I'll discuss the positives and negatives for this game separately.

POSITIVE:

If you're a fan of Warhammer 40k like I am, this game is for you. Even though it's not technically cutting edge by any stretch, it's saturated in the war-worn, painted metal grime and blood one would expect from W40k media. The voice acting is appropriate and convincing, with your superior giving constant instructions and feedback via radio and Orks screaming in a thick, nasty British accent as they charge. The sound is pretty satisfying, especially the explosions--and there are a lot of explosions. The orchestral soundtrack is very fitting and in the few moments of pause between walls of sound (screaming, gunfire, explosions), I enjoyed it scaling up and down with the tension.

Graphically it's nothing wonderful, lots of objects clipping through each other and relatively low-poly models like one might expect of a mid-quality console game ported to PC. That being said, this never once bothered me. One thing I REALLY appreciated is the lighting. Since the entirety of the game takes place on an Ork ship with average to low level lighting, gun muzzle flashes are prominent, and for some reason I found it particularly wonderful to be bathed in bright bursts while in a dark room.

The game is fun, and when it works, it WORKS. It does a magnificent job of making you feel like a badass. However....

NEGATIVE:

...When it doesn't work, it really seriously doesn't work. The game is obviously made for group multiplayer (up to four at once), and the classes you're given cover a particular concentration--focused fire, melee, etc. So if you're playing alone, you're going to experience some moments where you coast along without challenge, and some moments where you'll have to just try over and over until, by accident, you succeed. It can be really damn frustrating. For example, I played the entire game as a focused-fire class, and in one particular section I was on a lift shooting mines from far away. The challenge was trivial and almost boring because it was exactly my class' calling. But there are some set pieces where you're bombarded with one group of enemies after another, and it was the OPPOSITE of my class specialty. Some of these parts I had to play ten times, and the success was based on chance.

So in single player, the difficulty can range from trivial to unfairly scream-worthy. I'd guess with multiplayer it would be a lot of fun because your team would be more all-purpose, so I highly suggest playing only if you have friends.

Also, if you're not a big fan of Warhammer 40k, there's probably little this game would offer you since it does nothing to explain protagonists, antagonists, or setting whatsoever. It seriously just drops you in and lets you go.

This is neither positive or negative, but the game is awfully short. I've clocked three hours' play time and beat all five missions (each of which is about 20-40 minutes long). I say it isn't necessarily bad because there's much replay value here, especially with friends, and in that context sometimes it's nicer to play a shorter game you can finish in one sitting. You're given a level score, can obtain numerous upgrades and collectibles, and play through each level as one of the four classes, for a total of four different jaunts through each mission, so as a completionist you're looking at closer to 12 hours. Plus as a multiplayer game it probably rocks. Not too bad, considering this game is only $10, usually far less during sales.

Overall I'd recommend this game, especially to die-hard fans of Warhammer 40k. Just be prepared to have a less-than-perfect experience. But when this game works...damn does it work.

Honestly this feels more like a third person shooter than a thumbstick shooter. I can see why people dislike the camera but personally found it not to be that bad, it attempts to make the fight more cinematic and sometimes it is a pain but I never found myself raging because of it. If you play this alone it can be pretty challenging too as you have a health bar and have to find health and running through attempting to gun and melee gets you killed pretty fast. Honestly if you love Warhammer 40k then buy this, its worth it. I got mine on sale for 50% off but I didnt know it existed until I saw the sale for it.

I was quite excited for this game, but must admit I am disappointed. From odd green pixels that cover large portions of the screen during cut scenes and the intros, to the camera staying in odd positions that can make you get lost and trapped even in early levels, this game has been one major disappointment.

I love the Warhammer 40K universe, and I feel this game has let me down.

THE DOWNLOW:
In the future there is only war... as the WH:40K mantra goes. And so comes WH40K: Kill Team, a simple story-driven twin-stick shooter set in the Warhammer 40K Universe. It possesses some good gun-toting action, character customization providing different skills and weapons. Thus allowing for different playthrough styles.

