Content Update - The Plague continues to spread

The plague continues to spread across the globe. Over 9000 Zombies! experiences a host of new changes and additions. We request the help of all remaining survivors to continue the struggle against the unrelenting horde.

Significant changes have been made to the netcode. These changes are made in hopes of improving lag issues experienced by some players. With significant changes in code might come some new bugs so we invite everyone to leave feedback on the games discussion forum.

  • Massive improvements and changes in the netcode should increase the quality and stability of multiplayer games.
  • 2 new weapons: The Gauss SMG and the Conflagerator! Unlock these weapons by slaying over 9000 zombies in a single game.
  • 2 new turrets: The Auto-repair turret and the Multi-turret. The Auto-repair turret repairs nearby walls and turrets to help maintain your base when surviving for long periods of time. The Multi-turret automatically selects the best weapon among the Shotgun, the railgun, and the grenade launcher, depending on the range to the nearest zombie.
  • New map - Lapland - As survivors moved to northern regions of the globe to escape, the plague has followed. Brand new tileset and new sprites, also available to use in the Map Editor for Steam Workshop.
  • Improved sound effects for nearly all weapons and many effects. Sound effects should now feel more powerful and pack more punch and have a wider dynamic range.
  • Weapon unlock requirements have been lowered. Easier access to more powerful weapons has been made to each tier of weapons.
  • Zombie Historical Figures now spawn at a slightly greater rate, have a bit lower HP, and upon death, explode in a massive cloud of gore and blood as well as dropping a large cache of resources.
  • Tons of improved particle effects including, increase blood and gore, smoke trails, weapon tracer trails, shrapnel / spark effects, and more.
  • Improved / changed graphics for certain sprites.
  • Projectiles have been made to be more visible.
  • Now 3 varieties of fixed map walls. Also accessible in the Map Editor for construction.
  • Added support for a new resolution, 1360x768 . As always feel free to request a resolution in the game’s discussion forum.
  • Adjusted the properties for certain weapons.
  • Fixed a bug where light sources and shadows in local-coop were being rendered incorrectly
  • Fixed a bug where explosions were only being partially generated when the center originated near walls.
  • Several bugs fixed related to multiplayer / netcode.

Over 9000 Zombies! comes with an easy to use map editor that gives you the tools you need for making new killing arenas to share with the world. Make them funny, make them fiendishly hard, it’s all in your hands.

About This Game

Over 9000 Zombies! is top-down arcade action blown out of all reasonable proportions. An endless horde of zombies is coming your way, how long can you survive?

So you might have already sussed out that there’s a lot of undead after you. To stay alive you’re going to need this arsenal of over 20 weapons. Some you might recognize but others are very experimental. Whether you want to shoot, burn, blow up or microwave the zombies there’ll be a weapon for you.

Keeping the barrel of a gun between you and the zombies is a good start but you’ll want to stay out of the open when things get especially crazy. Scavenge scrap metal to build barricades for protection and deploy automated turrets for extra crowd control.

You don’t have to go it alone. Bring both trusted friends and talented strangers into your fold and team up against the hordes with 2 player online co-op and 4 player local co-op.

This level of slaughter needs some decent beats. Using cutting edge research techniques we have been able to isolate the optimum audio for efficient undead butchery. Scratch that trigger-finger itch to the sound of intense electro-rock from Clearside.

The zombies will never stop. They’re only going to get faster and nastier. Keep your eyes peeled for flaming zombies, highly poisonous zombies, zombie animals, giant eyeballs and even the risen remains of political figures. You’re going to die out there so make sure you leave with a bang.

Create your own unique levels to test your mettle and the power of the zombie hordes. Upload them to the Steam Workshop and show the world your creations.

Wonderful game, simple and fun. Although, maybe not worth the £7. Try to grab it while it's on sale instead, I did, no regrets.

They really sold themselves short calling this game "over 9000" zombies.

Yeah there are over 9000 zombies. But it's like saying over 9000 grains of sand on the beach. We're talking a lot of zombies here. Like hold down the grenade button and lay on that flamethrower and there are still too many zombies to see the ground. We're talking like, if these zombies were spontaneously generating from dirt, there's no way we aren't violating conservation of mass with all these zombies. We're talking more stories than grandpa has about the fourties zombies.

It's fun and simple. Would have liked to have seen more done with the building system, would have liked to see something to help with collection of drops, would have liked to see a higher turret limit than 6 (really, only 6?), but it is what it is and it works.

super simple concept, but very fun to play.

run around and shoot everything. mobs drop grenades, health packs, and metal pieces which are used to build barricades and turrets. you (and turrets) can shoot over barricades but not through walls. zombies can break walls barricades and turrets.

as you use a weapon you gain "xp" with it, when you max a weapon's xp bar, you unlock a new set of weapons (1-3 weapons).

you get a new skill point after completing each day (regardless of number of kills)

Permadeath, whole game resets upon death. good fun, but the multiplayer is 100% dead, you need to bring your own players to multiplayer.

Probably not worth $10 pricetag, but if you see this in a bundle, or on sale for <$5 BUY IT you won't regret it.

Over 9000 Zombies!

Probably the most simple and fun zombie game...

+Old School visuals and effects.
+Massive variety of guns, tools, power-ups.
+Simple gameplay
+Has Co-Op feature
+Tons of zombies. Each wave has lots of them and the number increases vastly.
+You can create your own map w/ Map Editor
+Steam Workshop

-When a wave ends the zombies that survives will stay unless you kill 'em i mean the ending of a wave doesn't mean killing all zombies nor it means at the end of the round they will disappear. NO! they will continue to roam and hunt you with the new zombies of the new wave and this makes the game really hard (it is not a Con)

-No bad sides just pure Fun and Challange
