Ce que les développeurs ont à dire :

“Infectonator : Survivors is currently in Alpha, which means we haven't finish it yet. What you see now is only a portion of what the full game will be. By buying Early Access you are giving your support for the team to continue developing the game and to make it MORE AWESOM-ER! On top of that, you'll receive a new build of Survivors every month and get to play it before anyone else. You can even pitch in ideas and help us shape the game better. As early adopters we will also reward you with The Art of Infectonator digital art book (like the game, these aren't ready yet, but you'll be the first to get access when they are launched).

Currently the game includes:
* Single player mode with randomly generated goodness
* More than 20 unique survivors, including special cameo appearances
* Huge range of weapons and items
* Random game events

Our to do list includes:
* More characters
* More weapons, turrets, items & gears
* Research & Crafting system
* Build & Customize HQ
* Oregon Trail-esque traveling system with a twist

On the game's price - we are keeping this price until the end of early access, when the full game is released. The price will not go down until then, and in fact, will probably only go up once all the new features are included and we're in final release.”

Update #24 - More Updates and Upgrades! - April 21, 2015

Hello again survivors!

Today, we are back to give you more improvements and features!

Camping System
Remember the small HQ you occupy every time you complete your mission, in the earlier version of the game? While for some times we put it aside from the game, we've re-enacted the feature and turned it into camping system. This camp will help you to take rest and prepare your survivors for next explore, such as restoring survivors' health, rearranging weapons and gears, etc. It is not fully implemented yet, but later every of your survivor will have their own camping perk that can give benefits to your current team, for example one of the survivors can automatically heal injured survivors.

Retreat While Exploring Map
As we know that in prior update, we'd recreated exploration flow and turned it into procedural map travel maze, where survivors are able to continue exploring buildings next to it. This time, besides camping, you can just cut off your journey and get back to your base immediately amid your way to other places. It's benefit for you when you feel you cannot continue because of your survivors' condition or when you're running out of time (move) to travel, as it could give you penalties. This mechanism can still be improved and still is missing few things, but we're almost there!

UPDATES
Here are the detailed change log for this week

  • Camping System - You can set a camp in the middle of your travel and make preparations.
  • Retreat - You can abort your mission and head back to HQ.
  • Additional Perks - Adding new perk.
  • Additional Songs - Adding more in-game background music.
  • Bug Fixes - fixed other more minor bugs.

Let us know what you think of the updates in the comments below!

Improvement in crafting system, material usages, and HQ construction/activity are our next goals, so expect us to finish it on some next updates!

We promise to bring more updates in the following weeks!
Thank you for being patient with us and the game's development.

Update #23 - It's All About Modding! - Mar 27, 2015

Hey there survivors!

Before I started making games, I was a game modder. My first ever game development experience was modding games back when I was in high school. It was fun to create something new and add it into a game I was playing, or just to see something stupid happen by changing a few variables.

I want people to enjoy my game not only by playing it, but also by fooling around with it and possibly creating something awesome in the process (or something funny). So, I set a few goals when I started working on Infectonator : Survivors. One of those goals was to build a moddable game that allow its players to add their own content and share their creations with other players.

I'm happy to announce that Infectonator : Survivors now supports modding! It's a work in progress, so not everything is moddable yet, but hopefully it will be in the future. Currently, you can create your own characters, weapons, teams and zombies or change existing ones.

Trying Out Mods
You can install and try our test mod by following these simple steps!

  1. Download our test mod conveniently named "testMod" here :

  2. Locate Infectonator Survivors installation directory. Usually it's under "Steam\SteamApps\common\Infectonator Survivors". You can simply open Steam -> Library -> Right click on Infectonator Survivors -> Properties -> Local Files Tab -> Browse Local Files

  3. Locate "assets/mods" folder inside, then place the "testMod" folder there.
    • Windows - in Windows the path should be something like this : Steam\steamapps\common\Infectonator Survivors\assets\mods\testMod
    • Mac - in Mac, right click on Survivors.app -> show package contents -> Contents\Resources folder -> create assets\mods folder inside of resources -> place testMod inside assets\mods.
This simple mod will replace Sydney with a Black and White male character.