THE GOOD:
+ Its set in the Warhammer 40K universe. Great if you're a fan.
+ Good graphics. Very pleasing on the eye for a twin-stick shooter.
+ Good varied and well rendered environments for a port. Gives it a good feeling of immersion.
+ Warrior customization. Good number of WH40K space marine types. Together with good range of weapons provides some variation in playing style.
+ You get to kill Orks with some solid gun-toting gameplay.

THE BAD:
- Its an iOS port.
- Short campaign of 5 missions taking about 10 hours to get (all) achievements.
- Mission length is also pretty short.
- No manual save. Just annoying save checkpoints.
- Fixed camera makes controlling your warrior terrible in some fights.
- Bugged camera sometimes giving weird angles. Only resolved on restarting a mission.
- Requires an xbox controller or emulator for one achievement (local coop).
- Very little longevity. Achievements force at least two playthroughs.

AND THE ORDINARY:
* RPG-lite perk assignment as you level. Gives the choice of up two perks that grow in power.
* Various time-limited power-ups allows for additional tactical actions.
* Fiddly controls.
* Swarm A.I. but at least it presents a decent challenge.
* Some replayability by selecting different characters.
* Only local coop available. Need controller.

VERDICT:
Overall WH40K: Kill Team is an average twin-stick experience unless you are a fan of Warhammer 40K, at least in single-player. It probably plays slightly better with a friend. On the whole gameplay is quite fun though it has some frustrating moments, most notably with bad camera angles. There are better games of its type out there.

I can really only recommend if you are fan of the Warhammer franchise, like short games, easy achievements or are heavily into twin-stick shooters. Its too short to buy at full price. If you dont mind waiting for this, get it only at extreme discount.

Badass; similar to space marine's exterminus mode (for a much smaller price tag), and a good alternative considering very few people play space marine online. Some people claim that the camera is horrible. These are people I claim have never played Resident Evil. Or else Mario 64... I had absolutly no problems with the camera view; you just have to understand that if you move one step forward and camera changes to zoom in just move one step back for it to zoom out again.

The melee classes seemed a bit underpowered at first compared to the ranged; but once you get powerups to equip they become quite powerful. Keyboard and mouse work out quite well, controller is fine to use too. There is a small circle for aiming instead of a crosshair. There isn't too much replayability factor; You are allowed to complete each of the 6 or so mission levels with all 4 classes and it records your time completion for each. Besides that there are a few survival maps that time how long you can survive increasing swarms of enemies and it compares your score to a global ranking for each map.

This is not an amazing game; but it does hold its own. It has a good price tag. Four enjoyable classes; with their own special attack.

I have yet to be furtunate to play the local co-op; though I have completed this game on solo quite easily enough. Yes there may have been some difficulty at times.Fortunatly when you die it is a quick respawn generally not much of a kick back to reshoot. i had a blast playing through this game. Once you get some good equipable enhancements such as + to melee damage % or enhancement for longer powerup duration the melee classes become quite poweful.

Expect about 12 hours to complete the whole game. This is a nice short game to load into very fast and play for about 20-30 minutes for the first few mission levels; litle longer for the later missions. Or about 5 or so minutes for the Survival maps before you get overwhelmed.

Good:
+Character and level design are faithful to the brand

Bad:
-Camera
-Length of levels
-Sound
-Port

-Port: There are obvious glitches, such as the painfully obvious green square-thing that happens before the game even starts, that show a fundamental lack of care.

-Sound: the weapons and warcries are mostly uninteresting or so repetitive as to be annoying. The music is monotonous space-opera-y without flair. One boss in particular is featured in several unskippable cutscenes where all he does is cackle and yell in the most annoying way possible.

-Length of levels: Dull sequences designed for two players are drawn out without offering an easy way to just quit and come back later. There are checkpoints, but they force you to watch unskippable cutscenes if you die.

-Camera: You have no control over it. This isn't always a bad thing, but the developers seem to enjoy cinematic positions that will ruin your ability to see anything. Or, the camera just keeps getting stuck really easily. Either way it sucks.

+Characters and level design are faithful to the brand: it's 40k so duh.

