Update 7.3 Released

For a long time, I've wanted a better way to communicate item drops and XP gain to players. Now, there's a new window that shows up at the end of each PvP match (after the player awards - wait 5 seconds or click the mouse button to show this menu). It'll animate the XP you gained during the match, and show any items that you unlocked (by reaching a level requirement) or dropped randomly during that match.

Note that XP is earned during the match, so resetting or leaving early won't incur any XP penalty. You just won't see the animation.

For PvE matches (e.g. Arcade, Challenges) this screen isn't shown because it doesn't work with the menu flow. But rest assured you are still earning XP and items in those modes - item drops during PvE will be shown as a mini-notification on the right-hand side as it always has.

Also made these changes:

  • Fixed ‘Match Won’ announcer clip being played before final ‘Score’ in hoops and Captue The Cube
  • Room name is displayed on game pause menu
  • Lowered level requirement for many built-in glasses
  • Fixed missing text on Arcade perk progress notifications
  • Fixed pathfinding issue for bots in Octagon preventing them from reaching some ramps
  • Added ‘follow’ button to main menu
  • Added ‘Assist’ Announcer line
  • Fixed final cube capture saying ‘Score’ in big text isntead of ‘Match Won/Lost’
  • Fixed missing buttons when navigating to Dedicated server browser and then back to Find Match panel
  • Status label on network panel works
  • Fixed fog in Cage being too strong
  • Fixed some key commands (like spectator movement) triggering while chatting
  • Fixed default Quality settings interfering with and overriding video settings (like reflections)
  • Fixed fog not rendering
  • Fixed reflection probes picking up unintended colors from powerups

I also added support for custom announcer packs! These will be ready-to-use items that you can create & subscribe to at any time. Check out the Workshop Guide for a list of file specifications. Basically take a bunch of audio files, give them the correct name, upload them as an Announcer Pack and players will be able to replace the standard announcer. Drop a note in the forums if you're interested in making one, but the process is a bit straightforward. The first one should be available shortly!

Other changes:

  • Death spiral now a more regular spiral and shows correct tint
  • Headphones pulse glow with the beat of the music
  • Shortened fire wave trail
  • Made fog more prominent
  • Ball particle effects pause when charging shot to avoid view obstruction
  • Improved charge particles
  • Announcer lines don’t overlap, and can queue (e.g. says “Helicopter” and “Triple Kill”)
  • Announcer says “On Fire”

If the title sounds awesome to you, get it. It's a great little arena shooter that at it's heart feels like Quake Live on LSD.

You know what, this is a great game and I wish I played it more often than I do.

It's one of those games that is ridiculously fun to play with people. The AI is boring and so therefore it's not a game to play with by yourself. With a group of friends, you guys will have a blast. There is a variety of game modes, such as a basketball like mode or a mode where you need to hang on to a certain ball for a certain amount of time first, but death match is just where the real fun and this game's strong point is.

There is a lot of powerups, there is great player customization, and there is (for some reason) item drops you can use to sell, trade, or create cosmetic stuff with. No, I mean like legit actual items, like steam item drops. Weird for an obscure indie game to implement that feature, isn't it? Granted, 16 of my friends already have this game, so I suppose it isn't too obscure. Regardless, if you are looking for a game with some meat on it for a decent price even outside of a sale, you found it.

The gameplay is fast paced, it's fun, it's simple, it's just good. There is only negative experiences I've had, such as people catching my shots from ridiculous distances from them, that I feel had more to do with connection issues (my friends are all ♥♥♥♥ing europeons for some reason, damn foriegners). However, I do notice the ball can still be caught even after hitting a wall or the ground, which I think is unfair and unnecessary. The game could have more content if the developer had the desire to add anymore I feel, but I think the asking price is still fair for what you're getting. So don't think to hesitate.

7/10

Pros-
Good fast & simple gameplay
Fairly unique take on the genre
Good enough amount of variety

Cons-
I feel the game could have more content such as more maps and the likes, maybe even the ability for users to make their own maps.
I feel sometimes that catching is ridiculous, especially when it has already hit the ground.
AI sucks real hard and online isn't overwhelmingly active, you will need friends.

A little diamond in the rough, definitely worth picking up. Sort of like Rocket League with robots. Better choice than Supraball, that's for sure.

Servers are dead. No friends to play with. Absolutely alone in this game.
BUT I STILL LOVE IT SO BAD, WHY IS THERE NOBODY?!

- In hopes of maybe one day playing this game with someone.

Its like playing dodgeball in a nightclub while a laser-tag game is in progress.

Probably one of the best games I've played since its release.

RRDDD is a decent standalone game that lacks a solid community, likely because of it's arcade-style gameplay. This isn't uncommon within games of a similar caliblre and genre but it's worth taking into account, especially If playing outsite the US like myself

Regardless, It's still a respectable game and you can have a lot of fun with a handful of friends. It's $1 humble bundle until the 26th of july, so take a look!

good thing I got this game in the humble bundle. I always wanted to play it but if feels completly awkward. I assume because of bad netcode. You get hit by balls not even remotly aimed to your direction and it stutters all the time (or is it slowmotion?). Even with the fix to force d3d9 it still feels out of place. This game needs better netcode and a way better tutorial (what is grinding and how do I do it in this movement system?). I really can't recommend the game. There are even arenas which are just 1 room with nothing to hide where this game becomes completly random. I wanted this game to be as fluid as rocket league but it feels completly wrong.

(Played some singleplayer matches with bots some matches against players and bots mixed and some matches with only players)

The most fun I've had playing an online multiplayer game in a long time. It's challenging without being frustrating, the announcer is full of laughs, and the game is wonderfully customizable from being able to change up your character to being able to play whatever music you'd like in game (let's be real - the equalizers in the arenas are cool as hell). My only problem with this game is that it's pretty dead. Grab a 4 pack and have an absolute blast with friends.