Click on Browse Local Files to access the game's installation directory.

This is the testMod in action.

Creating Mods
To create your own mods you can follow these steps.
  1. Download game asset resources templates and examples. You can download the modding resources here :

  2. Follow the link above and you'll find Character Mod template and Weapons Mod template.

  3. We use Flash CS5 to create our game assets and animations. So, we provide you with the Flash CS5 template FLA file that you can modify. If you don't have Flash we also provide you with the exported sprite images in PNG format.

  4. After you have created your own game assets, export it into PNG sequences. Then you'll need to turn it into a Texture Atlas. To do this we use TexturePacker, you can download it for free here :

  5. Select the Starling/Sparrow format to create your texture atlas in TexturePacker. Then insert all your game assets inside. You can also check out the TPS file included in the template.

  6. The final product should be a Texture Atlas PNG and XML file. Place these files into your own Mod folder and place it inside the "assets/mods" folder.

  7. For a Character Mod to be loaded properly you'll need to include a couple of XML config files.
    1. EquipmentList.XML, an XML file that begins with <equipments> tag
    2. CharacterList.XML, an XML file that begins with <characters> tag
I recommend that you play around with our testMod to learn about these XML config files.

WARNING!
Use mods at your own risk. By modding this game you may unintentionally cause the game to crash.
If you find that the game crashes, simply delete your mod and restart the game

Modding Rules:
  1. Place your mod files inside a new folder.
  2. Place the new folder inside the 'assets/mods' directory.
  3. You can add more than one mod into the 'mods' directory. Each mod should be separated with a unique folder.
  4. Avoid using the same file name. Name conflicts may cause errors.
  5. Always use this naming format [YourName]_[ModName] on the beginning of your files and textures when modding to avoid conflicts with other modders. Example "Kris_ResidentEvilMod_Characters.xml".

In the future when the system is more stable, we'll integrate this mods system with Steam Workshop. However, at this stage we are still actively tweaking and rewriting game codes to make the game more mod friendly.

New gears and perks!
Now your inventory can be added with new collection of gears, such as several bigger medic kits, scopes with longer range, an electric-powered shock-therapy portable defibrillator, and, guess what, pack of LANDMINES! Now you get the chance to be able to tactically set the mine up and let it set off to kill zombies passing it over. It has its range to make a killing area effect.
Several new character perks have also been made and added on, and soon will take effect immediately when you use them. Some of the characters haven't got perk yet and we'll make sure to make it done on later update.

UPDATES
Here are the detailed change log for this week
  • Modding System - Introduced modding into the game.
  • Extra Gears - More higher tier and brand new gears.
  • Additional Perks - New perks for some of the characters, such as quick reload.
  • Bug Fixes - fixed other more minor bugs.

Let us know what you think of the updates in the comments below!

We've done creating additional music and hopefully we add them as soon as we release next update.

We promise to bring more updates in the following weeks!
Thank you for being patient with us and the game's development.

This game is a tad bit fun. It might even be worth your hard earned monies. But not at the price of 12.99. This is a 2 to 3 dollar game at best. I can easily, off the top of my head, list games that are in the same genre and beat this game hands down: Project Zomboid, Fort Zombie (even with all the bugginess), and rogue survivor. What I expected, from the description of this game, was Fort Zombie+UFO: Afterlight-lots of things due to it being alpha. What I got instead was essentially a more spiffy web browser game (even the graphics reinforce this notion of the game).

Pros:
+Solid semi-fun mechanics

Cons:
-No challenge (you don't even need turrets half the time and you would be hard pressed to lose any survivors)
-Limited tech tree
-Oversimplified mechanics (for a zombie game that's 12.99)
-Unintriquing story
-Pretty much no content that justifies the current price even for an alpha

This may all change as the devs continue to release material for the game. However, until they do I highly recommend those of you looking for a rogue zombie game to check out Project Zomboid, Rogue Survivor, and even Fort Zombie if you are considering this game. If you haven't played Rogue Survivor it is FREE to download and play, and it offers a good challenge for those who like games in the rogue genre. On the other hand, if you want a good rogue-like game that combines RPG, strategy, and tower defense there is also Dungeon of the Endless which is absolutely fantastic (and very challenging).

