About This Game

How long has it been? A man sits in a distant getaway cabin waiting for his wife Serena. Where is she? Things in the cabin evoke memories, and the husband comes to a disturbing realization...

This short point-and-click adventure is the result of a massive collaborative effort between dozens of fans and designers of adventure games. Rallying to support the venerable genre and its passionate community, these developers have brought together a grim and highly detailed horror story in what is the largest, possibly even the first, game project of its kind. Talents include crew from renowned indie companies Senscape, CBE Software, Infamous Quests, Digital Media Workshop, Guys from Andromeda, and many more.

Features

  • A (twisted) love letter to the adventure game community
  • Over 40 contributors provided their wit and talents
  • Extremely depressive mood, and a bit of fear here and there
  • A haunting story that will challenge your intellect (and temerity)
  • Amazing voice acting by legendary adventure game designer Josh Mandel
  • More awesome acting by popular video producer Pushing Up Roses
  • Yet another overwhelmingly astonishing surprise cameo by an ex-designer from Sierra!
  • Did we mention the gut-wrenching atmosphere?

It's a very good game if you like it completely story driven. Little hint. you have to listen carefully at the start...

I judged this game harshly through my first playthrough; I figured I was doing something wrong when my story was not progressing. Later on you realize this game is based solely on time moreso than completing tasks.

After figuring out the basis of how to complete the game, I found the dialogue to be great. The voice acting added more emotion into the story. Surely the story could have been thought out a bit more, I'm left with a few questions still as to why and how, but overall there was a nice one hour flow through the game.

If there's someone out there reading reviews before playing this game, do not exit out within the first 10 minutes thinking you're doing something wrong. It takes time, literally.

The writing and voice acting is very beautiful.

I missed the last couple of items, due to the darkness of the lighting but managed to find a walkthrough on Youtube. Definitely a story for adults.

It was fun unravelling the mystery, as short as it was. Many people here have said it was boring, but I personally think it's worth the free download. I would have even paid a bit for it.

In terms of storyline, I would have loved a flashback to tell us all the events that lead to the game, but other than that I was pretty satisfied. I did figure out the answer less than half way through though.

Semi-predictable and horribly repetitive. I would say it was too short, but I'm kinda glad it's over... less than 1hr of game play. Not impressed.

It's honestly not at all a bad concept. The gameplay is simple, but repetitive. When clicking on everything, he will repeat himself to show that there's nothing more to know, but that will get annoying, but at least you can cut it off.

The story is very predictable. Whatever is your first guess hearing the summary, is probably right. In the middle, it tries to throw you off, but in the end, proves useless. It's really not a bad story. In fact, it's somewhat ammusing.

I wouldn't call it a "horror" game per se, but the atmosphere and music tie it all together well.

The game does leave you off with some questions. They're not important, but you can't help but be a little cynical.

All in all, pretty good. It's at most only one or two hours long. So if you have the time, play it.

I personally give it an 8/10.

When first starting the game I thought it would be just some lame point and click horror game with a few jumpscares here and there but at the end (Not going to spoil it) its worth it. Gameplay is mostly just clicking on objects that may be important in uncovering the story of a man and his wife and waht happened between them. The game is quite short, it took me around 23 mins but because it is free and doesn't use much space it's worth a quick look.

Unnerving writing, ominous graphics, and a solid and unsettling conclusion.

That said, I did not like the way the game played, per se, though I understand the pace was necessary to ensure you heard the dialogue. But yes, totally worth...downloading for free.

A fun and simple game with a great story. Voice acting from Josh Mendel is fantastic. Ignore silly reviews that give no reason for disliking the game. It is a cheap, short and fun little game to pass the afternoon that will give you all the feels you could want.

+ Interesting story, open to interpretations
+ Good voice acting
+ Well paced. Some would say it's short, but it's just the right length for the story told. No fillers.
+ Free

- Escape button quit the game with no confirmation. Really annoying.
- No option to save the game
- No settings of any kind (graphics or audio)

nice 'experience'. I would call it interactive monologue ;). In general this is point-and-click adventure game but all you do is listening to descriptions of objects you find, discovering story along the way. Story is simple narrative with moral and spooky mood, i enjoyed it, give it a try.

IMPORTANT: game offers no save system and takes about 30mins to complete. ESC key closes the game.

Serena is a free point and click game.
You are a man, who's obsessed by a "Serena". You look around the cabin that you're in and try and get clues about what is going on. The story is interesting, if at some point kind of annoying, since the main character does whine in some cases too much. But that can't be thrown against the game, since that decision might've been deliberate and it might've been the point.
The voice acting is truly great. Especially for a free indie game.
The sound effects are proper and well made. It just adds to the atmosphere.
The visuals are fitting, but in some cases maybe slightly too low resolution. It's still ok, if you don't focus on the floor board textures too much.
But the story... it was weird. Truly weird. Having played through this game, I still don't think that I've figured out what happened. It's definitely well made and polished quite a bit.
Do I recommend this? Oh yeah! Approximately 25-60 minutes of free entertainment is never a bad idea. Give it a shot!
Truly, one of the better Point and Click games.

Really cool experience of a game that is hard to describe to someone who has not played a similar title before.

It's as it the character is you yourself, learning about their jumbled past, and slowly uncovering the mystery of their small cabin, and what exactly lurks inside and OUSTIDE of it, without ever leaving the suffocating space.

The voice acting in this game is SUPERB, and the key reason for my high opinion of this, essentially, walking simulator. You are really in for a roller-coaster of emotions during an hour it takes to finish Serena, and the male voice actor is a marvel beyond words.

Recommendations
Do play this game with headphones rather than on speakers, and keep checking all clickable objects as many times as it's needed. First few minutes may be a struggle to guess what triggers events but afterwards, keep clicking at everything clickable till the character starts repeating his lines - you sometimes have to get the exact line for stuff to start changing.
