This is one awesome mecha game. ^^ :)
Oh, and it gets better. Did I mention that it's free? Like "no charge"? xD
The game is based on a "freemium" model of play - the installation and play are totally free,
but there are some in-game purchases. However, these are not obligatory.
Don't worry; this is not a pay-per-win game. There are points you can "literally" buy for money (you don't have to, of course), and there are points (your basic income for upgrades) that you get for playing, winning, besting other players and completing achievements in game, on server.
Graphics are quite good for a free title. The textures and the details aren't spectacular,
but the effects combined with lighting are really, really good. Soundtrack is a nicely done mix
of electronics, along with some heavy bass lines - good to get the adrenaline going.
Gameplay is rich with details, but still fairly intuitive and an average player can get the hang of it in about an hour.
I sincerely recommend the virtual training program, which contains an excellent tutorial.
The mechanics and the physics of the game are very good - you can hover with a limited amount of fuel all around the map, and you really feel like you are a person inside a two ton walking/hovering combat vehicle.
There are five gameplay modes: Team Deathmatch, Free-for-All Deathmatch, Co-op bot destruction, "Siege" and Missile Assault. "Team Deathmatch" is truly addictive, and "Siege" is original and very well done - the aim is to collect energy to blast off your huge attack ship which you have to defend; and to destroy the other team's ship in a similar manner.
Number of maps is not that numerous, however, there is great freedom of movement and diversity of existing maps.
Number of details in the game may be off-putting for casual gamers at first, but don't let it scare you - in time, you will find your own balance and tune up your own perfect mech.
This game is really made for a wide audience; almost everyone can find something that they like.
If you like old school FPS, this should be fun. If you like tactical FPS, there are plenty of tactics, too.
Whether you're a team player or a lone wolf, it can be fun either way. :)
The community is friendly, too.
Give it a try! ;)
