I enjoyed this game, but have to echo the other reviews - it's extremely hard and unforgiving. I really like it though, nice artwork and full controller support, imaginative gameplay and mechanics. Music is nice too. It's an simple game to get into, but extremely difficult to master. For a low-price, Aussie indie title it's definately worth it.

Very quirky little game. The whole thing is punishment in the form of a cute platformer. Lucky me; I enjoy pain. It's really a mixed bag of vegetables. The atmosphere is all calm and peace. The gameplay on the other hand is painfully unforgiving, forcing you to the edge of your seat at every moment. And DON'T take your time, because your character will get old and die the longer you spend on a stage.

Really good game. It´s a bit short but it´s really cheap so it´s alright. It´s a really hard action platformer. Check out my video on it but it´s a whole run so if you don´t want to spoil it you should prob not watch. It´s worth buying. I can tell you that much.

I have no ♥♥♥♥ing clue what this game is all about, but it sure is fun.

If you like ball-bustingly difficult platformers, then this is for you.

Angvik is quite the annoying little platformer. Other reviewers compare it to Dark Souls because it's so difficult, but it's honestly nothing like Dark Souls at all. It's really just an unforgiving platform game where you have to get through the whole game without dying. Enemies drop items which you can pick up (or your bird friend picks up) and they either A) add 1 HP for you, or b) give you a weapon. If you're fully armed then the bird puts it in it's napsack and rearms you when you lose your items. It's kind of cool, but really frustrating as your first encounters with stuff will probably lead to your death, in which case you go all the way back to start 100% of the time. From what I understand there are no save points in this game at all. I've made it 8-9 screens through the game after 20 minutes. So yeah, kind of neat, it's only $3, but why so freaking hard for no reason other than to be the frustratingly kind of difficult? Instead of the challenging kind of difficult like Dark Souls is. Meh, not really for me but will probably play again if I get bored just to see if I can get any further.

The reason I don't recommend this game isn't because it's a bad game; quite the contrary actually. As Einstein put it once, "The definition of Angvik is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Or something along those lines.

Angvik is an unforgiving action platformer with permadeath. If you die once in the game, you must start from the beginning - No save points what so ever. The main difference between runs is that you can choose your starting gear but that breaks quickly and from there on you are essentially at the mercy of the games drops and your platforming/dodging skills. The levels can become very repetitive and are rather uninspired in terms of both artistic value and level design. This game is certainly challenging like Dark Souls, and some people might find enjoyment in that but for the average person - you may have more frustration than actual fun.

P.S.
Dying in Dark Souls is more of a "Darn, I messed that up", in this game it's more of an "Ugh, I have to redo the first stage for the millionth time"

Hate this game. I bought it because it looked fun and for a little while it was, dying over and over is fine... but you don't even get time to think about what you're doing or plan your next jump etc, because your character ages rapidly and after a few minutes of playing you can "die from getting too old." Most annoying mechanic ever.

Contrary to what some people said it's not a roguelike. its a platformer with no save spots. it's not more fun because of that. its just a bit more annoying. It's like a roguelike but without any of the fun parts, you see the same ♥♥♥♥ every time, the farther you get, the more tedious.

For 2.99$ i can call this game ( Fun )
It was created with Construct 2 ( free software on steam to create games )
But you'd feel better if you get it on sales or a bundle or just cheaper ....because its too damn short

the game's animation and art was done beautifully but get ready for some disappointment because this game ends quite fast
i mean they werent that big of a team to make such game longer, it can be finished in 5 minutes if you know what you're doing.

Basic Game Similar to Volgarr the viking very similar indeed.

Could call it a bit hard but then you get used to it and its really.

So i am confused if i should Vote this down or not because it was just too short, but that price is not much and i didnt even get it at full price on a bundle a time ago so i am guessing for me i will vote it up,

you Choose between a set of "classes" and play, each has different weapon wielding styles thats pretty much it

The game has no story and nothing you just pretty much start playing which is why i said similar To Volgarr.
could have been more effective if they added a few story lines ( quests ) since this games animation and artwork begs for that, and becomes longer with a solid gameplay then it goes to the price of 9.99$ that could be a dream game for me, not really sure if the Devs have any plans for this game or anything so dont ask me.

Don't let the cute graphic fools you.
This is actually Dark Souls in 2D.
It's roguelike and if you die you have to start a new game.

This is basically Ghouls N Ghosts. Which is cool if you like that kind of game, but beating each stage isn't satisfying enough. There's no challenge or concept that draws you in. I don't have to rack my brain to find new and interesting ways to pass the obstacles, nor am I met with any surprise at any point in each level. There are other things wrong, and other things right with the game, but at its core it's just not that fun. That's really all there is to it. If you catch it on sale, sure. Go ahead and grab it for 75 cents. But I can't help but to feel a little cheated having actually paid for a game I could have just as easily found a more fun version of on Newgrounds.

Pure evil genius this one. It is obvious devs have played their ghost'n'goblins games well as the similarity is quite visible. there are even charging spri...er.. birds coming at you. And of course disintegrating armor.

Die repeatedly and die and die and keep trying to reach farther than last time. thats the game idea in this 2D Darksouls of a platforming game.

Some games manage the uber-hard challenge thing, normally by introducing lots of variety in the game to keep things fresh. Angvik doesn't have lots of variety, is quite happy to kill you and send you back to the beginning of the level, and feels slow. Overall, not one that I'd recommend. But maybe I'm missing the point, because I didn't like Dark Souls either.

This game is kind of fun, but it has some aspects that do make it slighltly difficult to enjoy. For gamers with less than average skill levels (like me) who die alot, the lack of save points made it hard to advance and finish the game, although it is short. As I died and restarted at the first level (as i did often) it became quite boring as the exact same levels kept coming and coming. It became quite monotonous and this was a large turn off for me, and I believe this game would be better with randomized levels, with themes just like in the current version. I believe that there should have been items for your chosen class scattered throughout the game. Each class come with it's unique items, and these items (I believe) should dictate how you play through the game, but as weapons break and armour is destroyed, you quickly become a stock, weak and vulnerable man and any of the classes can end up this way irreversibly. If your character could find weapons and armour based on the class you picked around levels and become the powerful fighter he was at the start, it would further encourage you to learn the class and take advantage of it's strengths and weaknesses. The game has a very nice feel with it's platforming action and comical visuals and although there are many good things in the game, here is alot the developers could have improved on.
