I have played through the game and beaten it twice and enjoyed every moment of it. I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking for something fun and simple to play, while still having enough of a challenge to be interesting. I found the characters charming and the interactions to be amusing and while the story wasn't amazing, it wasn't boring either.

Pros:
+Nice selection of party members with different skillsets to appeal to any sort of playstyle.
+Really lovely artwork in the battles
+Character interactions are amusing and charming and you definitely can see some growth in the main characters as the quest progresses
+Multiple difficulty modes with choices on encounter rates to please everyone. Also the Rush selection can be great to quickly get through easier battles. Enough challenge to make battles fun but not so much that one feels a need to grind.
+Lots of optional sidequests and hidden things to find.
+Love the friendship dynamic and how having certain people together in a party for a length of time can grant bonuses in battles and give you preemptive attacks.

Cons:
-A bit on the short side, story is about 20 hours of play
-A couple of broken achievements (though dev has been responsive via email about it)
-Some of the side characters feel tacked on and get little part in the overall story.

Overall, I'd recommend this game to anyone who loves old school styled RPGs and enjoys the RPG Maker style of graphics. Personally, I adore the style of RPG Maker's graphics and do not consider that a fault. The game tells a nice simple story of some fun characters and I had a blast playing it and look forward to playing some more of the dev's other games.

Overview: If youve played every other RPG out there and need more, it has all the trappings of one, however it seriously lacks in both meaninful plot and character development. Although its an OK game, I wouldnt recommend it when there is chrono trigger, secret of mana, dragon quest, earthbound and all the final fantasy games out there instead.

Generic RPGMaker JRPG.

The first impression I had with the game is the writing. The writing is incredibly super juvenile and childish.

The next thing I noticed was that the beginning of the game was extremely too easy - while I understand that you don't want to make the beginning too hard, it completely diminishes the value of the monster variety when you oneshot everything. That said, to its credit, the middle of the game ramps its difficulty up significantly enough as to create a legitimate challenge, with the character skills and standard attacks being well balanced enough as to allow for many meaningful decisions combatwise.

With a complete rewrite of the dialogue, this game might be worthy of being in the $5-10 range. But since that is not the case, I can only recommend going elsewhere to satisfy your JRPG cravings.

Personal Rating: 3 of 10

This game kicks off with an opening scene with 3 glowing insects or some sort of winged pest. Next it presents you with a short cut-scene of an unidentified creature slaughtering a witch and BAM...puts you right into the game with a protagonist named RANDOM. At first I thought maybe I skipped the name creation or the name generator broke or something so I actually GOOGLED this and confirmed that the character's name is indeed RANDOM.

While I greatly appreciate games that slowly unveil the story as you proceed with the game but this vague, lazy and uninteresting tale right at beginning already killed off half my enthusiasm and hope.

The game itself, as you can see from the preview, is classic bit-mapped so don't expect much from the sound effect or tracks. The maps are filled with tonnes of flora, fauna, objects and while these makes the map looks lively, it is rather annoying because 99% of the time it blocks your path so often that literally killed the mouse input feature because the path finding is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Combats are bland because you either easily whipped the enemy or you can die trying and it simply shows static images if your heros and enemy with no animation of any sort (Yeah...shaking the image a little is not animation!). Event when your character is dying or beat up the image still shows the same static picture.

I guess this is a typical RPGMaker product which I now will steer away at all cost!

UPDATE:

I forgot to mention that the creator of this game did built in secret areas for you to explore as to keep exploration fruitful. What I loathe is that since this game is in 2-D, it is hard to determine if the area is passable or not. You practically needs to try to navigate through every corners which is a waste of time.

And not that I have anything with the protagonist named RANDOM but I will appreciate if the game do make a proper introduction to the character to avoid confusion. I am not the only one to actually Googled this.

It's your standard RPG. Writing aint the best but it is pretty solid it stumped me in a dungeon so for that I recommend it I probably wont beat it but hey if you just want another RPG to play go and pick this up.

Oh yeah Main charcter's name if Random... I though it was a joke nope dude's name is RANDOM PENDRAGON!

The intro to this game is so poorly written I couldn't even make myself care about whatever happens after. I can only assume if this is the strongest impression this game is going to make in its first 5 minutes, I don't really need to stick around for the rest.

Verdict: You are sitting down to play a game and invest a portion of the finite time you have on this earth. Do you really want that time to be on this? I mean, come on man. Come on.

Contains tiny spoilers:

An RPG-Maker game that visually looks the business for those seeking a JRPG-Experience for Indie-RPG money, but sadly lacks any great depth when it comes to the story.

