably right) and you’re hesitating with the cash (I’m not surprised, Creativerse is not cheap) just wait and see, it can still happen that this will turn into an annoying pay2play title that will slowly die, as well as it can turn into a beautiful well balanced game (it’s heading there right now). Right now I feel it’s a little “dull” and for me it doesn’t offer that much replay value (my opinion), but I feel otherwise very positive and I can see how it will become great.

Below I’ll just put some Pros and Cons to have a brief overall review.

Pros
(+) Beautiful Visuals
(+) Easy to set up multiplayer
(+) Unique game design
(+) Natural progression
(+) Honest, fair and hard working developers
(+) Constant updates
(+) Different approach to crafting (stations, extractors, etc.)
(+) Task-based crafting (altough this might be a con for some)
(+) Progression supporting features (teleporters, etc.)

Cons
(-) Price (20 is a tad high, but its a support token)
(-) Future f2p model (might go bad)
(-) No in-game guidance system, player has to figure it out
(-) No story
(-) Bugs
(-) No linux support (Win/Mac at the moment, absolute multi-platform would be nice)

Thanks for reading/watching this, or both, also check out my channel for some more reviews if you’ve enjoyed this one and/or other gaming related content. (https://www.youtube.com/user/playintosh)

Early Access Review
Pros:

*Great Grahpics: Sure, the voxel style is very popular and once could say that it is exhausted but it still looks great here. The circular models fit well with the bright and cartoony textures that are on ever block, really giving it it's own edge. The lighting is absolutley BEAUTIFUL with shadows and shaders that really don't harm preformance all that much.

*Great Music: ALMOST on par with the original Minecraft soundtrack (Not that crappy techno stuff that it has turned into in Volume: Beta) Nice piano and guitar pieces that are brought together with a slight hint of electronic that is used well... I even downloaded the soundtrack, for FREE FROM THEM, and put it on my phone for easy listening!

* Fantastic block variety! Once this that Minecraft lacks is the variety of blocks, sure it has gotten better, but I usually use a mod pack to extend the blocks on that game when I decide to use it. However, on this game there are block style packs which include from 5 to 10 blocks and all are craftable and used in the world!

* Great enemy styles! Every enemy has its' own quirks and ways of fighting, from the crabs that build up a swirl attack and become invurnrable to the lava worm (I think that is what it is called) that spits out fire and burns you! Each enemy is unique and fun to fight

* Fun multiplayer. Just jumping into a friends world to see what they have done, or to look for ideas for buildings it really easy. You just click on the world and you instantly join in!

* FANTASTIC COMMUNITY INTERACTION! A think lacking in most Early Access voxel games is that developers do not talk with their players and give updates well enough. However, Creativerse shows us what should be STANDARD for all EARLY ACCESS titles going into the future!

Cons:

* Lack of things to do. After a few hours (5-6 hours) you start to run out of things to progress, by that point you have reached the bottom of the world and have gotten the mythical Luminite Ore. There just isn't all that much to do as of yet, however I am sure it will continute to expand.

* Not fun to expore. Only a few biomes exist, from what I have seen it is a desert, plains, forest, ice tops (for tops of mountains) with a few mountains put throughout. Nothing really to look out for. Would be nice for some dungeons to really get that RPG feel that it is trying to get. And the cave systems are bad, like not the scary bad but just bad. I have only run into a few caves in my extended amount of time playing and from what I have seen they are very small and do not go deep. I usually end up mining downwards to even get to a lower area. Even then the lower area is very easy to get to. Maybe expand the amount of blocks downward until the next underground biome and then actually make the cave systems fun to explore as in, more then just monster traps.

* View distance. I look off into the distance and what do I see? Not land! I see just fog and not much land. The view distance, even when put at max, leaves the playstation 1 laughing. I do see this expanding in the future as this seems to be part of a weather system that is still a work in progress but I would like to see it expand, or at least not make the fog so dense!

* Lack of musical variety. I do LOVE the music, however there isn't enough of it right now... there are only 10 tracks that play and most of them are area exclusive, meaning that you will only hear 1 or 2 tracks PER AREA! They will expand on this from what I have heard but that is still a problem.

