Creeper World 3 is what happens when cellular automata takes over a strategy simulation. Instead of discrete units that attack your base, a fluid-like substance spreads over the terraformable terrain. Your base, your weapons, your strategy... you must adapt them all.

Acerca de este juego

Creeper World 3: Cellular automata takes over a strategy simulation.

Instead of discrete units that attack your base, a fluid-like substance spreads over the terraformable terrain. Your base, your weapons, your strategy... you must adapt them all.

Creeper World 3 bends what it means to be a strategy title.

Instead of heavily scripted A.I., players find themselves engaging an enemy with theoretically predictable behavior yet which is shockingly interesting to engage. Players can build fortifications and stick around forever. Players can go for domination, quick strategic kills, or amass huge stockpiles of resources. Some play for speed, others to create art. Tiny maps, large maps, five minute missions, five day missions... the simulation scales to handle all of these scenarios.

User generated content is critical and supported at multiple levels in Creeper World 3.

Dial up worlds using the DMD (Dial Map Device) and tweak dozens of constraints. Then, play and share the addresses via an on-line database. Create your own maps using the built-in map editor and upload and share on-line. Or, join with thousands of other players and peruse the databases of worlds created by others. Want to create a new weapon, a unit, an enemy, or an effect? Use the built in scripting language to create what you dream. Hundreds of engine commands are exposed and examples abound on the forums and grow daily. You can even take the built in story maps and make your own. In fact, all of the built in story missions were written using the built-in editor and the CRPL scripting language.

Some of the high level features are:

  • Thermodynamic/fluid physics based play.
  • Billions of total missions.
  • Story arc with insane and unique enemies.
  • Explore hundreds of star systems with thousands of worlds in Prospector missions.
  • Hundreds of hand crafted missions in the Alpha Sector.
  • Dial up your own mission worlds using the 'Dial Map Device' and share the address.
  • Create your own maps using the included map editor.
  • Play on maps of variable size, dimension, and shape.
  • Script your own enemies and effects using the built in scripting language.
  • Terraform the landscape during missions to take the higher ground.
  • Discover experimental weapons that devastate the enemy.
  • Share thousands of unique maps with an established, enthusiastic on-line community.
  • Features a unique, original, and awesome soundtrack.

Fantastic cosy little game, in spite of its flash beginnings.
Lots of levels with varying amounts of strategy required, and almost too addictive to play, I've beaten it fully 3 times over already!

Whole heartedly recommend for those that are natural Turtlers in strategy games, and to look to the free flash games to see if this game is for you, this iteration of the series improved on mechanics in most of every way

I must say that this game is your greatest creeper world yet. I would love to see a Co-op Campaign or a Creeper vs Humans PVP addition or add some feature that could releate to multiplayer in someway.

It's tower offense against the smooze. Simple graphics, but very well constructed gameplay and quite addictive. The campaign takes between 10 and 20 hours, but there are a lot more levels beyond that.

This game cannot be rightfully compared to any other game I've played... It's just, a simple masterpiece. Don't let its simplicity fool you, this game has enough content for you to completely lose connection to reality. It's like a black hole, the time around you speeds up without you noticing it. After one hour you see 20 hours have accumulated on Steam. Buy it, it's definitely worth a shot!

Pros: see above
cons: Story is a bit bland.

This is a no-brainer. Get it, play it, love it.

I've been a fan of the creeper world series since the beginnning. I love the unique feel of this game, as well as the strategy that's involved. If you've never played this game and just want to try it, there's several free versions of the game online, and if you like creeper world 3 i highly recommed playing the first two games.

This game is like a much more relaxed real-time strategy because through most of the campaign your biggest challenge is not reacting quickly but reacting appropriately to the approaching situation or immediate threat. Most of your units are in fact structures, slowly spreading and building up your base across the maps. Once you've finished the campaign, there are tons of extremely difficult challenge maps, some very interesting player-created maps, and more. You definitely won't run out of content, and this game is easy to pick up as well. If you're looking for a RTS that is almost all macro and doesn't require tons of hours to get the hang of, this is a good pick. Doesn't have multiplayer though.

Creeper World 3: Arc Eternal

I think that Creeper World 3; Arc Eternal may be one of the greatest games that currently exist. I will add a TL;DR at the end.

Gameplay

Creeper World 3: Arc Eternal is a perfect mix of RTS and Tower Defense along with aspects of slight management. You fight against a liquid like and versatile foe known as Creeper. This game has infinite, and I do mean nearly infinite replayability. Once you finish the base story you can go and do thousands of more missions created by the creators and the community. This is the best strategy game I have ever played. There is not much in this world like being completely surrounded by Creeper and slowly, ever so slowly pushing back and destroying every last piece of it. There are tons of ways to beat levels whether you want to attack swiftly with risk or play for a longer game to build your layout to counteract the ever attacking foe. You can even create anti-creeper or terraform the land around you to add even more to this games amazing functions. Overall this game has a very unique and formidable foe and is the best and one of the most exhilarating strategy games I have ever played.

Graphics/Sounds

I love the look of the creeper, weaponry, even the terrain. The music fits with the game giving an adventurous and formidable feel of the unknown.