Buy if you want a really stupid game with W40k slapped all over it.

I wanted to like this... the game format is pretty typical Warhammer 40K action-- take a good formula, slap the epic Warhammer theme all over it and cash in. I was pretty excited to get this on sale.

Immediately opening it, maybe it's just my machine, but the video was full of artifacts. There was clearly very little effort in porting this to PC from Xbox 360/PS3. Instructions are primarily for Xbox controller. I rolled my eyes a bit... I got this on sale, so not too offended.

Character selection screen: awesome. Level design: cool! Colorful, Warhammer-style conflict. This kind of game could've hooked me on for a really long time... in fact, I was hoping it would. Instead, weird-♥♥♥ camera angles make the game just about unplayable. Had to die a couple times just to get the camera in a sane location. The final nail in the coffin-- Crashes prevented me from beating the first stage.

Too bad. I was really excited.

The positive reviews for this game come from players which WANT to enjoy the game so much they're willing to look past the buggy, flat gameplay.

I purchased this game for some light co-op LAN timekilling without checking reviews. The game crashed 4 times before we gave up. First crash was after the opening splash screens. The second on character select, and finally twice on starting to play.

I manage to get it working today. (Didn't change anything, just launched the game again in Single Player mode.) I played for 14 minutes before uninstalling.

The gunplay and melee combat is boring (1 attack animation per weapon/character) and the hit registration was poor. I also encountered an issue with the camera zooming outside the game map resulting in a close up of a wall. The rest of the game mechanics are equally bad, but I didn't really plan on writing a rant. Just a warning.

Please don't support Games Workshop peddling this garbage.

Get this if:

-You liked Dawn of war / 40k setting

-Like playing co op with a friend and shooting everything

- Enjoy top down shooters

Do get it if:

-You want to change camera angle

-Do not like that it is an obvious console port

-you want a game that lasts longer than a couple hours.

The game is short and simple. Play with a friend for a few hours fun.

Guessing this was a bad mobile port? Graphics were subpar, the gameplay boring, and the 3rd person camera angles were often so attrocious that you couldn't even see where your character was going on the screen. It was so bad that I uninstalled it after about 20 minutes. Avoid at all costs.

This is an arcade twin stick shooter basically, although I couldn't play it with my joypad (not an Xbox gamepad). You can as well play it with keyboard and mouse.

You pick one of four space marine specialities - melee, ranged, librarian and techmarine. There are only two differences between those classes - special attack and one weapon that you can change when unlocked.

The plot is pointless, basically a one man killing machine destroys an orc space ship and kills thousands of orcs and tyrranids. I've finished it with a Techmarine in under three hours.

Pros:
- Warhammer 40k aesthetics
- you can play it in co-op
- you can unlock bonuses and additional weapons

Cons:
- camerawork
- some levels are absurd in design - e.g. you are in a central hub and need to go back and forth to every one of four nodes
- it gets monotonous really fast
- weapons feel as if they were not that powerful - it takes about 3-4 shots from bolter gun to kill a standard orc. Or maybe those enemies are that tough?
- you can have only one powerup at a time
- powerups last too short
- classes are not well balanced - I think that ranged class is the most powerful because you can deal heavy damage from distance while avoiding taking hits when engaging in melee
- special skills are dull - techmarine creates an automated shooting tower, melee class is charging on enemies ending the charge with explosion, ranged class has speed up to rate of fire (most useful imo) and librarian is creating a sucking vortex around himself that explodes after about 2 seconds

Overall I feel that this may have been a good game but it lacks polish. Levels are too long, shooting orcs and tyrannids gets boring after about an hour. Maybe it is more fun in co-op, but I haven't played it this way. You can play it for a dollar or two, but I would not invest more money into this title. Space Marine game is a better shooter/slasher set in the Warhammer 40k world.

The game kinda tough by ya self but least there is check points if you die.
I'd recommend it on sale.

This game is fun, for the 10 minutes that I can play it. Then it crashes.