* Random chests everywhere. Sure, I do like finding a chest to get items, but having them spawn constantly in places where you may have built is irritating. I remember I built a wall and then everytime I came back to that wall a chest would spawn on top of it, meaning that I have to go to the top and open it and take the now useless items because of my high tier stuff and just throw them away.

Conclusion:
It is very clear that Playful Corp. loves the community and the game that they are creating, rivaling the amount that Minecraft had in its' early days (2010-2011). I can't help but see this game becoming my new voxel game over Minecraft leaving it into the dust. The problems are more nitpicks as the game is more then good enough to purchase it its' early state. I recomend it to anyone who enjoys survivla voxel games as this has a different approach taht really pays off! I will update this review as the updates roll out, until then I give it a 7.8/10

So far I've only played 2D building games, and kinda skipped Minecraft all together. When I saw videos on Creativerse it was love at first sight. The game looks amazing to me (and that's even before they put in the new biomes!), plays and feels smooth and intuitive.

PROS:
- hassle-free server setup and multiplayer gaming is a breeze (all set via simple ingame menu)
- beautiful graphics and gorgeous world creation
- very easy to understand progression system
- very easy to understand crafting system, includes progressive and randomly found recipe learning
- teleportation system is excellent for fast travel (love the way you configure teleports)
- simple, yet satisfying gear/weapon progression system - 4 armor items, 1 sword (devs don't complicate where they don't need to)
- durability! which is not tedious to maintain - end-game gear will last a long while before it breaks!
- corruption/purification mechanics is great (when you get there) :)
- very interesting spawning mechanics, where you can create platforms/biomes that spawn different mob types
- weather feels natural (oh those damp misty days, feels like you wanna sleep right through them)
- excellent dev team working on the game, very responsive, helpful and they really do listen to the community
- good overall performance (ok, I do realize this may be off for some players, but the game runs very well on my high-end gaming desktop (i7, Nvidia GTX970) at max settings, aswell as on my HP laptop at medium settings (i5, AMD 7570M) - and I expect they will optimize the game even further

CONS:
- no mods yet, so I can't say how well this part will be realized, but the devs are very dedicated so lets hope for the best
- in this early stage there's still some minor multiplayer issues - players appearing off-sync sometimes (appears as the other player is flying in the air 2-3 feet instead on the ground next to you), and there's occasional lag with servers (mobs that should run after you actually take a little de-tour as if you're still in old position on server - its not bothersome though)
- there's no "creative mode" atm, so building big requires some extensive gathering too :) - i'm assuming this will be added later by devs or via mods

All in all, I highly recommend you try this game. Probably best to wait till it goes free-to-play, or if you want to provide some valuable feedback during the development, buy and support the devs now :P you'll get your money value back, once the store launches.

Edit: Completely forgot to mention one more (temporary) CON - and that's the Linux version. Really hope that won't be an issue for the devs, since Unity's Linux support is now available.

When I first looked at Creativerse I thought 'looks like a superior version of Minecraft. Sure why not?' I'm glad I decided to try it out! It's not just the graphics i've come to love but the comprehensive crafting system and the cool new recipes you learn as you craft different things.

This is NOT Minecraft and not another one of those impostor knockoffs that seem to have popped up and filed miserably. I see a bright future for this game and can't wait to see what gets added later on. As a fan of Minecraft I think that I might just forsake it for this!

For those of you looking for a cool game with cute monsters, great crafting system, and tons of pretty blocks to build your perfect base/house/statue of Pikachu then this is the game for you!

It's still in EA so don't expect all the awesome but they have a update in the making that looks awesome. If you're not sure then I suggest giving it a try.

Great game. I was expecting a minecraft knockoff at first. I was wrong. The concept of the game is pretty much like minecraft tho using your creative mind and gathering resources to achieve what you want to build using blocks. The difference is the method, texture, and environment. Method: is more simplified by using a device to extract certain raw materials. The more upgraded the device the more types of raw materials you'll be able to collect. Texture: Cartoonish really but I like it. Environment: The trees are huge, and the animals within the game aren't as blocky as they would be in minecraft. Now with performance, very well optimized. I couldn't really find a bug the 10 hours i've played which is pretty good for an early access game that came out months ago. Now a couple things i hope to see in this game, food, water, and a lil more need for survival. Also sleeping, and interacting with furniture that you build. And was not really digging how the ladders are. If they were attached to the facing block somehow it would look much better. Other than that I loved this game, some of the music is peaceful, I'll be playing a lot more of it.

