Not recommended at this time for the following reasons.
1. bugs include monsters deciding they are pets. They follow you around, you can not attack them. They will swarm your enemies.
2. Manual is very incomplete. If you have played FATE then you know about your stash and the Enchanter. They manual does NOT tell you where to find these items and they are "hidden" inside two of the realms. If you didn't know about them you can spend a LOT of time selling stuff you should keep and dying a lot since your stuff is not upgraded.

Wild Tangent does not answer directly any of these problems or bugs.

Wild Tangent DID post a FIX for the graphics issue that crashed the game so don't bother telling eveyone it doesn't work.

STEAM defers everyting to Wild Tangent and won't answer how to get into the online backup of your saved games.
This means even uninstalling and reinstalling will not get rid of the extra pets.

Under Windows 10 this is a ridiculous, buggy disaster.

It took some doing to get the game to run at all, though there's information in the Discussions that can help you. Essentially, the game doesn't create its own (long, complex) configuration file, so you have to do it manually or the game will crash before it even gets started.

Once in game things seem to work basically correctly. Gameplay is similar to Diablo or Torchlight (very much like Torchlight, complete with the "feed your pet fish to change it" mechanic). You're in an isometric-view dungeon, various NPCs give you quests to destroy this or kill that, and you go do it. Disconcertingly, your character appears to be about 10 years old, and there's no character class -- all you choose at the start is name, gender, appearance, and whether you have a dog or a cat. There's enough randomness that the difficulty curve is questionable, but it's a serviceable game of its type.

Just ... don't try to run it in fullscreen, don't try to open the minimap ... and there's apparently a host of other gamebreaking bugs that I didn't personally encounter listed in the Discussions.

It's unlikely the publisher is ever going to come back and fix this mess with a patch for Win10 compatibility, so I'd recommend just sticking with Torchlight. It's essentially the same game with better graphics.

Surprisingly fun dungeon crawler. Its cool having swarms of dragons or spider following you through dark dungeons mauling everything that comes near you.

This is an old childhood game of mine. I have always loved it and still do! Who wouldn't want to transform their pet into a giant spider, a gryphon or a venomous wyvern? Or summon venomous wyverns of your own? Mystical swords floating around you guarding you? Casting a meteor spell upon your enemies? Equipping a giant scythe or crossbow, games like these have so many wonderful options.

I wish there was a remake of this game. It looked so different and fun when I was a child. Now as an adult it's mere nostalgia, but I can still enjoy the game, just not as much as I did years ago. The Torchlight series (at least II) feels different in a lot of ways, too different for comfort. That's why I'd prefer a remake.

This game is a weaker version of Torchlight II, Diablo 3 and Van Helsing. This game feels like it was unfinished and chucked out at the last moment due to budget constraints. You can see many similarities to Torchlight such as the animal companion. Enter the dungeon, go down the levels, collect quests that specify which level the random boss is on, kill boss, collect loot and turn in quest. Rinse and repeat. It's that simple. It's lame.

PROS
1. Simple to learn
It's like any other isometric RPG.

2. Summon Spells
The timber wolves and beetles looked good. They were also pretty interesting.

CONS
1. 1 Spell at a Time
That's right. Spells are divided into Attack, Defense and Charm types and you can only use 1 at any moment. You can switch spells but it's really dumb.

2. Lousy Graphics
It's really bad.

3. Dead NPCs
They just stand there like lamp posts fulfilling roles like a vending machine.

4. Lame Storyline
Book of Fate? That's it?

5. Permanently Deletable Spells
CTRL click to lose a spell permanently. You have a limited number of slots to learn spells in.

6. Obnoxious Amounts of Gold To Learn Spells
If you don't have the gems to sell, you're pretty much unable to buy spells

7. Only 2 Major Zones
Typhon, the ice land and the other one, Druantia.

9/10 Dungeon Delver. I remember playing the original FATE as a child, so I thought I'd rev up the nostalgia train by getting the sequel to the game. The game is simple and addicting. The game has a classic RPG feel to it that reminds me of D&D, but with a single-player twist. A must for any gamer who enjoys a straightforward, dungeon delving, RPG.

The amount of content is awesome. The randomness of weapons and monsters is what draws people into it. You never know what the merchants will have next. Transforming your pet, fishing 24/7, quests, skill depth, and the anticipation of finding that one item that you can sell for huge amounts of gold is what keeps me going. Would love to see more and more games in this series!

This is a spectacular dungeon crawler rpg with nearly endless amounts of weaponry, loot fests, quests, and hours of fun to be had with the added bonus of replay value. All in all, a great deal.

After several hours of gameplay I realized I wouldn't be anywhere without Axehammer's Mighty Elven Amulet of Vitality, or Beastdal's Superior Piercing Gemmed Belt of Wealth, and don't even get me started on Khelamroth's Flaming Icy Solid Elite Bone Sabre of Quickness. Man this is an awesome game, am I right?
