Absolutely the best software I have ever used, bar none. My texturing process used to include labourious trial and error in bitmap editors and game engines, often with messy results and problematic mapping.

Substance Painter changed that all. I bought it along with Substance Designer during the Steam Summer Sale for a combined total of $180. Perhaps the best money I have ever spent. Not only is my texturing workflow faster, more efficient, cleaner and better looking, but it is also fun! Working with these products is a joy - texturing is now a genuinely pleasant experience.

Painter is a little intimidating at first, but Wes's Youtube tutorial series brought me up to speed in about 10 hours of work. I can now say I understand the interface fully (although my personal art skills probably need a bit of development!). The process requires you to see things little differently to traditional bitmap editing (i.e. Photoshop) and instead view the model as a canvas for real, physical materials to occupy space. Much better than before.

I'm a complete novice at Designer, but I found that it was necessary for creating custom textures for use in Painter. Buying the two together makes a lot of sense. Bitmap2Material is a little supurfulous (in my opinion), as Designer includes a more primitive version of the B2M workflow as a plugin. Ultimately it depends on wether or not you want the image tiling algorithm that B2M offers (which is quite powerful).

best texturing program i have ever used, so easy and quick its crazy, texturing becomes the best part of animating if you have this. For blender users once you have the correct node set up, what you see in substance painter is what you get in blender. I cant explain well enough how good this really is, you can make any low polly model look like a 10 mil polly model no joke. Blender uses feel free to add me and i will send you the node setup you will use for everything, when i say everything i mean everthing, you will never use another node set up besides this one. buy this as i highly recomned it to animaters and game desginers. any negitive reviews on this are just from dumb people who cant use the program correct. ( my spelling is fked i know )

If you know how to use layers in photoshop you can use Substance Painter, paint on what you want or drop in a material preset... booyah!