This is a Voxel-Based game. Not a Minecraft copy. This game is very unique in it's own ways, it encourages you to explore, find loot and unlock recipes. The community is extremely friendly, as well as the developers which respond to each and every question you have. You can run this game on a potato. You can craft different types of armor. Leather armor, obsidian armor, iron armor, etc. You don't have "tools" like you did in MC, you have a special-glove with a mining cell which allows you to acquire more items. Overall, this game is the best I've played in a long time. You could play it with friends, make creations.

Overall, it's a unique Voxel-Based game that encourages you to explore and gain the resources needed to survive. It's a very friendly community that will help each other with whatever questions everyone has.

I rate the game 10/10

Very awesome game. Kind of like Minecraft but it has plenty of different things to make it not minecraft. I think It's better overall, I own both games. Wish they implement a weather system tho, the only thing It's really missing.

But the developers are VERY active and they said the game will be updated every 2 to 3 weeks. Awesome game!.

EDIT: Also I must add, this game allows for better exploring than Minecraft. You can Teleport wherever you place your Teleport thing that all players have, this way you'll never really be Lost, and when you die you spawn there to.

The game has a built in compass, very handy.

What is worse than a game with angry fan boi's? A game in alpha early access full of angry fan boi's... Seriously, this review will get 10-50+ "was not helpful" within a week of being published, all from these same fan boi's. Don't think that is true? Look down at the reviews, anything that said "would not recommend" for any reason have 0/10 found this helpful and every one that said "would recommend" (even if all the review said was, darrrr I went up in tree fell down died, darrrr would die again 11/10) has 10/10 found helpful. I would post names but 'Rules and Guidelines' would have my head- if you are really curious just look up some threads and you'll know...

Edit:Don't bother commenting on review to let me know that "you ♥♥♥ need go die in whole yo!" because I will just delete it...
Edit: I guess people don't even get this far in my review before posting comments about how stupid I am and how worthless the review is; as I have said, don't bother I honestly delete them without even reading them. You don't like something downvote and move on. Ignoring this just proves you didn't even read this.far...

You want an actual review and not some digital pleasure fest the fan boi's are giving free of charge? Here it is...

What you want from early access:
-A game that is somewhat playable
-to be able to feel like you can constructively critique said game
-to be able to feel comfortable enough to give feedback
-to feel welcome and able to bring yourself to the table without selling yourself short
-dev's that respect the critique as much as the praise and try to calm their fan boi's that are trying to impress down

What you get here:
-A game that is playable but full of pay to win/play/continue whatever you feel like calling it built into the gameplay and mechanics. Some pay to play features are turned off, but if something confuses you in game and you wonder "why is that?" ask yourself, "could they charge money to fix that problem?" and you'll have your answer... It's as easy as just 'turning it back on' when the time is right, and when you ask the dev's about it they are very clear that the store will be coming back; so saying they are not there currently in game is a half truth as they are just currently 'hiding it'.
-A game that will be pay to win/play/continue at launch and is showing no signs of changing
-Fan boi's that will attack and troll (aggressively) anyone who even brings up the pay to win's placed throughout the game, denying that they even are there
-Fan boi's that will attack and troll (aggressively) anyone who even brings up Minecraft, Terraria, or any other similiar game for any reason other than to say they sucked
-Fan boi's who will attack and troll (aggressively) anyone who even suggests that some (any) game mechanic is broken and needs to be fixed
-By all accounts (according to fan boi's) a game that shouldn't be in Alpha, should be on shelves everywhere today as it is a complete product that God himself would play
-A game that what you buy now in early access will most likely be what you get when game launches, any new content (such as stained glass and a slew of other building obects) will be for sale at the store... Yeah, if you want to build in this building for free game it will cost you... But it isn't pay to play! I swear!
-Dev's that will respond to you within minutes of post if all you are doing is giving digital pleasure provided free of charge, and Dev's that will all but ignore any of the threads that have critique, mention Minecraft/Terraria, pay to play, etc, unless they are trying to fuel their army of fan boi's who attack like wolves, unrestrained or calmed by the devs...
-If you get in now a lot of what they might be selling to others later you might get for free! But wait... It will cost you to get in now...

