About This Game

HAWKEN is a multiplayer first person shooter for PC that places you inside a mechanized war machine on the battlefield of a dystopian world called Illal. With strategic, fast-paced gameplay, HAWKEN features incredible alien landscapes, customizable and upgradable mechs, and dynamic experiences across multiple competitive game modes.

HAWKEN features 6 game modes: Team Deathmatch, Co-Op Bot Destruction, Missile Assault, Siege, Deathmatch and Co-Op TDM. Each mode offers a unique gameplay experience that requires a different approach and hones a separate set of skills.

  • Team Deathmatch
Two teams of six group together and battle as a team in a race to 40 kills. Fighting as a group and knowing when to play defensively is essential to survival.

  • Co-Op Bot Destruction
Team up with three other pilots for 25 waves of increasingly intense encounters against computer controlled mechs and attack drones. Every fifth wave is led by one or more elite boss mechs that can’t be defeated alone. Move as a group, plan your attack, and spend your resources wisely to eek out a victory against all odds. Co-Op Bot Destruction is currently available on the Facility and Front Line maps, each featuring a unique set of enemies.

  • Missile Assault
Split your team of six into groups and compete over three missile silos spread across the map. Capture a silo and maintain control over it to launch missiles against the enemy team’s base ship. Control all three missile silos to do bonus damage and end the battle even sooner. Flexibility and effective use of items are the key to destroying the enemy base before they destroy yours.

  • Siege
Collect EU from two energy sources in neutral territory and return them to base to launch an attack ship at the enemy base. Fight for control over the Anti Aircraft battery in the center of the map to keep your ship from being shot down before it reaches and destroys the enemy base. There is no time limit in Siege, but every ship you launch is more powerful than the last.

  • Deathmatch
Watch your radar and be careful not to expose yourself until you have the advantage in an intense free-for-all battle. The player with the highest score after 10 minutes wins.

  • Co-Op TDM
Team up with 5 other pilots for online TDM against computer controlled mechs. If you want to jump into a match and have some fun without concerning yourself with human opponents, then this is the mode for you!

HAWKEN features a wide range of customization options that allow you to craft a unique look and equipment loadout that other players will remember.

  • Cosmetic
Strike fear in your enemies and confidence in your allies with unique trim colors & paint patterns, chassis parts, thrusters, and repair drones. Taunt defeated opponents and make your teammates laugh with comic mech emotes and deployable hologram generators. Make yourself at home in your mech by using cockpit decorations, custom HUD colors and different combinations of primary and secondary reticles!

  • Practical
Customize your play style and abilities with passive internals and deployable items. Internals take one to three of six available internal slots and range in effect from giving your mech a unique ability, such as dashing or doing a 180 spin in mid-air, to temporarily boosting damage or healing each time you gain a kill or assist. Items can serve as an additional weapon (e.g. EMPs, Grenades), a deployable piece of equipment that helps you and your teammates (e.g. Portable Scanner, Shield) or one that disrupts your enemies (e.g. Machine Gun or Rocket Turret, Radar Scrambler). Select a loadout that matches your play style to defeat your enemies quickly, support your team, or control tactically important areas of the map.

Game Guide

HAWKEN offers pilots numerous mechs in three different weight classes that fill a variety of distinct roles on the battlefield. Find the mechs that match your play style and study the strengths and weaknesses of enemy mechs in our comprehensive mech guide.
http://www.playhawken.com/game-guide/mechs

HAWKEN has numerous maps to explore. But you can’t always enjoy the scenery--or get your bearings--while boosting away from enemies. Our Map Guide includes interactive maps showing major points of interest for every game mode on every map, plus lore, screenshots, gameplay tips, and more.
http://www.playhawken.com/game-guide/maps

Every mech starts with one primary weapon. You can purchase two additional primary weapons in the garage. You can purchase the alternate primary weapon at mech rank 3 and the prestige weapon at mech rank 5. You can swap your primary weapon in the Garage or in the Staging Area before a match or between respawns. Each mech only has one secondary weapon. They cannot be switched out for alternatives like primary weapons. However, all secondary weapons possess a special ability that provides additional functionality. Use the middle mouse button to activate that ability.

HAWKEN lets you change your equipment to customize and upgrade your mechs. You can equip a variety of useful items and deploy them in battle to gain an edge over your opponents.

Alright, let me just say: It's a great game. It's got good design, fun gameplay, and nice graphics.

HOWEVER: Hawken's Dev team is pretty much completely disbanded. You won't get any form of support, updates, etc. from the dev team because the dev team no longer exists. Ingame purchases with the premium currency also won't really work.

HOWEVER: Despite being unoffically dead, the community is still active, the game is balanced and fun, and its good enough that you can continue playing it. The "EPIC MANUEVER" feeling of tricking someone into attacking a hologram, then going up behind them and letting loose with a rifle is more then enough to keep you playing. Not only that, but the game's F2P model allows you to actually unlock everything related to gameplay (IE, not cosmetics) simply by playing the game. You can unlock all the mechs with the non-premium ingame currency.