Pros/Cons

Pros

+ Unique game playstyle
+ Enormous amount of replayability
+ Addicting
+ Ranges from super easy to maps where you will wonder who was sadistic enough to make it
+ Huge amount of maps to play
+ Good story
+ Map editor

Cons

- May becomes repetitive to some

Final Thoughts

I remember playing the first Creeper World on kongregate and thinking "I love this game, holy crap it's amazing". Next came Creeper World 3: Abraxis and I played it the moment it was available and again loved it but wished there was more than the 12 missions and then around a year later I got Creeper World 3: Arc Eternal on steam. I love the game, just love it. This is definitely one of my favourite games to ever play. I also found out a while ago a new game which I think is called Particle Fleet is being developed by Knuckle Cracker and I really hope it makes its eventual way onto steam since it looks amazing. This game to me is a piece of true satisfaction and fun. This is a mix of two of my favourite types of games which are RTS and Tower Defense and it has combined those two perfectly in my opinion.

TL;DR

Creeper World 3: Arc Eternal is a great mix of RTS and Tower Defense games. It has a unique and constantly attacking foe known as the Creeper and is an astounding strategy game. If you are unsure whether to get this game or not check out Creeper World 3: Abraxis on kongregate to get an idea of the basics of the game and general gameplay.

Because of this game Steam is convinced that I like Tower Defence games...
I don't, I just like Creeper World series, that's it.

In Creeper World games, you set up energy collection grid and use collected energy to beat back titular creeper, the blue, oozing fluid whose behaviour (according to extras from CW1) is described by modified heat transfer equations. Every building and weapon costs energy to build, and most cost energy to maintain, forcing you to constantly expand to new areas to build new collectors/reactors to beat creeper back by few tiles more until you can escape (CW1) or kill it for good (CW2/CW3)

That's it. But the way Creeper interacts with shape of the map means that there's a lot of strategy involved: where do you set up a defence? Can you cover the valley with collectors AND fortify it before creeper floods it? Do you go for tight grid of expensive but efficient and easily defensible reactors or for wide and redundant but hard to defend net of collectors? What combination of weapons will you use? How many blasters? Mortars? Sprayers? Maybe use Bombers, Strafers and Cargo planes to open another front on top of the hill instead of fighting uphill? How do you handle valley and mountain ranges?

Not to mention player-made maps of all sorts, including puzzles, "play as creepers" and tricky maps with lots of unexpected scripting.

Bonus highlight of the game is CRPL = Creeper Reverse Polish Language, a built-in scripting language giving map creators total control, even roguelike maps can be made.

I wholeheartedly recommend entire series, available from creator's page. Only latest instalment is on Steam.

It's a lot of fun, and for the price I got it at I feel well rewarded.

The game plays like there's some kind of weird oil leak most of the time, and it's our job to keep the goo at bay and fight our way to the source. Unfortunately the game rarely extends beyond that so once you've managed to create a stable defense it can get a little dull.
Story missions vary it up more so it's less predictable and forces you to stay on your toes.

I personally love this game because it can scratch that one itch we all have for a casual, but tough strategy game.

I really really like this game. I bought it during a sale for .74 because why not.

Played the first hour and the story is really boring but the gameplay is quite fun actually.
Played a few more hours and gameplay got complex after a while. New towers and enemys get introduced.
After a while maps get certain gimmics that keep the gameplay fresh and interesting.

After i was done with the campaign i discoverd the user made maps.

Its really good. Maybe not 15 bucks good but good.

What happens when you combine a tower defense game with supreme commander?
Creeper World 3 happens, and if you like any of the two before mentioned games then you should have a great time with this one!

You will not fight brain dead enemies who just walk down a single lane. Instead you have fight in all directions against a nano-machine like blob that is ever expanding across the battlefield. Add in attack robots, airstrikes and other nasty suprises and your in for a tough but fun game!

Contentwise Creeper World 3 offers quite alot for such a small title. A campaign with an interesting story (yes a td/strategy game with a story) unlockable bonus levels and the ability to create and share your own maps with the rest of the community.
All this combined will give you HOURS of challenging fun and replayability.

The sound effects and overall visuals are pretty basic but they get the job done. The soundtrack on the other hand is quite nice despite just having a handfull of tracks.

Graphics... "functional"
Story... "there" ;)

most people will see this and switch to the next game and thereby miss one of the greatest games available at the moment. There is so much depth and replayability in this game it's a shame that its presentation prevents it from reaching a larger audience. Having played computer games since the early days of the C64 I saw this game in a bundle somewhere and immediately knew I had to have it. Luckily for me it even was available in a Linux version and for virtually nothing - considering how much fun I had with this game since then I feel like I robbed the developer!

Needless to say that I recommend this game to anyone that has some affinity to tower defense or strategy games in general. Even if you are turned off by the graphics - give it a try! If you don't like it you wasted a (compared to the full price titles) tiny amount of money, but if you don't give it a try you might miss out on a gem that will give you many hours of enjoyment ;)

Finally, a tower defense game that lets me do things MY way! The campaign and controls are slightly overwhelming for the first few hours, but in the best possible way. The campaign keeps up a great pace at introducing new concepts. It also does enough to walk you through it, but leaves plenty for you to discover on your own as well. The balance it strikes has really been a treat. This was definitely worth snapping up on sale. The only off-putting thing is that the soundtrack only has 3 or 4 songs and quickly becomes repetitive.