Pros of this game:
-If you are lonely and want to feel like part of a wolf pack and don't mind selling your soul to get it, there is a tight group here that wouldn't mind taking you in. You can feel warm and protected and important and VIP and better than all of those 'other people' who actually want the game to get better
-If you have money and don't know what to do with all of it, this game will help you!
-Breathtaking graphics for this style of game and just enough content to get you interested, frustrated, and then annoyed to the point where you wish there was something you could buy to fix your problem...
-Currently called 'Minecraft on graphical steroids with less content but that's for sale'

Cons of this game:
-What you see is what you get, the hogwash being thrown around like 'your voice matters' and 'they actually change the game based on critique' is really not happening- fan boi's make sure of that and dev's let them. Sure, if you want to throw in an idea for a brick? Absolutely they want to hear that, they can sell it!
-Huge two faced community, over the top fake friendly on the one hand and trained feral wolves on the other. If you think something is broken, keep it to yourself.
-The entire point of being in an early access is broken because of above points, might as well wait for game to come out
-Feels more like a Beta, in which the game is in the condition it will be at launch, and all they are doing is getting 'block ideas' from community (and other similiar objects) to sell in the future
-Serious lack of content... If you are coming from Terraria, or even Minecraft, you will find yourself in an empty world. But it is early access, that will change! Maybe... But most of the dev's time is clearly spent trying to 'fine tune' their pay to play mechanics and bricks they plan on selling you and not on actual content.
-There are a ton of great looking sandbox games coming up soon which are not going the FTP pay to play route, this is not an 'only option' kind of deal
-Currently online only on their homemade servers; further putting up the red flags that you have a dev CO that wants all the $$$.

Bottom line:
Could this game be worth playing at launch? No doubt about it... But is there any reason for you to pay now just to give them ideas on what they can sell back to you in the future? Is the early access worth the money? No... Don't waste the time and/or the support, there are other indie companies that would die for your support and are actually trying to add real content to their games; not just pay to continue, or artificially inflating gameplay time, or riddle the game with 'slow downs!'. And if you think you can come in and change anyones mind, that you could save this game and help it become bigger and better than Minecraft; think again, fan boi's will attack and insist the game is in perfect working condition. I beg you gaming community, don't support pay to play games and ruin gaming forever; let these games change or die.

Currently there is no control over the trolls in the community (on the threads or grief in game; as such myself and my friends have left the community worlds as well as unsub'd from all the threads) and the game has way too many stop blocks put into place to take money (currently it is centered at and around the 'obsidian level', where the best lights, extractors, ect are all made with obsidian) where everything degrades and you are forced to rebuild and search for new minerals to farm to build the same item again, etc etc etc; anyone who is familiar at all with the pay to win/play games and has half a brain can see the writing all over the walls of this game. If the game direction changes and if the dev's get control of their own community (in game and out of game), things could change; but in its current state and direction of pay to play, the gaming community needs to step up and let these games die or watch as gaming as we know it dies.

TL:DR= You want to know how the game plays and don't believe me go to Playfulcorp.com/candycraft2

Game looks pretty, plays smooth. Thats about as far as they got with it.

Interface is half-built. Can't even see the keybinds in-game, and the keybind menu out of game is utterly irrelivent and makes absolutely no sense.
No control for the field of view, which is supidly narrow considering how close the mobs are to you when attacking you.
Can't group with friends, or disable friendly fire.
The night time mobs are insanely overpowered. Killing the player in 3 hits.
Game is not ready to be played or even tested. They actually have to build some mechanics.
They don't even have a female body model.

I got the impression the devs came up with the idea "What if we made minecraft with smooth gameplay and graphics?" So they made the core mechanics and it worked. Then they lost interest.

