About This Game

Thanks to Young Horses, Slick Ent Inc, and Team Meat for allowing us to do these amazing crossover exclusives for our Steam launch.

What is Bardbarian?
Bardbarian is a game! A game we've been lovingly working on for far too long and are ready to unleash on Steam with (hopefully) some love from the Greenlight Community.

What genre is the game?
It is a mixture of Tower Defense, RPG & RTS with some 'Shmup and Snake elements.

What's the Story?
You play as Brad the barbarian, who is awoken to the sounds of his town under siege. Today is different though; Brad has grown tired of fighting all the time. The usual grind for XP has grown dull, and he has decided to pursue his dreams of making music instead of shedding blood. Fashioning a lute out of an old axe, he steps out to save his town in the most bizarre of ways.

What's Gameplay like?
Move Brad around the battlefield and dodge incoming enemy attacks and projectiles. Brad is constantly playing his axe-lute and generating notes, standing still will cause him to "jam" and generate notes even faster. These notes act as your in-game resource; you can spend them to perform solos to summon units to follow and fight for you, as well as solos to boost their performance.

Navigate your party through the hordes of enemies, dodging and attacking, preventing them from destroying your town's prized decorative crystal. Survive waves to progress, collect loot, and unlock new units. Upon death you are able to visit the town shop in order to upgrade Brad, the town and your followers, in hopes to make it further next time.

This game is tons of fun! You can easily get lost in it for a good amount of time.

Although It sort of has a grindy feel to it, kill enemies - get coins - die - upgrade - fight more, etc.. It is very fun and can be quite challenging as you get towards the harder enemies before you've upgraded your hero and his units. It is quite rewarding though, as you try to survive and unlock more characters and better stats for your group and battle area.

Good Fun, Do Recommend.

Good fun. Could have been better or more varied. Shows its colours as a mobile port.

The game is quite easy and more of a grindfest, but if play the 'insane' mode then it's actually more skill based and much much more fun.

Cheap yet fresh! Like a bag of tomatoes that taste surprisingly sweet.

You are the tower, set up your party and walk around as your buddies listen to your jams and kill the never-ending horde, so it goes.

If you're in the mood for a Tower Defense but are tired of Tower Defense, then play this Defense game. Plus it has Isaac and Meat Boy as a crappy unit: 11/10

A very original concept and fun to play. The graphics are fun and have lots of bright colors, the sound is good, and the music is, well, 80's hair-metal guitar riffs that make my ears bleed and not in a good way. The units you can summon are mostly pretty cool (I use blue sword warriors or ninjas, a necromancer, and either a hammer stun thrower or mage) but some are basically useless. The enemies are nothing special and are pretty standard fare for a game like this. It has a few funny little things thrown in, like how you can recruit the town drunk to walk up and down the screen and barf out toxic vomit puddles that slow the enemy. The powerups are all cool and the game is a fair challenge, requiring some grinding and upgrading in order to beat the game. It even has a mode after you beat the game so you can play on longer and gives you new items and upgrades, something you rarely see in games.

7.5/10 good replay value

10:30 pm - "I'll start this game up for just 5-10 minutes to see what it looks like, before bed"

4:30 am - "Why does my eyes hurt? Oh, it's because I was suppose to have went to bed, ALMOST SIX HOURS AGO!"

Funnest $0.59 I ever spent!

I'm not sure why everyone calls this tower defense, since it plainly isn't. Maybe none of them know what a shmup is. This is a game where your firing is largely out of your control, but you try to dodge around large numbers of projectiles, while manuevering so that your shooting kills enemies. This is a very fun take on the schmup genre, that I highly reccomend for the price

Not the kind of game I ordinarily would have picked up, but after watching my girlfriend play it I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did.

Gameplay sort of resembles a tower defense game in that there are hordes of attacking enemies, but instead of placing towers you defending it. You do this by controlling the main character who is a barbarian turned bard (hence the name) who summons a party of characters (of up to three different types) that follow him around and do all the heavy lifting.

Between its humorous nature, the upgrades, and the increasing difficulty it remains enjoyable despite, or maybe because of, its relative simplicity.

Amazing game, stupid, hilarious and addictive, grabbed it cheap but would pay full price. Lots of different units to try out and find a group that fits how you play. Love the final boss!

Personal Rating: 8 of 10

A different twist to Tower Defense with RPG twist. You basically controls a Bard which summons characters to your side to try and stop incoming waves of enemies. I know this was originally a mobile game but the PC port was great with different resolutions, balanced gameplay (upgrades are purchased with in game earned coins), keyboard supported plus 3 addtional units.

The reason I only gave this game an 8 instead of a full 10 was because I think it still lacked of content such as having more heroes, items, skills or perhaps, longer campaign. After completing the campaign, you can still replay them to earn cash or play the unending mode. The unending mode however automatically resume on the level you last died and it can be frustating specially when you cannot fully summon all units at once to resume but the enemies comes in hordes.

I do look forward to Bardbarian II with more witty ideas and content to the game from the developers!

It has some sort of spirit which I can relate only to the Realm of the Mad God. Gives all the pleasures of RPG elements without forcing you into reckless grinding. Game play is more about your skill rather than coins spent .

There is a guy puking all over the place. 11/10

Around 7 hours worth of gameplay in this before you get sick of the music. For this game's price, the value is worth it.
