What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As some of you may know, we already realeased a private Alpha for our Kickstarter backers at the end of december 2014. We got excellent feedback from them, and they shared a lot their experiences with us to help improve our game. That helped us a lot in the development.

Now, we want to take the necessary time to keep doing a great game, we don't want to hurry and botch our game. Setting an Early Access on Steam is a good way to fund many new aspects of the development and enhancement, keeping close a larger community to listen to their feedback while the development evolve.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We can't give an exact date because we want to do an awesome game above all. However, we expect to have finished it in spring 2016, but can't do any promises.

If the game needs more time we will spend more time on its development. We don't want to realease it half-finished or buggy.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We'll expand the content and improve the game throughout development, features will also be refined and adjusted based on players feedback.
We plan to have:

- Performance improvements,
- More playable characters,
- More environments and dungeons (specific mission zones),
- More missions modes,
- More backstory,
- More musics and sounds,
- A complete and rich mission editor for players.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“- We set a tutorial to help you handle the controls (run, jump, grind, wall jump, handle, scan a swith to open a door or acitivate a mission, squat, carry a gameball and throw it on a target, rewind at a previous position)
- The map is a large and vertically height city,
- Many missions are already available (races, gameball matchs, postman missions)
- A mission editor is available for the players that allow them to share their missions on line.
- You can play as well on line and off line. there is no difference between these two modes except you can meet people in game or not.
- Online missions are the same as offline ones but can be played with/against other people.
- There are 4 playable characters with swap color and height change possibility,
- They can improve their speed, jump, force, and energy with XP points earned with missions.
- Cameras will send you secuboxes after you when you are carrying a gameball to get it back, or will deploy holographic barriers to obstruct your way.
- 60 hidden gamegirls all around the city,
- Sabotage the Great Administrator's propaganda by deactivating the anti-video game holograms you will see in the city.
- The Gamer Resistance put some holographic items in the city. These items will above all guide the beginners to roam into the city and take some risks, offering some xp points.
- The scanner will help you to locate missions or players around you. It also indicates the cameras and the anti-video game holographic propaganda.
- You can also use the scanner to get informations about the story of the city while scanning some elements (poster, environment objects, holograms...)”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access is less expensive than the finished game, the price will not change during the Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We really pay attention to all the comments/feedback/walkthrough videos concerning our game. We want to listen to our community.
Then, people can share their in game experience, their feedback, or their fanarts on our forum with us and other Hover:RoG players, but also with people who are just curious about the game.
As you know, we are developers. But we are above all players! And we share many of your wishes. It's important for us to be sure our community and us want the same game.”

New Patch Today: Hideki's musics are here!

We released today a major patch for the Early Access on Steam. It brings many new cool stuff into the game and solves a bunch of minor issues.

New Stuff :

  • Hideki's Musics are here!
As you know, we have the great pleasure to partner with Hideki Naganuma as guest composer for Hover: Revolt of Gamers. As a reminder, Hideki is the composer of Jet Set Radio, Jet Set Radio Future, Sonic Rush, and many more great video game soundtracks.
You can listen to Hideki's tracks by going to the Fusty Pub or to the Gamer’s HQ!
  • The Trick Score System is back!
Tricks don’t give energy anymore, but they increase your score, which in turn will give you more energy at the end of a trick combo. Grinding and sliding will keep giving energy instantly.
After a 100 points trick combo, you will generate an Energy Aura, it’s useful to boost your allies, open special containers or for some missions.
  • 2 New Mission Types : Trickscore missions and Condenser.
  • Two missions added in district A
  • The Codex has been updated!
  • The ‘Friends Only’ online mode is now available.
  • There’s a new tunnel in Haven District, which leads from MoreMoreMore to Korupa.
  • Some wooden springboards and grind springboards have been added throughout Haven District.
  • After the Sewers missions, Momo is now waiting for you under the HQ’s entrance.
  • When scanning, missions far from you are now displayed.
  • There are now step sounds when landing from a jump! (about time!)
  • Photon has been updated. (Online multiplayer system)
  • Every pop-up messages have been redesigned.
  • New container type has been added, it’s locked with a condenser and unlockable with a high trick score.
  • Containers light has been increased.
  • There are more information displayed when hovering on chips in the character window.
  • Slight feet vibration when sliding or grinding.
  • Slides have been radically changed, you can now take curves and keep your speed.
  • Energy is saved during rewinds, to avoid some mechanic exploits and make it easier to use. If you take an electric shock, your energy won’t be saved.
  • You cannot interact with items during custom missions or when creating custom missions.
  • Steam must be open to be able to play.
  • Mission musics are now more diverse and don’t depend on the scene/map.
  • Spy Drones Energy no longer displayed, counter now displays the remaining hits needed to take it down.
  • You can now see the Administrative district from afar.
  • When doing an “every man for himself” mission where you lose, the winner is now displayed.
  • The Mac version has been updated too
Various Debug and other fixes/improvements :
  • Gamers and Breakers portraits are now displayed with the correct colors during dialogs!
  • You don’t drop the gameball anymore after a very high jump.
  • Rank is now correctly displayed when it’s above one thousand. (I feel a joke’s missing there…)
  • Slope management has been improved, jumps are now affected when running up slopes.
  • Holotello’s texture has been tweaked a bit.
  • Grinding is much simpler now, and jumping when sliding isn’t glitched anymore.
  • In 3rd person view, characters don’t look at the ground or the sky anymore, it made them look strange.
  • Rank is now correctly displayed during dialogs.
  • Spamming the slide key when running isn’t possible anymore.
  • Walljumps don’t make you lose speed anymore.
  • Some visually broken bumpers are now slightly tilted.
  • Spy drones sounds aren’t glitched anymore.
  • Graffitis textures are no longer overextended when looking at them from the side.
  • E-Swap points are now out of order less often.