This is just another Minecraft wannabe vaporware project.
Move along.

I wish there was a "blah" review.
Creativerse is one of many Minecraft "next generation" games, hoping to cash in on that $2B trend. It's a good game. It's visually more attractive than MC, but then, aren't they all? There are some interesting novel new ideas, in the arena of mineral extraction. The character avatars are currently limited to two congenital twin white people with the same armor/clothing. Here's to hoping they introduce more diversity of races, both real and fantasy.

You could spend a lot of time in this game, like Minecraft, just wandering around. They have plugged in more mobs, and the crafting system is more streamlined. One of their selling points in their own copy was "No more googling for craft recipes!" Ok, that's cool and everything, but not exactly original.

What needs to happen is for the developers to COMPLETELY disavow themselves of the pay for content model. They need to make an original game that works, right now, that people will flock to, or else it's just another bloated dead beta corpse in the water. When they said they wanted to charge for content and upgrades and rushed completion of contruction (they were/are going to use a pay-to-hurry-completion model similar to every exploitative MMORPG ever), that really pushed them into the margins. It was a major PR messup.

I know I'm probably not the first to suggest:

NPCs that are actually interesting and contribute to the environment in an original way. Vendors are the first thing people make in sandboxes. Okay, what could be more interesting? NPCs that give you missions. Okay, that's great. That would improve the game. What else? NPCs that form relationships with the characters, that can tell stories.

The mobs are more interesting in Creativerse than in Minecraft. They have "special moves" which seems to promise a lot of potential. Unfortunately, they're a little stupid, although seemingly more dangerous than in Minecraft.

Create features that are interesting to explore and interact with, not just showcases of a new graphical innovation or mob. Minecraft is minecraft. You can't compete with minecraft by being Minecraft. At this current stage, I see no major innovation in this game. No story, no new angle. Fun and playable, but nothing I'd buy again if given the chance.

I've had this game for a couple of months. I've held off on reviewing it
since I figured I might get the hang of it or it might get better.
I haven't and it hasn't. Only good thing about the game is the graphics.
It looks good . They just did some update and now the few crafting station
stuff I had is gone. I've looked and looked but cannot get anything to upgrade
so I can gather stone. Without stone there is no point in bothering with this game.
Nobody should pay anything more than 1 or 2 dollars for this and even then
there's better similar games on Ipad and Android for 1 or 2 dollars.
I like to be considerate and constructive but this game isn't a game.
It has nothing to to bring to the table and considerably less than most games of this ilk.
Sorry guys, but make it creative without searching for the lost city of gold and add
intelligent npcs or this isn't going to cut it.

Dear Consumers, Avid Gamers, and Concerned Passerby's
It makes me sad to read all the negitive reviews on this game, it almost kept me from getting it to be honest. After playing this game for 11 hours straight I can honestly say that although aesthetically similiar to minecraft, with alot of the same gameplay elements as minecraft. It is not minecraft at all. In the time up untill writing this review I have made a multilevel portal system using the built in nameable portals, created a chest based item sorting system using the nameable chests, created a medieval thatched cottage with a sloped roof(screw you minecraft stairs) and went to the depths of hell in search of precious metals while avoiding evil pigs, anglerfish, and other pokemon-esque monsters. True it is like minecraft in some ways but that is what makes this game truely awesome. It takes elements from a good game and goes a step up and kind of to the side. Minecraft was not the first of its kind, it helped make the genre popular sure, but this could be the next step in the evolution.

Some points to note:

-Being in early access means things can change
-Your paying for early access, a chance to play it before it goes free to play for everyone
-It has few bugs, but being in alpha it has to be expected
-It has great Mechanics so far
-A butt load of content(11 hours in and still so much I havent seen)
-Runs so smooth, over 60 fps on the highest settings
-memorable gameplay
-Fun respawn mechanic (via a telepad that you can relocate any number of times)
-TELEPADS! You can teleport to your friends, they can teleport to you and it doesnt ever feel like your cheating.
Cons: (Not included things that go along with any alpha)
-No mounts yet (have already been hinted at though)
-Besides combat, few survival elements, e.i. no hunger or thirst system
-Slight learning curve(Although very satisfying when you do figure things out)
-lack of explosion noises(Tnt makes tiny boom)
Otherwise I personally love this game as it stands now. I also give it 10/10

Edit: Now with many more hours under my belt I am happy to report that this game is very little like minecraft. I ran into what I would equate to the Nether in minecraft, I found that I could dig deeper still. Let me tell you, there are places and things down in the depths minecraft would have nightmares about ;) still loving it 10/10
If you guys have positive or negitive experiences you want to share to add to this review I really want to hear them.