Yes I am salty. Those 10 minutes of co-op were awesome. Crashed out 5 times in 1 hour. So have to give a negative review I'm afraid.

I suggest you wait for a sale, buy it, and set a 90 min timer. If you crash out or have any issues refund before the 2 hour limit.

Gutted to be honest. Could have been a fun gaming experience ended up a ball ache.

Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team is an isometric shoot 'em up in classic arcade style. As the name implies, it's set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. You (and a friend) play as a Space Marine, one of the indominitable and terrifying super-human warriors of the Imperium of Man. You attack a large crude space-faring vessel full of Orks in a bid to destroy it from the inside out before it can make it to human-occupied space.

I played this game a few years back on X-Box 360 with my brother, so I'm familiar with the controls. Additionally, this is definitely much more fun when you play Two-Player. There is no PvP mode.

In the grim darkness of the future, there is only war -so the game's vocal stabs are just instructions and GRIMDARK reminders that you're a Space Marine. No comedy to be had here, unlike Smash TV one of this game's inspirations. My brother and I entertained ourselves by referencing humorous game fluff and mocking the Ork's accents. I swear, I kept hearing them going after "SPICE MARINES!" so I had to call the Marines "Brother Scary Spice" and "Brother Vengeful Spice".

The warriors have enough variety that you can get replay value from switching up your characters. I stuck mostly with "Sternguard Veteran", which is the heavy weapons guy -strong ranged attacks, weak melee. His special attack is easiest to understand -just more dakka, you don't have to steer him, or herd your enemies into a killbox.

I recommend this game -it's a fun game for the price, and if you are a fan of the Warhammer 40,000, you should have already played it. Upon further reflection, if you're a fan... as Commissar, I order you to play this game!

Do not try. I did. I thought: "It can't be that bad as they say". But it really is.

Pros:
- it is a W40K art
- TPP shooter for 2 players on on PC with power-ups and general 'just shot everything" feel is a very good idea (...but the execution is awful)

Cons:
- on 1280x1024 resolution it supports only 1024x768 or 1280x720, and trust me - you do not want to play mouse-aimed shooter in a window.
- you can't control camera. I can understand that in "2 players on one PC" mode, but you can't do it even if you play it in a 1 player mode.
- camera bugs - it stays out of map and do not follow or turns around and gets stuck in wicked angle. And it is not just occasionally - it is all the time, every 20 seconds you encounter a camera bug. And you can't do anything about it.

A top down, move with WASD aim and shoot with the mouse game.
As long as you grab it on a decent sale its worth breaking up the bigger games for an evening or two.
Game plays not to hard as long as you use common sense and I didn't see any of the glitches mentioned in other reviews [my guess, they fixed them].
You get a choose of a few classes to play through the same story either solo or co-op earning perks and weapons to customize your play through. Simple bit of fun, even if like me your not really a Warhammer fan.

I played this game a while ago.
Honestly, I loved it. I experienced no gliches or bugs of any kind.
Levels were hard and challenging, but were fun to play.

Story was cool: There's an Ork ship heading towards an Imperial Forge World. You, as a Space Marine, force yourself into the ship, and must travel along the ship to find and kill the Warboss, and to destroy the ship before it hits the planet.
But on you're way, you encounter Tyranids, that the Orks have used to fight and entertain themselves with while they were travelling to a bigger fight.

I recommend getting this game. I love it, sure there are "better" 40k games out there, but honestly, this game is quite cool.

I love my Warhammer 40k games.
But this? No.
Bad port all the way. And it doesn't even support widescreen.
Co-op is broken in all senses. Can't even plug in a second controller.
They both move the first character. Even if one is using a keyboard.

It even tells me what button to press.. On an Xbox pad, when I'm using a keyboard, and mouse.
Really-really, isn't worth it.

Gauntlet meets Warhammer 40k. As long as you go into this game expecting not much all of your expectations will be met. The forced camera angles will give you a headache; the poor transitioning from console to PC will grind your gears; and the story is laughably... well the story is more of a narration, which is to say a disembodied voice will tell you to go "here", or go "there", and destroy "thing". $9.99 is a bit much of an asking price imo. This is more suited for $4.99, and below, venues.

