What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“An Early Access Beta Pack is your chance to experience and have an impact on Deadbreed® as it progress through the final stages of development. Be aware that, while our Early Access offer is already a great representation of the game, it’s still work in progress and therefore contains bugs, unfinished features and some unpolished content.

New features and improvements will be added regularly. We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you understand what Early Access means and are ready to accept possible interruptions or flaws in your gaming experience. It makes most sense to play an Early Access game if, for instance, you want to support the development of the game, influence the development with your feedback or just want to get a taste of things.

The game will be available in several languages, but the Early Access version will only be in English.

Player feedback is very important to us, so we'd love to hear from you. Let us know what you think could be improved, what bugs you encounter and what we did right so far. The more you tell us, the better we can make the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our current target is to complete the Beta phase by the end of the February at the latest.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access closed Beta is already a great representation of the game, however it’s still work in progress and therefore contains bugs which will gradually be fixed as we move through the Beta stages. In addition to this we also plan to add a couple of features and maps plus a set of Heroes, Artifacts, Totems and Sentinels to the full version of the game. We are also targeting several additional language versions of the game for the full version.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We are at the initial stages of the Beta phase.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. However, there will be a "free-to-play" full version of the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We've already gotten great feedback from the Steam Community in our Greenlight campaign and we hope this will evolve now that players get a chance to participate hands-on and help us improve the game by letting us know about any bugs encountered and hopefully providing constructive feedback and suggestions.”

Important Update available to all now!

Cusp the Faun has been torn from the bone fields outside the grand grove to fight for you with this update that also features a HUGE change to the core game play (faster, more responsive game play and action indications, balancing and player feedback) to mention a couple of important things.

Login now and play!

Gameplay
  • Made the Core Game play more responsive (modifications we’ve made are too many to list, however you’ll notice the damage indicators, easier to pick targets, faster to move your hero, better attack responsiveness and overall better responsiveness to many hero abilities in general including Domini’s Terraslam and Brood’s Stomp ).

  • Separated the in-game Item Armory into four categories; Attack, Defense, Power and Movement meaning its now easier to navigate the shop. Also added a “sort by name”, (alphabetical) sorting filter.

  • Added the “Block Chance” mechanic and statistic. Block Chance provides a % the incoming attack will miss.

  • Added four base (free) Shields (an item chain) to the Armory with the Block Chance stat (Block Shield, Bulk Shield, Bastion Shield and Quantum Shield).

  • Cusp the Faun is available now! Here is a short description of his ability set.

    Ambrosia
Activate to create a pool of Ambrosia (over 2 seconds) that lasts for 10 (+2 per Ability Level Up) seconds. If you or an Allied Hero moves within range of the pool, it'll be drained and regenerate 100 (+25 per Ability Level Up + 50% bonus from equipped Power Items) plus 10 (+2 per Ability Level Up) bonus PER Nectar Resource Orb you hold.

    Debase
You create a magical link between yourself and all Enemies within 6 (+0,2 per Ability Level Up) units that lasts for 5 (+1 per Ability Level Up) seconds. While the link is active, you reduce the targets to 100% (-5% per Ability Level Up) of their base Armor and Power Damage resistance values.

    Hex Orb
While active, Spirit resource Orbs you collect are converted to Hex Orbs that circle around you (up to max of 2 (+2 per Ability Level Up) Orbs)). Re-activate the ability to explode the Orbs and deal 50 (+10 per Ability Level Up) Power Damage +(50% bonus from equipped Power Items) PER Orb to all Enemies in 4 +(0,2 per Ability Level Up) Range.

    Bulwark
You form a Bulwark around yourself or an Allied Hero within 4 + (0,2 per Ability Level Up) Range. In this form, target gains 30% (+5% per Ability Level Up) Block Chance and inflicts 35% (+10% per Ability Level Up) Move Speed Deduction to Enemies within Range. The Bulwark lasts for 1 (+0,25 per Ability Level Up) seconds PER Nectar Resource you hold. The duration is doubled during Daytime.