For the 6 hours I played, non-stop mind you, I have to give this game a lot of credit. A friend bought this for me after telling me about it and I was a bit iffy on the idea of another sandbox game similar to Minecraft. But, there is a lot of differnces between the two games.

The structure of the game itself gives a whole new feel if you are use to playing Minecraft. It's not as easy as chop some wood, mine some stone, then you're good to go. There is a lot of depth to just the crafting alone. While it is still fairly easy to find all the resources you need, you need a lot of them. Even after you collect them, you might need to use some tools to break it down into a different matterial. (For example, breaking vines down into twine.) Yes, you have wait times on crafting stuff. While it isn't too terribly bad, the times do get a bit longer as you start using more advanced materials such as Obsidian, Iron, and Diamonds. But in my opinion, it adds more to the game because now you have to wait 5 minutes to advance and in that time, you could go out and collect more resources or even go spelunking.

The creatures in the game is definitely unique. While some do remind me of creatures from Jak and Daxter (the night Pigsy's and night Leafi's), they still have a unique vibe to them. And they of course vary in difficulty. While a few of them have unique skills such as blinding you for a short time or spinning to do a lot of damage, there isn't a lot to worry about as long as you keep some distance.

Also, there is furniture. And to be honest, it actually looks pretty nice. There is also a lot of ways to customize and build your own house and make it stand out from your friends. You have different types of carpet, walls, and even slanted roof planks you can craft. You even have different colored lamps. You could use them like my friend does and make each room different colors. Though the blue sometimes confuses me because I never know if it is dark out or not. But it still looks really nice. Much like a room with a bunch of black lights.

To add on to the crafting idea to the game, you do not start off with being able to craft everything in the game. You have to work your way up and find the recipes. While some of them are scattered in chests around the world, you usually unlock new ones after you craft something else. Like weapons for instance. After you craft a wood sword, you unlock the crafting recipe for a stone sword. Which means you have to work to find better things, meaning you actually have a goal to work towards.

While there is still some bugs in the game with it being early access, it still runs fairly smooth and it's easy to play with friends. No port forwarding or setting up custom servers. Simply create a world and set a password so your friends can join up. Even when you are offline, they can still join the world and continue which to me, is pretty awesome. I would gladly recommend this game to anyone who likes Minecraft or sandbox games in general. And I think if you actually take some time with this game, you'll find there is a lot of possibilites with it.

It was almost like an accident. I didn't want to buy it at the first. But for some reason it felt very interesting to me, so i was like "screw it, lets give it a try".

The game man ... Its hard to explain feelings when playing this game. It doesnt really matter what ill write or what anybody will read about this game. If that person is familiar with a minecraft, he will think that this is nothing more than a bad clone for the most parts.

I played minecraft. And i mean i played a lot of modded versions of mc, because playing vanilla is like playing 1/4 of minecraft. And ye its amazing game but after some time it felt like it needs something new. Like mc 2.0? I dont know what exactly i would like. It just feels so old.

Creativerse looks similar to mc but what exactly do you expect from building voxel sandbox game? Dont be crazy.
I didnt expect much when i started to play this game. And i had "mc clone" in my mind too. But from the very start i just didnt believe what i feel. Everything felt so fresh. I dont want to say "new" but "more enjoyable to me" seems like better explanation. Also i didnt get mc in my mind a single time. And for early access its already so well done. I simple love it and thats it. This game still needs a LOT of content to be made but the game is still in development and what is important, everything it already has, works so well and is fun to play with friends.

The closest comparison for me would be - this is similar like LoL to Dota.
Ye, its clone. But you still cant just say that those games are the same. Playing both feel different. And both are fun.

