About This Software

FaceRig is a program enabling anyone with a webcam to digitally embody awesome characters. It is meant to be an open creation platform so everybody can make their own characters, backgrounds or props and import them into FaceRig.

FaceRig is being developed by Holotech Studios and the image-based face tracking SDK being used is provided by ULSee Inc. To find out more about ULSee Inc., visit http://ulsee.com or email them at info@ulsee.com. Our previous tracking technology was provided by Visage Technologies.

FaceRig has three versions:
  • FaceRig Classic is the base version of FaceRig, which allows for home non-profit use and even limited monetization on YouTube/Twitch or similar as long as the commercial aspect of it is not significant. We consider commercially significant using it on any avenue (channel) that produces you more than $500 monthly revenue. This includes ad-based revenue and voluntary donations (one time or recurrent such as a Patreon). If you are under this threshold you can use Classic, if you are above you need to upgrade to Pro or Studio.
  • the FaceRig Pro DLC, which allows you to monetize videos on YouTube/Twitch regardless of the monthly revenue, but not for content exclusive to paid/subscription based services, such as the new YouTube Red (for content that is exclusive to YouTube Red or similar you will need FaceRig Studio).
FaceRig Pro does not bring new assets, technical features or improvements to FaceRig Classic. For more details, take a look at the Pro DLC description
  • the Studio Version, which is not yet publicly released and will allow for unlimited commercial use, as well as access to the expression mo-cap data. For more details about this version, contact Holotech Studios.

We believe that FaceRig will entertain many gamers, modelling and animation artists, members of various fandoms, streamers, web casters, YouTubers and their audiences.
For now we're focusing on just tracking and rendering the portrait with its expressions, but we aim to do more in the future. The FaceRig end goal is to provide a full featured real time digital actor set for home use.

Key Features:
  • Real time head and expression tracking in an input video stream, (also with audio analysis).
  • Combining tracked data with additional virtual puppeteering input.
  • On-the-fly animation re-targeting for the tracked data and applying the animation on a user selected 3d model, with audio processing (voice alteration)
  • Rendering and lighting the animated model in real time, in a user selected background.
  • Encoding the rendered video and sending it further as output from a virtual webcam (it basically intercepts webcam input, and swaps the images captured by your real webcam with the fantastic content before sending it further).
  • Provide the interface for tuning the parameters of all operations above.
  • Customizable avatars
  • Open creation platform: you can make your own models (outside of FaceRig), import and use them as your avatars. The models need to be created according to a set of published specs.

Notes:
Numeric export of the tracked expression data (exporting the motion capture data to use in other applications) will be a feature reserved for the Studio version. FaceRig Classic and Pro only output already rendered video and audio.

FaceRig is an indie initiative, and its development so far has been successfully crowd-funded through Indiegogo. A warm thank you goes to our amazing backers for their support and enthusiasm.

Its a little clunky but after playing with it for a bit it was pretty fun.
If it is crashing upon start up, use the alternative launcher and it should work. :)

Cool face changing software that works well with Xsplit, Action and Skype. I joined a youtubers confrence skype call for #teamlive as the Tiger LOL it was pretty funny. Well worth the 8 or so bucks I spent on it for that moment alone and I know I'll have tons of more fun with it. It was easy to set up, worked with my web camera no problem.

Very amusing program. Streamed a few times as the cat and now the image is burned into a friends head when they think of me. Backed this when it was funded from Indiegogo and they totally delivered the program that worked as they said it would.

FaceRig is a program enabling anyone with a webcam to transfer his/her face gestures to a fictional character and use it on conversations, skype, or anything like that.

FaceRig, its a great creative software innovation, very funny with family or friends, i was thinking this would be awesome in the future to make animation, movie or game designs.

All motions and emotions are made on the fly just as you express them, Once you choose a 3D model, which you need a good Web-cam, quickly sync your face to record your facial features, even your voice to animate a character. It also supports custom made 3D models so if you have the knowledge you can animate your characters just as easily.

FaceRig has a lot of tools where you can edit your model, once you pick a character you can start changing their settings and customizing their colors & background, lighting, sound settings, etc...

You can also record everything with very high quality if you want you can also go more than that. Using enable broadcasting which lets you show your virtual characters on Twitch and even Skype (which is very funny)

It's all optimized well, no crashes, runs very smooth and so on.

FaceRig's Support have helped me a lot about the software and they show me huge respect i'm really thankful, and the creators have even gone on to state more free dlc models which is really appreciated aswell they update it often when there's issues.

FaceRig is very well made, there's no doubt about it, I can assure you that FaceRig is worth its price, you can make your own video to explain a hard lessons in class or more then that such as family gathering's,skyping and so on.

Pros:
Does whats its supposed todo.

Cons:
Unless your a model artist, you have to buy almost everything. After you've already paid about $15, FaceRig still puts its watermark on your live stream! It had to download 21 extra programs on my PC to run. The broadcasting button was hidden in advanced settings, and is very late and slow for recording videos/live streaming(with the watermark). The characters it comes with are cute, but can be very boring after first use.

FaceRig is a good program, but they are trying to get a little to much money for me to rate it up!

Just as with most real time effects, does need a pretty decent PC for it not to lag, but a great app.