Dont' spend more then $5, this is a one night stand of a videogame.

It's fun damnit, there are a few instances of bad camera angles, but nothing compared to my early experiences with resident evil years ago, I swear people forget what REAL bad camera angels look like. If that game started on steam Resident Evil two would have never been released.

To enjoy this game tou will need:

1. A freind or family member (they don't need to know anything about Warhammer, I used my wife:)

2. To calm the ♥♥♥♥ down! The game can get intense but it's a good intense. It can be enjoyed with some laughter and an acceptance that achivements* (such a B.S.. creation), and max score mean nothing. There are 10 year olds in Japan right now that trippled whatever you'll get anyways.

3. Alchohol, you can even make it a drinking game for whenever you hear "Brother!" or "WAAAAGGGGHHH!!!"

4. An appreciation for arcade classics. This is a shootem' up game, that's it. Boom boom, bang mutha flippin bang! It's back story is a 20 second cut sceen, but that's all it needs for what it is."

8/10 My wife actually loved it and wished it was longer.

These are my first impressions of the game. I have a video for it for those who perfer watching instead of reading:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxR2iKxoUDQ&feature=youtu.be
Pros:
You can pick your chapter marines (select few).
4 classes with customizable weapons and perks.
Powerups and grenade.
Survival mode.
Fully voiced codex entries.
Unlockable collectibles.
Local Co-op (2 player).
Drop in Co-op.

Cons:
Repetitive, no variety, there are no weapon pickups in a level.
Performs badly (60fps is easy but tanks with v-sync off between 70 to 220fps).
Can't access graphics options in the middle of a game.
Low resolution textures (although there is nice detail in the environments).
No easy Drop Out co-op.
No online multiplayer.
Camera is bad, it can bug out and get stuck or be at bad angle transitions causing enemies to hit you from off-screen.
No steam trading cards (minor but I feel I should mention it).
Little warhammer implementation, seems like another game with a warhammer skin slapped on it at the last minute.
Heavily re-used assets within the game and many assets used from other warhammer games under the THQ name (this game was originally on console under THQ in 2011)

I will continue playing and my perspective of the game might change a bit but with the gameplay being so boring it won't make much of an impact. Until then buy Renegade Ops or Halo: Spartan Assault instead. Wait for a sale if you REALLY like warhammer and twin stick shooters.

This game is a disgrace to the emperor!

I have to modify my recomand. Kill Team still has problems but serious problems seem fixed after update.
(Likes cam angle bug, bad mouse sensitive, etc.)
I'm glad watch Nomad Games has intention to modify and I hope they fix co-op problem too.
Update makes me feeling better, meanwhile, it means Nomad Games sold beta version of product to full price when I think about it. It's another nasty things.
So I still recomand you wait buying and watch the development of 40k: Kill Team.

------------------------------------------

When I saw Kill Team on steam, I'm really happy. I'm big fan of Warhammer 40k, I have 5000pts(Maybe 6k) Imperial Guard army, playing warhammer fantasy too, have lot of Warhammer game(most of them... you know, shity game), Novels... Trailer seems 'not bad 40k game', I was really happy, and buy 3 Kill Team for gift. Hah, damn you Archrite. You poolish ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

As both Warhammer fan and PC gamer, I can tell you it's not bad game for Xbox but PC... you know.
40k : Kill Team is kinds of big ♥♥♥♥ like Storm of Vengence. Well... strictly say... better than SoV....
Local Co-op? Bull ♥♥♥♥! It doesn't support co-op! It dosen't work! It doesn't! To start Co-op, you need press start button of 2p but in game you can only control 1p. Game option doesn't suport 2p key! Ofcourse, no invite friend option too! You can't invite your friend, both online and offline.

Bad optimization is another problem. In game, we control shooting angle by mouse, but can't modify mouse sensitive. Doesn't support wide screen, screen easily change wide to full to wide to full to wide by vaccine or whatever, and steam option cover game screen when press splint button. Game hint doesn't change. For example, It told me 'press LR to use Special Move'. What??? What is LR?? What am I supposed to do??? Bad cam angle is problem too.