More in-depth analysis:

I recently replayed this game. While the tone is much more apocalyptic many of the issues I had with the game haven't been addressed. Primarily, the issue of getting me hooked and wanting to continue to play the d*** thing. I'll divide this up into several sub-sections.

1. Failures on the zombie survival game level.

Again, if you're looking for something to fill the void of being eatten alive by the undead (wait, what?) there are plenty of other titles out there. This game fails on this premise simply because supplies are too plentiful. It is too easy to acquire absolutely everything that you need to survive. Most zombie survival (and rogue-likes) turn every move into a time vs ammo vs hunger sort of mechanic. IE, if I engage that horde of zombies how much ammo do I waste to get the supplies they're guarding? That simply isn't the case here. The issue becomes simply one of finding enough food and resources, which are too plentiful. But that's partially due to design. Because you *have* to clear each level there is no room to design the levels around players making strategic decisions (rather than just tactical ones).

2. Failures on the level of tower defense.

The towers/turrets are still just over-simplified fluff. I didn't get to (and I didn't want to either) play long enough to see if we see towers/turrets evolve. Are they even really necessary? Well, they could help someone who doesn't know how to manuever characters in the middle of combat. I could see that, but I still don't feel that we need them. At this point in time they're just feature creep.

3. Semi-successful on the management side:

With getting rid of the rest period between fights we actually do see a useful element of management occuring, however this is undermined by the fact that the game is still way too easy. In a 1-2 hour play through I ended up with enough characters to both send out into the field and to research/build stuff (and I choose a 2 character start). If the devs manage to make the game challenging the current management part of the game might become more important and less feature creep.

4. Still just a way too easy RPG tactical:

We still don't see the game improving to the point of really having much promise. It is mildly fun for a 1-3 hour play through (though boring to come back to). While the devs talk about a lot of exciting improvements none of the changes they're proposing will actually fix the main issue with the game: Making people want to (continue to) play it.

I think what has to absolutely be addressed is either developing a decent story to make us want to play through the cities or to ratchet up the challenge (preferably both). The later of which doesn't necessarily have to come from overhauling combat, just rebalancing how players get resources. Specifically, redoing drops from zombies and forcing most of our resource gathering to be from scavenging the mission sites. This might make both turrets (as a way to deal with really difficult waves) and management (as a way to balance injured personel) more important and less feature creep-ish.

The game is really good, but I have a couple of suggestions:

- I think at the moment it's way too easy. I'm able to hold off a block at "Dangerous" level including a boss zombie with only 2 survivors with no problem at all. I now have something like 15,000 ammo and 300 supplies and an insane amount of weapons and building material. Also, I don't know about anyone else but I've never had the need to build turrets.

- Going through blocks that you have already cleared is incredibly tedious... you're needed to hunt zombies in the building even though you have done it already? I don't see the point in having to do it a second time, especially if there's one zombie left and you're out on a wild goose chase to find it is pretty agrivating. Maybe after a random amount of days those blocks can become repopulated with zombies again?

- I really dislike that you have to always return back to your HQ in order to save progress. I think there should be an option to set up camp at the block that you have just cleared, maybe have a limit per in-game day that you can do this.

- I hate that you can switch equipment mid-clearing. It should be that the weapons that the survivors are already using to shoot zombies just stay that way until it's clear.

- Just a glitch I've come across when clearing zombies in the merchant block. I headed to a merchant block that I had already cleared and found that there were two merchants?? I couldn't talk to the second one or anything, it was just his playermodel standing there. No guards, just the merchant.

- It'd be great to see more variety/customisation in the survivors. Maybe like weapon specialisations, such as rifles or shotguns. Or even talent trees.

All this being said, the game is really good and would recommend playing this game, and any other Infectonator games, it's just a couple of things that I think could be improved.

At the first look, this game looks like any other better flash games. It might be true but it's pretty addictive and funny. Soon enough you'll noticed that you spend quite some time on it. With each update you see more and more stuf which brings more tweaks to the game, making it even more interesting.