While I say this is a 'Negative' review, ultimately this depends on what kind of gamer you are. If the appeal of levelling a character, while walking around some fairly lush and well-thought-out landscapes appeals to you - or indeed the simple mechanics of character levelling - then you'll probably rather enjoy this title.

If, like me however, you prefer a game that hinges on good storytelling and drama, then you'd best look elsewhere - for the plot is about as thin as a pair of aged underpants.

In a nutshell, this game is about an Orc who tries to suck powerful energy from three teenagers (no, really) - but in order to do so must lure them to an alternative dimension where he can directly interact with them. THEN THE PLOT DISAPPEARS FOR 3/4 OF THE GAME while you guide the protagonist through a series of pointless trials in order to go to a well-to-do school in a town called Rillia. A school, that even when you do manage to find it - you only attend a single 'lesson' (Go and obtain some mushrooms a-la any MMORPG you care to mention) - then you get kicked out. THEN SUDDENLY THE PLOT REOCCURS.

It's a shame, as it's at that point where the plot picks up again that the game actually starts to shine - some real JRPG elements creep in, and it feels a lot more solid - and is by far the best portion of the game, though I am not sure how many will stick around to find out.

A game which shows great potential, but falls down on plot - or lack thereof.

Console style RPG. Maybe for kids 7-10 years old. Not my cup of tea.

Being honest, got this game on a bundle and installed it without thinking about it; maybe I've should gifted it to someone else, maybe on steamgifts.com. 3 Stars of Destiny presents a standard design, with a standard premise and a standard plot. Thinking about it, that's this game problem: it's way too generic and predictable.

Overall, the game it's what you'll expect from it (keeping in mind what's been said before): decent console graphics, juvenile and pseudo-fantastic plot, basic dialog, random encounters and so on. Didn't recommend it since I think that there are quite a bunch of better similar games available.

Another RPG maker brand of game. Very similar to the likes of Aveyond which I finished a couple of months ago in that it is a party based RPG. There was nothing really special about this game. All very samey throughout.

I did find myself getting bored towards the middle of the game. You obviously need to spend a lot of time grinding levels in order to equip certain items you find in the game in order to progress past a certain boss, and it became quite tedious to grind on random spawn monsters when they rarely occur. This is a setting you select at the start of the game. If you want my advice, choose the option which will get you the most monster encounters, because you will need them

The text based dialog is also quite bad. All of the sentences seem so awkward to read out, and the games tries too hard to be funny when it quite clearly isn't.

You aren't missing out on much if you skip over this game. I will give it credit, it is a good length, a full playthrough took me 10 hours, but I would not recommend it at full price.

I've owned this for quite awhile before it showd up on steam and can safetly say it's a great RPG, combati s fun, there's lots of secrets and optional bosses to find, and the maps are surprisingly pretty. hopefully the rest of the series shows up on steam eventually.

Only 2 hours in, and I'm in love. The characters really shine when in combat, as well as out side. Beginning game is a bit slow, but the amount of fun I've had is unmatched. 3 Stars of Destiny is worth it's small price tag right now, but it is also worth the 15 normally. Witty dialouge and fun combat with an interactable world, make this one of the funnest (I don't care if it's a word or not) RPG's I've played in a while!

This game isn't worth a single penny, there are better rpgmaker games you can get for no cost. Even though I got this game for free, I still didn't think it was worth playing.

The art is mediocre, the writing is disasterous, the enemy design and the environments look ugly, the music is repetitive and generic, and the characters are unlikable. And the main character's name is Random. Yea, that's his name...Random.

Go buy something else for $15.

My remarks are based on the non-Steam version of this game.

As a long time fan of the old school rpgs, I am very happy to see games from this developer arriving here at Steam. These are among the very best of this style, and this particular offering is no exception. It is outstanding and exceptional.

The story in these games is fundamentally important, and this one is masterfully done. It is intriguing and very captivating with very good humor as well. It takes only a little time to find yourself absorbed in this nicely detailed fable. Characters have good depth, and the plot development is well done.

Scenes in the game have a great deal of nice color, and there are tons of places ready for exploration. There is a handy and nicely done tutorial for those who might need it. This one will take a little time ---- with all there is to explore, secrets to discover, and quests to complete. And, now, with this next playthrough for me, 50 Steam Achievements! ---- it will be a virtually brand new experience for me.

So, if you are a fan of this type of game and have somehow missed out on the offerings from Aldorlea, do yourself a favor and try this one (or, really, any of the Aldorlea games now at Steam). You will not be disappointed.

I love having mouse control, which is quite rare in RPG Maker games. The characters are both entertaining and witty. And the secret rooms are a great bonus. I DEFINITELY recommend this game!

It has horrible pacing, an unlikable main character and very low quality assets.