It's not game for PC gamer, I recommand Do Not Buy, if if if yoooou really want play, buy Xbox version.

<Korean Version>

<5월 24일 추가>

In general I'm too lazy to write reviews ... but this game ... this game is a disgrace to the WH40K universe ... It is just bad in every imaginable aspects. Graphics are ugly, the special ability feels like a glitch, and the upgrade system is really pesky. But first of all: the designer, who came up with the idea of this camera movement, must be sacrificed for the emperor ...

This warhammer game reuses assets from the space marine game, not a bad thing. You feel less like a kill team and more like a patient at a doctors office, everything is a waiting game. Everytime you enter a section the game stops and spends 10-15 seconds showing you the area there is no way to skip this. Everytime you die at some parts and restart your faced with another wait period while it explains the same thing again. Even starting new game has a waiting period of 10 secs for no reason. This game is more like heresy that will drive any player to the point of chaos as the ruinous powers of the warp tear their mind apart at how tedious and boring this game is. Could have been a great arcadey shooter if it didnt stop the play ever minute or every area for some panoramic camera showoff of the area. Not a horrible game but not great since it breaks up the action, make sure to only buy it on sale.

Rating: 5/10 Value: $4.99

As a huge Warhammer fan, I enjoy almost any game in the franchise, as long as it's playable.

This game is not playable. On the 2nd stage the camera got locked behind the terrain and wouldn't move, so that I was looking at a very tiny character from behind multiple layers of terrain, making the game simply unplayable.

Some very basic bugtesting would have been...adequate. Sadly, it was not possible to explore the rest of the game, nor desirable to; the stilted camera panning and forced waiting to show you where to go (in what is basically a linear corridor shooter) was completely unneeded and interrupts any sense of fun. The fact that this is a console game is evident as soon as you realize you can't even use the mouse for menu options, and the lack of overall quality further reflects that whatever this game was supposed to be was held back by being a console game first and foremost. Very disappointing.

0/10 not playable, not worth a purchase for ANY discount.

I have bought this game being fully aware of its mixed reviews. But I asked myself how bad can it be? Now I know.
The technical glitches are mentioned enough in other reviews and honestly I can forgive the camera being stuck in one level, the intro video showing green artifacts and so on, if they were the only flaw in the game.
Even when the camera works (that is most of the time) the view is often obscured by objects in the foreground. It is plainly annoying to have to play were is Waldo ever so often to find my character inside the scenery. And having a panning camera in a twin stick shooter game is a plain bad Idea. Especially if it’s two players. I remember seeing more space marines drop to their untimely death because of camera movement, than falling to the enemy.
Speaking of which: the combat while initially fun is utterly unbalanced. If you want a cheap victory, go for the rocket launcher. This of course leads the scoring system in the two player campaign ad absurdum.
So if you do not expect much but a mediocre twin stick shooter in the 40k setting, go for it. If you want a good game, I am afraid you will not find it here.

A top-down shooter in the warhammer universe. Not a too good, but not too bad either. Because top-down shooter fans don't have too big collection to choose from and most participant is pretty bad i must recommend this, as it's playable at least.
Pros:
- Cool graphics,.Not too sophisticated, but does the job. I love warhammer style, especially the ork's statues are funny cool.
- Great sound, even the music is 'there'.
- Solid gameplay.
-4 different chars, but the gameplay only slighty differs.
Cons:
- Short, only 5 levels.
- No difficulty settings, and the 3rd and the last levels are pretty hard for mediocre players.
- Awfull checkpoint system, too big gaps between each.
- The camera is fixed and operated by the game. Sometimes, not even rarely, it goes behind walls or simply shows the other way rather than where you wanna see.
- Unskippable gamescenes. That's the worst! You die and start from the last checkpoint, but mostly all starts with a gamescene you have to view again and again and again. I had some pretty bad thoughts about the designers and the testers.

6/10 Better than mediocre top-down shooter. Fun for a playthrough.