Game is quite simple. You fight zombies, look and scavenge for materials, upgrade your gear and your characters, explore town, fight bosses, find survivors, fix your car, get some fuel and travel to next town. Even if it sound quite boring at first you end up playing the game for few hours and only then you notice how much time you spent on this "simple" game. I myself ended up playing from the begining like about 30 times just because I didn't want to see my characters dead haha... After spending more time you notice that some areas become harder to deal with and you end up constantly healing your characters or trying to find a better strategy how to fight off zombies. Turrents, reminding you tower defence games, help you a bit but they need quite some supplies and they stay at that place, unless you dismantle then. Of course, no matter what you're doing zombies sometimes get to eat raw brains and you end up losing a character which might or might not be very important for you because of it's stats, gear and/or anything else :P

I spent some time on this game and I'm pretty happy with it. After a while you notice that it might become more interesting with more stuf, but for that we need to wait for more updates. I really recomend playing this game even if only for a short time.

P.S. Don't hate me for my grammar :3

Infectonator : Survivors , Small Review by Santo98

I would just like to start with this game being within Alpha and I can not go full blown with this.

Pros:
- The Music gets you pump'd
- The Scavange System is nice
- Movement system is nice, you can either click and drag or just click
- For being in Alpha, there is a nice amount of weapons.

Cons:
- After Completing a Mission, you are only greeted by a sentence saying you've made it, at least something visual
- The price of healing, I think it could be lowered to atleast 30 or 35 coins, 50 coins is quite a lot
- Your ability to reload, automatic reloading between waves would be nice

Overall though, I'm enjoying this game so far and hope the best for it and all of it's future updates, being a fan of the series.

Pretty fun little game. For an early access game, it's pretty enjoyable. Very difficult at times. If you expect it to be like Toge's
flash project "Infectonator", you'll be dissapointed. It has the same art style, but this game is much more than what the original flash game was. There's still some room for work here, but like I said.. Early access, so it has time to become something huge.

While the game seems fairly simple, there is actually a decent amount of strategy to it, especially as time goes on and it gets harder and harder to fight through zombie waves. I'm reviewing this game in it's alpha form, so keep that in mind while reading.

Pros
+ Fun and addicting gameplay as you try to survive as long as possible
+ Equipping characters with different guns is a lot of fun
+ Gun sounds are really well done
+ Randomized maps and items make for a lot of replayability
+ Scavenging system is a lot of fun

Cons
- Not enough tower defense elements (you can set up turrets and that's about it)
- Trying to support more than 4 survivors isn't really worth doing until much later in the game
- Zombie health increases as days go on, I'd much rather see bigger hordes
- "Zombie Hunts" aren't much fun, especially when there are 1 or 2 zombies left and you're just walking around aimlessly hoping they pop up. That mode of gameplay should be redesigned
- Maps are very small
- Price is a bit high for an indie alpha

Overall, I'd still recommend getting this game to support the developer. It can provide hours of fun and has a ton of replayability.

I played the flash version, loved it. I was excited for this early release and have not been disappointed. This game is simple, addictive, and (surprisingly) thought provoking.

Pros:
-Weapon range
-Character builds
-Random events
-Research system
-Characters actually loose life when they don't eat
-Weapon knockback feature
-Replayability

Cons:
-Reloads and/or heals not completing on level transitions
-Map navigation makes portion of the game slow and tedious
-Level length (would love to see some 3 or 4 transition buildings to add to difficulty)
-Supply/Weapons are never obtained where they should be (gun store/police station never have any guns). Would be cool to know exactly where to expect to find certain types of items. Would make map navigation more strategic.
-Supplies are maybe a little too scarce (while I realize this meant to be a zombie survival game, 2 to 0 supplies per building make it almost impossible to keep the basic 4 character team build from starving each round after a while). If you want to have more than four players to focus on research, forget about it. I very rarely keep more than 6 players on my team for this reason.
-Not being able to walk and reload at the same time. increases difficutly, but not very realistic.

