The Graveyard is an indie simulation game where you, an old lady, slowly walk to a bench located in a graveyard to either take your permanent dirt nap, or sit to listen to dogs bark in the distance. There is no gore, no fighting, no jumping; you are simply an old lady hobbling toward a bench in a graveyard.
The description of the game states that it isn't a game, that it's more of an expression of art meant to be explored. This expression, though not exciting, is very accurate.
+ If you dont "wake up" from your nap on the bench, your old lady dies. Yes, I'm a fan of perma death in games.
+ Absolutely NO learning curve, so anyone can play this when they're s*itfaced drunk,
+ Black and White, graphics are okay for what this game/art is.
+ Background noises sound realistic. It's almost like sitting outside in a park where cops are doing a drug bust at the other entrance.
- There's a song after you sit on the bench.. its not in English and while the lyrics resonate with me, it has no emotion in it.
- No achievements or replayability to this game. You either die or you don't.
- The game is not worth the current price, which is $4 in USD.
I really, really, wanted to have a soliloquy while playing this, or at least, I wanted to experience immense emotions from this game. Sadly, I didn't. There is little emotion to this game, it's not moving at all. And I think that to me, is the biggest disappointment. The concept of the game that isnt a game is very unique, and the expression of art is there, but it's there without feelings. I rate this a 5/10 and while I am giving it a thumbs up, I can only stress NOT to buy it at full price, and to instead, get it in a bundle or on a sale. Supporting an indie developer is nice and all, but the player should have their moneys worth, and I don't feel this game delivers its moneys worth.
