“If you're like me, when you played Portal 2, you covered every room in as much bouncy gel as possible. Well now it's a whole lot easier, and you can color coordinate the walls with orange gel.”
Kotaku

“A surprising and fresh revival of Portal 2’s familiar puzzle elements.”
Jeep Barnett

“It looks great, it plays well, and it lasts 2-3 hours, giving it good value for money.”

I wouldn't complain about this mod if it were free, but charging for it doesn't make sense. It's significantly lower quality than a lot of free mods (Time Machine and Mel for example) and feels uninspired like the creators weren't actually into Portal as a series. The more difficult puzzles, as other reviewers have said, are based more on fake difficulty like requiring timing or luck over actually figuring out complicated solutions.

To put it simply, it's good, but not worth selling. Got tired of it fast even though I didn't pay for it myself.

I wasn't planning on getting this game until one of my friends gave me a -90% Coupon that's only 50 Cents.
Got back my 50 cents by selling 3 card drops that i got.

This mod is kinda easy at the start but also confusing later on it gets harder.
I don't play a lot of Puzzle games because i don't like playing hard(thinking) types of games but this one wasn't that hard for me.
Still a very good game to kill some time when ur bored.

I recommend getting it when it's on sale not buying it for 5 Euros because i don't think that this mod is worth that much. I pretty much got it for free and i enjoyed it.

Before anyone reads this review let me state this: Everyone already knows it costs money to play, and given how this point was driven home by many other people I do not feel any need to talk about it further here; this review is all about the actual game.

Aperture Tag is a very curious mod for Portal 2 that replaces the dual portal device with a specially designed paint gun that fires the two main types of gels: Repulsion (blue) and propulsion (orange). This shift in focus turns the game into a messy, but addicting style of gameplay.

From start to finish I had a blast using a gun that shot gel everywhere, and in limitless supply! There were points in the game when I just felt like coating the chambers with as much gel as possible, which indirectly served as a great venting technique to safely let out my frustration when I found myself stumped with a hard puzzle. I also enjoyed the transitions between maps; there's just something whimsical about riding vacuum tubes and getting a good look at the facility on the outside. I also liked the addition of the backdrops in the final set of levels, which definitely helped break from the monotony of the worn out and dilapidated industrial scenery that we've seen plenty of in the official Portal games. And lastly, the creativity of some of the maps were a real joy. Shooting turrets with blue gel, transferring gel through excursion funnels, not to mention those wicked half pipe turns with the speed gel, these were all some very cool mechanics.

There were only a couple qualms I had with the mod, and one of them was Nigel, for starters. Nigel was... a very drab core to interact with. Not because of his personality, but because his Voice Actor clearly didn't put much passion behind the role. Poor voice acting can make or break a character. My other problem was that the workshop isn't fully functional across all computer platforms; if you're on anything else other than Windows then you won't be able to make custom maps, which is a shame.

Overall though I thought this was a fun mod to play, and the negative points pale in comparison to the enjoyment I had out of it. Aperture Tag proves to provide a fun and unique twist to the beloved Portal series that will keep your attention all the way to the end.