Best Feature:
The "random events" system at the end of some levels is what completes the game for me. After a few hours, the game can become fairly stagnent. Difficulty increases, but if you get the hang of weapon combos (2 ar's, 1 shotgun, 1 melee) and creating choke points, you can breeze through most of the levels with little difficulty. And then, once the game starts to become mechanical and get boring, it throws an uncontrollable wrench into your system: "You hear moaning behind the door...A zombie horde is onto you, you manage to get away but now all survivors make it." All of a sudden, you loose your best weapon, you loose your best player, and you have to completely reevaluate your approach.. Do I need to go find a merchant?. Do I need to go find a survivor?, etc.. BRILLIANT game mechanics to spice things up in a no-going-back zombie game. I would love to see further development in this portion of the game.

Worst Feature:
My biggest complaint about the game mechanics would have to be with the map navigation. As the cities get bigger, only being able to move to adjacent buildings makes the game progression very slow and tedious. At certain points in the game, you just want to move across the map quickly, especially when you have alreayd cleared 98% of it. It would be nice to be able to move to any building that you have already occupied, no matter where it is on the map or how far you are from it. This would expediate th e most tedious portion on the game and let you get into the core gameplay quicker.

All-in-all, a very good game. For the price, I would recommend it.

Infectonator joins the ranks of the many iOS ports assailing Steam, but it's not a bad get for us. See, while this version would still work better with a touchpad, its simple and satisfying game mechanics make it fun, addictive, and challenging regardless.

It's still quite rough around the edges in its current state. I've experienced a handful of bugs, but none that are so glaringly awful that they've made the game less fun. No, on the contrary, while I facepalm every time I read "4 supplies was consumed," I like the goofiness of Infectonator. It's quite charming, even with its silly references (L4D, doge meme, HL2, etc).

So, what's fun about it? It's a real-time strategy game with a crew of survivors functioning like towers in a tower defense game. You can direct their movements throughout small maps, build turrets (actual towers), and scavenge for supplies while fending off (you guessed it) zombies. The basic gameplay involves choosing who goes on a mission in which area and, ultimately, fixing a car filled with fuel to GTFO of town. There's nothing really profound here; it's just a solid melding of elements that are fun.

Now, normally when a game designer says "Hey, I really like RTS games, FPS games, RPG games and, hell, I like playing horseshoes, too. I will make all of those one game," I cringe and run very far away. Here, it's simple enough that it can't fail. There are RPG elements (or "element" really). Level up your homies and you can click one of their stats to make it higher. There are management elements: scavenge the supermarket for food or the gas station for fuel. There is real-time strategy. There is tower defense. None of these things is particularly great, but alll of them together make for a fantastic time waster.

It plays like an iThing game because it is an ithing game. If you don't mind paying $10 for repetitive but frantically enjoyable gameplay, do it. I recommend.

6.8/10

For $13, I'd say that so far I've gotten my money's worth. The game is in Alpha, and is receiving updates at a decent pace as well. As I've played it, there have been a few things that I feel would make it better have they been added, but the game's still Alpha, so long as they keep working on it, I can only see it getting better.

Pros:
-Excellent music (one of the main things that brings me back to playing it at times)
-Good variety of weapons along with tiered progression
-Decent variety of survivors to find, and an okay amount to pick from to start off the game with
-Plays very well on my laptop, minimal lag and such, so it's a solid experience that isn't interrupted by FPS drops

Cons:
-It can get repetitive after a while of playing
-Entirely Single Player at the moment, no idea if they plan on some kind of Co-op or something
-Obviously Alpha, so there may be a few bugs here and there (many of which in the past have been successfully patched)

Well that's about all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment. It's a pretty fun game with excellent music and it's an enjoyable way to spend a bit of time. As of this moment, I'd say it deserves an 7-8/10, it's fun, but breaks should be taken every so often to not tire it out (like many other games of course), and it's still in Alpha so we don't necessarily know exactly where it's going from here. (Also I might update this every so often as the game progresses, maybe I won't, we'll see).

If you liked the flash games (Infectonator: World domination, Infectonator: 2) then you will love this game too. Instead of playing a scientist hell-bent on ruling the world with zombies, you are killing them. Aswell as surviving. Meaning you need to keep watch on your food, fuel and the state of your survivors. The game may be in early access but it's already a great game.

And for you L4D fans you can play as the characters from L4D 1.

Great fun, Good mechanics, Can't wait for more to be added. What are you waiting for?