The general statement: Yes, its dead. Yes, you won't get any support from the Devs. However, it's still active, and its still fun.

why not start a movement to let the fans takeover Hawken?

I recommend this game because its teamplay meta and customisation alows each different type of play to be fluid, etc
but i have the feeling that developers have left it behind or!!! .. (and I hope for it) they take time to make it a more ''official'' game with more marketing or whatever.. a game that good, I can just expect the best for it,
I cant believe its really have been left behind..

play !!! but dont pay money until the admin\devlopper are back
DO NOT FORGET YOUR PASSWORD....!!!!!!!!

btw, sorry my english sucks... lol

Despite no longer being supported by the devs, this game is very fun. I love the fast-paced combat of the mechs, rockets and bullets flying everywhere, and its a great looking game. I've never played a game like HAWKEN but after playing it for a bit, I can say that I really enjoy it. This game could definitely use more players, and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would enjoy playing it. Much of the small community that HAWKEN currently has, that I have seen so far, is also friendly and show good sportsmanship. I definitely recommend this game to anyone who'd like to experience fast-paced violence from inside a mech. Give it a try, it's free!

this game is in hiatus during litigation and resolution of ownership and transfer of rights. the devs didn't "abandon" it, their jobs evaporated out from under them. the company technically no longer exists. when/if it emerges from the legal processes ongoing, no one knows if it will be looted or rebooted. DO NOT buy MC codes from anyone--no one is there to maintain the accounting software. it's gone. nothing can be redeemed. period.
TL/DR: it's free. spend no money. play it and enjoy it just because it's amazing and fun.

Hawken was good, actually rather brilliant. I stopped playing for a while, then I jumped back on to find that the community of this game had gone downhill and I wondered why. I then found out that developers of hawken have abandoned this game. Such a shame because it was good.

Pros:
- Amazing graphics
- good gameplay
- you can usually find a server
- balanced

Cons:
- The developers have abandonned this game
- Password reset still very broken
- Current as of 2/9/15 if you lose your password you cannot get it back unless you contact customer support to send password reset to you manually
- There is no customer support on the official website

I truly think this game had alot of potential however because of the developers abandoning it there has been very small updates and not much change.. Since there's no customer support if you lose your password like I did you have to make a completely new account which means all your hours on your old account were wasted.

Still better than cod ghosts though 420/69

For me, HAWKEN has been the most fun I've ever had in a video game. It's fast-paced, it's challenging, and it's badass. Today, however, the game has its fair share of flaws. (Please note: I have not tried every mech out, and therefore I don't have comprehensive experience of weapons and mechs.)

The good:
The game is incredibly challenging. Often times, victory depends on both teamwork and on personal skill. Sticking with your teammates often results in victory.
HAWKEN offers a unique combat system, where your turn speed is locked at a certain level to make combat more interesting.
The default starter mech, the CR-T Recruit, is well-balanced and very powerful in the right hands.
Every* mech's special ability is very useful, and can be utilized in numerous situations. *Note that some mechs share the same ability (CR-T and the Assault mech).
All mechs have the ability to dodge left or right to avoid enemy fire. In addition, all mechs can fly for a short period of time.
Weapons feel well-rounded and powerful against most enemies.
The game offers Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Missile Assault, Siege, Co-op Team Deathmatch, and Co-op Bot Destruction. There's plenty of variation in the gamemodes, but the same basic concept rings true: shoot the other mechs.
Mech customization / cosmetics (note that cosmetics can only be bought with Meteor credits, which cost real money)
Each map, in detail and in gameplay, feels very different. The amount of detail put into maps is also commendable.
The game doesn't feel as though you can pay your way to glory. At least, not for very cheap.

The bad:
There's been a disturbing lack of new content in HAWKEN lately, and the reason for that (though the topic is hotly debated) is that the company (companies) that made HAWKEN have become unresponsive, and seem to be no longer servicing the game or its playerbase. Servers are still running, but developer forums and helpdesk have been shut down.
To gain enough HC (in-game, non-paid currency) to buy new mechs or parts for already-owned mechs, an intense amount of grinding is required. Despite the 250-HC bonus you can recieve (up to 6 times a day) for winning a match in any of the six gamemodes, there is still a lot of playtime required to buy the things you want.
The game doesn't really have a set storyline that's explained to players (...that I know of. feel free to correct me on this.). Looking for some kind of backstory on the nanovirus that has taken over the planet? Want to know more about Prosk or Sentium? You're outta luck.
Hacking is a notorious issue in HAWKEN, though I personally haven't found any hackers for certain in my time playing the game.
The playerbase is awfully small, with a little over 300 people playing at any given time. You'll start to recognize usernames pretty quickly.

Verdict:
Though HAWKEN has its glaring flaws, I've had plenty of fun playing it. I reccomend this game to anybody looking for something new.

The game is still very active and capable of playing.
There is a queue up way of joining games which makes it easier to find anyone really.

Hawken, is still ALIVE.
Don't back down from the other reviews, it is a ALIVE and running!
Join now and head for war!

I'm sure the developers are back to working on the game as well..
Don't make assumptions! Make miracles happen!
