Is Danmaku Unlimited 2 a good Danmaku ? Yes !

Danmaku mean "Rain of bullets" in Japanese (or something like that), it's a "new" kind of Shoot 'm Up. You're very powerful generaly, and fast. But you've to deal with bullets, a lot of bullets, OMG bullets EVERYWHERE !

The game isn't easy (good point), musics are delicious and goes very well with the action (very good). Graphics aren't very beautiful, but clear and I like the color pallet (good point as well).

You can choose two game modes (burst and classic), you can buy some upgrades for your ship or lives/credit. I don't like that much upgrades in Shmups, IMHO those kind of games may be played with only 1 credit and without starting with bonus : the game will be more more more fun :-) But I can ignore this step, so watever.

Burst mode bring a beam (button 2) and the Trance mode (button 3). When activated the beam can "broke" bullets, you're safe using this. The Trance mode make you powerful.
Classic mode bring an alternate shoot (button 2) and The Trance mode as well (button 3). No beam in Classic mode, but the Trance is better : more powerful and safe (small bullets disapear when activated).
I personnaly choose the Classic mode. The Trance mode is safe and the alternate shoot make you slower, so you can use it to slalom between waves of bullets.

Note that you can rotate the display, to put your screen vertically. Very useful !

Pretty good, but there are better shmups out there that you should play first. Forget the fact that this game is cheap, the few extra dollars are worth it for a good shmup.

Fun bullet hell shoot 'em up. You have two mission modes called burst and classic which both have 5 missions with mid and end bosses. There is also a boss rush and free play mode to mess with. Difficulties randge from easy to extreme if you're crazy enough to dodge a crap load of bullets.

If you like these kinds of games then this is one worth checking out. It's been on sale for $1 too so wouldn't cost much to give you some hours of entertainment.

Not your grandmothers kaleidoscope.

This is one of the few Bullet hell games I got really into; I've a tried a number of them but never found them compelling enough to learn the patterns or get acclimated to the chaos.

This game has a ship but the actual hit box is clearly defined even amongst all the chaos. There is even a focus beam attack that will additionally destroy bullets as well as do damage when it gets too hectic. For want of a better term, the game is mildly RPG-ish in that you earn skill points to increase damage or give yourself more health/continues. It's also come to my attention that 'Dark Souls' has become somewhat of a genre, and in that regard the boss battles in the this game evoke that sentiment. Insofar that they have repeatable and recognizable bullet spray patterns.

The game also features a superb OST. Its a sort of progressive techno metal (you may know the term 'djent') that I find extremely pleasing.

Very enjoyable but short arcade-esk bullet hell campaign with one of the best OST's maybe ever. (possible hyperbole may have been used in previous statement however the truth is not far off)