That is how i see it. Not a single care given about any hard-core mc fanboys. Play your game you like. Leave a game that others like. I almost didnt even buy it because of them. I am lucky that i did.

That is all i wanted to say and share with others. I wish good luck for developers to make this game awesome.
Now i have to go back to my fort.
My new friend Pigsy is waiting for me. =P

...was finnished with all the content in about 2 days. Unless you never built things in other games like Minecraft, there is not much to get here.

+ nice graphics
+ intresting crafting and mining system

- very little content (compared to todays minecraft standarts)
- sometimes unstable
- cant customize keybindings and mouse speed (gamebreaking for me)

I'm sorry that I have bought this game as it sucks wihin the server connection screen. I have tried every possible solutions but none of them can fix the problem. I have played many games via steam and those required network connection / authorization but none of them have such problem. I have wait over a month for their update and hope that it can fix the problem but IT'S STILL SUCK WITHIN THE SAME SCREEN. I buy this game just because it clearly declared that it contain a single-player mode... WHAT'S THE POINT I HAVE TO CONNECT TO THE SERVER WHILE I SIMPLY WANT TO PLAY IN SINGLE-PLAYER MODE!?!?!?!?

Creativerse is a very enjoyable crafting/exploring game that has dominated my recent game time since purchasing it not long ago. While it has obvious ties to Minecraft it is much more than a mindless clone and I highly recommend it.

I want to start by specifically addressing the issue on the price and in-game store. The 20 dollars you pay now is for early access, the devs have repeatedly stressed that the game will be free-to-play at launch, and not only that but those of us that pay for early access will get free cash for the store anyway. The devs have also pulled the store for a rework since the community was unhappy with the pay to reduce crafting timers that was present and will be returning when it is reinstated. The store will not be pay-to-win or pay-to-play; it will be there for cosmetic and vanity items and not to directly give a player an advantage over others. The game is still in early access and while that does not forgive every issue, it does behoove one to not jump to conclusions against the business model when it’s in flux and the devs are already fixing it based on the community’s feedback, which is what early access is for!

That aside the game has a lot going for it. The game world is blocky but the textures are attractive and the game has a specific ‘feel’ that I enjoy. The character you play (currently only a young white male but a female version is coming soon and there have been discussions of increasing diversity and more customization options in the future) and the enemies you fight are not themselves blocky but are rather of a cartoony nature. The animations and combat are smooth and dynamic although we could use some ranged weapons and the night needs to be more dangerous than it currently is. We could of course also use more creature variety but there are more beings on this planet than meets the eye of the initial arrival and most have special attacks that may surprise you.

Exploration is rewarded by more than just finding a huge tree or a new mountain range or deep dark tunnels full of dangerous creatures, although those abound as well, there are chests that spawn all over the place that contain all kinds of things including new recipes to craft. The crafting often rewards rewards you by opening up new recipes and many new recipes are discussed on the community forums. I have opened up many cool new things to make and beyond building blocks, storage, crafting stations, and lighting, you have potions and bombs to create to deal with a variety of foes from benign to deadly, and there is also furniture, and of course armor and swords to make as well.

The game is still in early access and the devs are improving the game based on their own ideas and those of the community who are involved heavily in the evolution of the game, which is of course what early access is for but some early access games don’t deliver at all and few are as responsive as what I’ve seen from Playful games. I do agree with the abhorrence towards the in-game crafting timer reductions being purchased with real cash that some negative reviews have brought up and if they kept that model I would be aghast as much as anyone but the devs have shown a willingness to adjust and adapt and that issue has already been removed. There are of course some bugs and we need more biomes and more recipes that involve less-used resources, but Creativerse is already a worthy effort that I plan on playing for some time to come, give it a try and likely you will find a lot to love here.

Creativerse quickly leaves all other open world voxel sandbox games out of breath and trying to catch up. The graphics are stunning, the enemies are entrancing, and the controls are fairly intuitive. All of this in early alpha makes this game beyond exceptional. To add to this wonderful world is the community and the Dev support that can be found on the Steam forums. This quickly became my favorite game!
