A good source port, but still feels like Valve went very mellow with this one.

Tbh this port gets alot of hate due to bugs and the fact that valve hardly changed anything. With the bugs i didn't expirence any so that doesn't change my perception on this game. Now the changes, Ragdoll physics, Water textures etc very minor things, this is all because this is Half Life running on the Source engine that games like TF2, Counter Strike GO and Half Life 2 run on however this does not mean that it will change the graphics drastically. Now i do prefer the Original over this one however that does not mean this one is BAD. I would buy this if you prefer Source Engine over The GoldSrc engine and you like enemies flopping over dead after you kill them over them going through a death animation.

First person view models are invisible, and the Tau Cannon crashes the game whenever used.

I got this as part of the Half Life bundle and it's quite possibly the most pointless videogame remaster I've ever seen. Everything in it actually looks *worse* than the original Half Life except for the water.

Before downvoting me, please read. I do not hate Half-Life, in the matter of the fact Half-Life is one of my favorite games of all time. But this game is not Half-Life that you will enjoy and have fun with. It might have better shadows and water, but after Steampipe update, Valve released unfinished port to Source Engine 2013 which broke a lot of stuff. Before steampipe update. Everything was fine and worked perfectly.
This same goes for Half-Life Deathmatch: Source.

Half-Life Source before Steampipe update: 7/10
Half-Life Source after Steaampipe update: 3.5/10

The game, It is good.
The transfer to source? Horrendously ripping off consumers.
The water, corpse ragdolls and a few other very, this next word is important. "MINOR." Details were swapped with the half life versions.
A very minor example is the blood texture, hell maybe that wasnt changed.
If you dont have half life already buy this by all means yes, but if you dont, this is a little bit cheaper.
But if you want extra bang for your buck for a dated game, you could get the Black Mesa mod, on steam for substansially more, but the crew deserves it for the remarkable work done there.

Furthermore, Im concluding this with, dont buy it if you have the original, or Just get Black Mesa if you dont want 1999 Textures with Half Life two effects, and some little details.

I have played Half-Life far longer on PS2 by the way.

Beat it while offline, took about 20 hours. It's a great shooter in the way it plays and in the spreadout of obtaining weapons. Compared to the original which I played some of there seems to be more glitches and bugs in this than the original though. So don't rebuy it if you already have the original.

I know this almost goes without saying, but any gamer alive should play the Half-Life games. Even compared with the modern flashy big-budget single-player shooter extravaganzas of today (I'm looking at you, Far Cry and Bioshock), which are rightly heralded as amazing games, Half-Life makes your jaw drop at how amazing of an experience it is to fight throuth the crumbling Black Mesa facility battling humans and headcrabs alike. This game really makes you realize how much Jason Brody, Booker Dewitt, and every other major fps protagonist since owe the man with the crowbar, Gordon Freeman. If you are a sane human being who can play a video game, there is no excuse for you to not play Half-Life. None!

I've stayed away from the Half Life series for a very long time, solely because I didn't even have a Steam account! But I recently bought Half Life: Source and Half Life 2, and I must say, they've already become some of my favourite games.

The formula in this game, although the game is 10 years old, still feels fresh to me, and feels like a new game. It's also one of the first games I've tried of this genre that I've actually enjoyed. The graphics are also fantastic for their age.

Well done Valve!
