Unofficial Torchlight Predecessor [KAMGUSTA's REVIEW]

This is the first standalone expansion (the others are The Traitor Soul and The Cursed King) for the game Fate, released in 2005. This is a diablo-like action RPG with all the frills: random generated levels, lot of quests, different weapons, spells and so on.

While the gameplay is pretty solid, there are some problems: music is below average, levels are re-generated if you leave them, you are overwhelmed with junky items, inventory management is quite messy, it gets repetitive, experience points can't be reused forcing you to never change the skill path you choose at the beginning of the game.

I recommend buying Torchlight instead: it is the unofficial FATE 2 (the game director left the FATE team to build it): more polished, less buggy, better gameplay, more fun. :-)

I remember playing this quite a while ago. Great game though, I'd reccomend picking it up on sale (maybe full price if you really want it).

I absoulutely loved the original, and I love this one too. I didn't seem to find a multiplayer which is kind of saddening, as this is a great game and would love to play it with friends. It didn't seem like a whole lot changed, aside from location and enemy variety. If you liked the original, you're going to more than likely enjoy it, and if you've never played Fate or a Dungeon Crawler, this is a good, decently priced game to start with. I can't think of many negatives, excpet in certain areas, it wouldn't light up, or like a glitched area appeared on my screen, unable to let me see anything. But that was only one area, so I won't knock the score down too much.

I've been a fan of the FATE franchise ever since the first game came out. I was really exicted that they released this epic game to Steam. If you love Torchlight then this is definitely worth a shot. Think of this franchise as the father of Torchlight.

I really do hope the other two sequels will be coming on here soon!!!

Thanks Annah for gifting me this awesome game!!!

This is a spectacular dungeon crawler rpg with nearly endless amounts of weaponry, loot fests, quests, and hours of fun to be had with the added bonus of replay value. All in all, a great deal.

After several hours of gameplay I realized I wouldn't be anywhere without Axehammer's Mighty Elven Amulet of Vitality, or Beastdal's Superior Piercing Gemmed Belt of Wealth, and don't even get me started on Khelamroth's Flaming Icy Solid Elite Bone Sabre of Quickness. Man this is an awesome game, am I right?

I was a late bloomer to playing the Fate series. At the point that I discovered it, I had already played Torchlight and that is the best way to summarize my feelings of this game.

FATE was the precursor to Torchlight. Even down to the very concept of fishing for items and to change the characteristics of your journeying sidekick pet. The game is fun. Torchlight did well to follow (and expand upon) the guidlines the FATE series created.

If you want some good ol' nostalgia dungeon-crawly goodness, you'll enjoy the game. Despite playing and beating BOTH Torchlight games, I still find FATE very enjoyable.

I love this game, I used to play it a lot in 2009, and once I started playing it again, I came down with a case of acute nostalgia! It's a little slow at first, but once you get into it, this game promises hours of fun.

I always loved playing FATE. i played all of them. FATE, FATE Undiscovered Realms, FATE Traitor Soul and FATE Cursed King.

I do recommend this game and i also recommend FATE. Also try out Torchlight and Torchlight 2 witch are both from the same

producers as the FATE games.

But i know lots of people have had trouble with the FATE games.

I found a thread that helped me alot. I wasnt able to play theses games before i found that help guide. An error popped up

every time i tried to launch any of the FATE games. It said : Application error the game will now exit. I think this only

happens to people who use a NVIDIA video card.

Also the same error popped up when i lauched the game from the wildtangent games app, so if you use wildtangent games

you should do the same thing for your games on wildtangent games.

I will try adding a link to the page that shows how to fix this error.

I really liked the original FATE and this is looking to be pretty good too. Plays about the same as the original. There's some tweaks here and there. I definitely recommend this. Especially if you played the original.

This is the perfect game for anyone who likes dungeon crawlers and rpgs. with tousands of name and stat combos, you may never get the same weapon twice, socket your weapons and armour to put magical gems in them that can boost your health and mana, add elemantal damage to weapons, and boost your skills. just remember, there are eyes in the dark, and you are not welcome in this place...

Cutesy Diablo clone, the predecessor of the Torchlight series. While you're probably better off with Torchlight (2), this is worth a go.

9/10 Dungeon Delver. I remember playing the original FATE as a child, so I thought I'd rev up the nostalgia train by getting the sequel to the game. The game is simple and addicting. The game has a classic RPG feel to it that reminds me of D&D, but with a single-player twist. A must for any gamer who enjoys a straightforward, dungeon delving, RPG.
