“We've decided to launch Interplanetary as an Early Access game. This way we can get players more involved in its design process and develop it according to the their expectations. We'll be updating Interplanetary regularly, so make sure to weigh in with your feedback!

Interplanetary is still in alpha state, so many central features are missing altogether, and there are still a lot of bugs in the game. However, we've balanced the game in a way that it's still possible to have enjoyable skirmishes while testing the basic features. So, if you purchase Early Access to the alpha version, you'll get to take part in the development and also receive all the upcoming updates until the game is finished.

Please notice that at the time of release we've had very little chances to test the lobby server with more than ten people at a time, so things may be unstable at first.

Also notice that mobile broadband connections (3G, 4G etc.) are not currently supported for Online Multiplayer mode and some players have reported problems hosting the game on Windows 8. We are currently working on a solution to these problems.

Interplanetary Update #6.6 and Whack-a-Dev IX

Greetings, Interplanetarists! It feels like today's a great day for a new Interplanetary patch, don't you think? Today on the menu: balance tweaks and network and structure graphics fixes. Finally, no more game crashes while turn-processing and building graphics are once again tied to intel!

Check the full change log:

Interplanetary Version 0.6.4981_EAC_6.6

  • Fixed online games crashing at turn processing due to Laser weirdness
  • City and Building graphics are now visible only if the player has enough intel
  • Camera now centers on the player planet when entering Targeting View
  • Material production upgrades changed to consume Planet Material
  • Cities now get destroyed when population reaches 0, as opposed to 1/6 of maximum
  • Sun gravity increased
  • Laser effects made slightly more visible
  • Defense building Visibility increased
  • Railgun Visibility slightly decreased
  • Missile Population damage increased
  • Laser Population damage increased
  • Defense Energy consumption increased
  • Upgradeable Intel amount for Data Security Hub decreased
  • Upgradeable Counterintel amount for Telescope Array decreased

Interplanetary is a turn-based strategy artillery game based on a hard scifi setting. It offers players an interplanetary battlefield where they can develop their home planets and use massive artilleries to wage war.

It's an arms race of interplanetary scale, with each planet developing increasingly powerful railguns, missiles and even beam weapons. Sometimes, the greatest foe is the unpredictable planetary system with its treacherous gravity wells. Mind your surroundings, use them to your advantage and blast your enemies back to the stone age!

Played with friends. Everybody shot at once. There was 60 railgun shots. 2 Asteroid Redirections. 1 Solar laser. After everything hit I pulled up the damage report. Game crashed. 11/10

As of v0.2:
Artillery simulator in space with a twist.
Technology research, building things, big guns and of course planning trajectories included.
Play sessions can be quite lengthy. At the moment it's way more fun to play with 3+ players.

Also now it's only possible to play with your friends (as in - no AI), so unless you have friends to play with or want to hotseat with yourself - I'd suggest to wait for AI update.

Awesome ! Of course it needs some improvments and some more features to be a perfect game.
Last day a friend came at home and we did two games and the same computer. It was very fun and it lasted around 5-5.5 hours for the two ones. It wasn't boring, even exiting.
Buy to support the game PLEASE !!

An interesting game that is best played with friends, Interplanetary puts you in control of a planet pitched in a fierce battle against the other players (And the developpers hinted AI may be coming soon) by shooting at eachother with railguns, missiles, lasers, and superweapons. This sounds easy enough but you'll find that when you need to shoot your opponents, your railgun will be facing the other direction due to your planet's rotation. Your lasers don't hit anything but air and empty soil because your opponent has worked on counterinteligence, and your missiles were brought off course by the gravity well of a passing gas giant. He takes the shot, but misses you just barely. And the gravity well of your planet redirects those railgun shots right into the orbit of a third player.

I did not expect it, but it is surprisingly challenging in your tactical and strategic choices. Do you build everything nearby so the early game railguns will do barely any damage at all, with everything you have fitting nicely under one defence structure... or do you spread out everything so a superweapon can't hit everything at the same time and destroy half your buildings with one well placed shot? Who do you aim at first? That guy who keeps shooting railguns at you and is obviously out for blood, or the guy who is peacefully building his war machine with mines and data security centers? The list goes on, but it has more than enough variety to allow for plenty of experimenting while it avoids having a single strategy that will always come out as the best.

It is certainly worth giving a try, with plenty of decisions and choices to keep you thinking, but fast paced enough to get through a game without spending your whole day on it. (Average, casual games I played with friends lasted about 1-2 hours)

For 10 euro, I would say it's worth it and recommend giving it a go. If you're not convinced, keep an eye on this one for when it goes on sale

A review isn't ethically possible until the game officially launches, but so far I'm having a great time with it. The game shows a lot of promise and is well worth a look. It has all of the ingredients for a potentially outstanding game. My son and I especially like the hotseat option...check out video #3 below to see what I mean. :)