  • Did a balancing pass on ALL hero base stats, abilities in general and ability cooldowns and Mana costs.

  • Did a balancing pass on ALL hero base stats, abilities in general and ability cooldowns and Mana costs in particular.

  • Fixed an issue with the weekly key reward sequence displaying invalid number of keys.

  • Updated the Copper Coin rewards for Meta game play awards.

  • Updated the Loot Drop Tables (in-game chest and barrel drops).

  • Updated the Daily Quests (including the requirement on many of them to be carried out in PvP mode).

  • Added the Furiosa Cinder, Dhalia Cinder, Imp Cusp and Salamander Anuran skins.

The hero customization factor is a major strategic and tactical game play element as you’ll figure out what equipment and play style/s work best for each of your heroes – should you play her/him as a melee warrior, ranged archer or perhaps a wizard, or are you skillful enough to adapt your hero build during the matches to counter what the enemy team is building?

Game Description

A Dark Breed of Heroes

Deadbreed® features a new, dark breed of Heroes. Choose from three distinct types of breed, depending on your personal taste in look and style of play, may it be Nightbreed, Halfbreed or Daybreed. There are just too many unique aspects that differentiate the breeds to list here, but keep in mind that the sight range of Night- and Daybreed varies with the day cycles and that some items can be limited to a specific breed.

Customization, Armory and Artifacts

Deadbreed® features a player centric customization feature, meaning the player has greater influence over his Hero’s look and capabilities. The items you equip not only shape the way the hero looks while playing, they dictate the way he/she moves and attacks to.

Equipping a sword and a shield will make your hero a melee fighter with the sword’s range, while re-equipping the same hero as an archer changes your range and attack to bow and arrow. This opens up totally new ways to explore custom items builds best suited for that particular hero’s abilities, opponents and game scenarios.

In addition to the possibility to adapt and remodel your favorite hero’s equipment choosing from a vast base armory, Deadbreed® features Artifacts. Artifacts are built during games like “normal” items, however they are unique meaning there can only be one in play at any given time during a game, adding an additional layer of strategy and tactical planning to hero item builds. In addition to this, Artifacts level up with games, unlocking relic slots that open up further customization opportunities for you to tune specific items for your favorite heroes. For fans of RPGs, the concept of “socketing” items should feel very familiar and for MOBA fans, you could really simplify this by saying we have moved the “runes” stats modifications associated with the player to individual items instead, and added unique effects on top to make these items really stand out in gameplay.

The Sentinels

The Sentinels are ancient guardians of the Deadbreed® bloodlines – arbitrators of the infernal battlegrounds where dead breed strive to break their undead bonds and lay to final rest. These immortal deities have been charged solely with construction of and ruling over the battlegrounds of death and decay as a punishment for their doings in the real world, but behind the façades, they vie for power while swaying the dead breeds to their philosophy – an eternal conflict among themselves for the right to lead an uprise from this hell and reclaim their rightful place in the cosmos.

As you progress in the game, you’ll uncover the cabal of the Sentinels and learn more about their individual weaknesses and strengths and how they fit your heroes and play style. You prove your Zeal for a Sentinel by choosing it as your Guardian in a match. Then the outcome of that game will modify your Standing with that particular Sentinel, affecting its strengths, abilities and enhancements in coming games making it a more formidable last boss for the enemy team to conquer in order to win (and the other way around). As your Zeal increases, you’ll open up further paths of the cabal and gain access to older and more powerful Sentinels to devote to. Will you stay loyal to a specific breed lineage or even a single Sentinel? There are strategic decisions to be made and rewards to be claimed on a daily basis as your loyalty to the Sentinels are put to the test.

Maps, Dungeons and PvE Features

The Early Access kicks off with The Graveyard. At its core, the Graveyard is a 3vs3 two-lane map with a Citadel at each end protected by monoliths. The overall goal of the map is to break the crux on the gates to gain access to the Citadel and defeat the enemy team’s Sentinel.

The Graveyard also features a Troll Cave where you can summon a Troll to fight for your side, two smaller dungeons on each team’ s side of the map and an entrance to a larger Dungeon placed dead center of the map. The concept of Dungeons is familiar to all hack’n slash fans – and our game has plenty of monsters and loot, however the big difference being that our Dungeons are much, much smaller in size and offer no way out than the way you went in, leaving you vulnerable to the enemy team. So, dungeons are our “mini-adventure” version of other MOBA’s monster nests.

Ranked Mode

Ranked mode allows you to test your skills against opponents of comparable skill and earn special ranks to reflect your skill. Winning and losing matches can gain or lose rank, and special rewards, like custom Insignia, gravestones etc. Each player's rank is reflected in their Gravestone and plaque. There are currently 5 divisions ranging from Bronze up to Diamond, with each division split in 5 series.

Early Access Review
In simple words:

·HUGE Potential!
·Long way far from finished. (The Devs say it will soon be at a 'Release State' but I believe otherwise - Maybe CBT at best)
·Unique features (such as: your character's appearance change with the equipment you buy, change your role according to the equipment you are wearing - even at the middle of a match, buy equipment with unique skills each, gameplay changes according to your Sentinel (Guardian - Final Boss) which you and your team votes for, GREAT visual effects and much more, It is not your typical MOBA) plus Dark freakin' atmosphere, which make this my best MOBA by far.
·BUT the game needs more Devs and a LOT more Players. (maybe merge the f***ing servers till we actually get a big player base going)

I play it off and on when there is an update...there is one every 5 months or so...... 10/10

This game needs more players! This game would be a lot of fun if I could get in a game! The only things I can say about this game is from playing against a bot when I first started. But that was enough to tell that this game has huge potential, and is truly unique. It is a MOBA with mini-dungeons, RPG elements, and a final boss that you must beat to win the game. This game could make it to the "Most Popular" section in the free-to-play category, I know it can. The one thing that it is lacking is players. With more advertising, and more people reviewing, this game would be great. So, download this game, tell your friends about it, and hopefully, we can get more people playing this game.

Early Access Review
Very unique with some cool ideas, but way too many items, upgrades and such are unlocked outside of the game that give direct advantages in gameplay.

Tutorial was awfull, i accidently skipped some of it by looking at the different heroes before unlocking 1. In my first bot game it explained that i need to kill the bad guys level up and buy items. Did not tell me about dungeons, how to use the little orb things, artifacts or totems.

As far as i can tell u can't see heroes abilities before playing with them, meaning your just buying a random set of abilites blindly. probably a tactic to make u waste your "keys".

I would have played more but the game didn't want to show me how 3/10

It's a great game!!!
Totaly love it!
I've been playing league of legends for a very long time and kinda
got bored of it. So decided to try out this one.
A great MOBA. Very unique with its playstyle, dungeons, and i absolutely love the item costumization.
I would suggest every MOBA fan to try it out.
despite the fact that at the moment there are a very few players and its not that popular... overal its a very good game.

9/10 (need some bugs to be fixed)

Only problem with this game is that no one plays it. No one plays it because no one plays it. MOBA is the most ridiculous genre to try to put a game into without a reputation backing it. LoL and DotA 2 cast grand shadows, with Blizzard's decades-long success bolstering HotS playerbase, you have to be suicidal to even try. It really is a shame, Deadbreed was something that I looked forward to over a year before beta was open, and when I finally got to play it, I was heavily impressed with the unique features offered.

Dungeons, paperdoll equipment, FUNCTIONAL equipment, the only thing I really have to gripe about with this game is the choice in information presentation.

The hardest part of a moba for me is learning items and their usefulness, especially since most mobas include dozens of them. Equipment is difficult to read, descriptions are muddied, and everything is monotone.
