Love Update #6, a quick fix

Not too much to this update, but I wanted to make sure to add in a keyboard control fix that has been requested.



Now instead of using A and S, you can choose to use Z and X for Jumping/Respawn Pointing. Spacebar also works for jump, if you're into that.

Love Update #5, Love on Valentine's Day

This Valentine's Day brings Love out of Early Access, as well as introduces a couple of quick fixes and new features.

Changes:
- When playing an individual level from Level Select, the player now has unlimited lives.
- Controller responsiveness has increased
- Bugs present in the bonus game are now gone
- Love now has Steam Trading Cards, Badges, Emoticons, and Profile Backgrounds. Read more about Steam Trading Cards here.

I hope you spend this day with someone or doing something you love. If playing and competing in challenging games is your bag, we've extended the $2.00 price tag through next Friday, so Love is cheap.

Love is a minimalist platforming game with a retro aesthetic and a focus on a challenging but not unfair difficulty. It has an innovative respawn system, 12 levels, 12 track soundtrack, competitive scoring, and a simple-to-use level creation feature.

The challenging levels are balanced with the inclusion of a simple yet unique respawn system wherein the player can leave a checkpoint at any location at any point, as long as they are on solid ground. Players have a number of gameplay modes to choose from, whether they want it easy, normal, or they want to try their hand at a mode designed specifically for Speed Running.

Beyond the visual aesthetic, the challenging level design, and the abundance of features, there is the fantastic soundtrack composed by James Bennett, which brings the simple 3-color atmospheres to life.

Bonjour messieurs, dames, et preparez-vous à entrer dans une dimension où les Jean-Kevin ce sont pendus depuis longtemps, où on y pratique le sadomashochisme et où les crises de nerfs sont devenue courant! Messieurs; dames, entrez dans le monde ... du platformer! *roullement d'tonerre*

Le gameplay de love est simple: 4 boutons: avant, arriere, sauter et quicksave! Le jeu est pour l'instant en "early acces", mais reste bien abouite pour l'instant, les niveaux sont variés, changant à chaque fois de level disigne et de gameplay, osillant entre les sauts au poil de fion et et les plateformes qui disparaient, n'est en moins, il n'est pas cliché, il aurait pue facillement prendre les niveaux eau,glace et lave mais prefere soit changer le designe pour que cela paraisse different (ex: la lave), soit completement virer les niveau a la c** (nan mais arreter quoi, les niveaux de glace, c'etaient pas marrant au debut, ca risque pas de l'etre aujourd'hui, ce que jeu comprend tres bien)!

Et pour les adeptes des trophés steam, comme moi, ces dernier sont asser retorce à avoire mais pas impossible, le jeu est meme fais pour etre speedrunner avec, par exemple, beaucoup de raccourice et un mode avec un chrono (qui s'appelent "speedru", on n'invente rien :) !

Il manquerait plus qu'un editeur de niveau, du vostfr et un scenar "portaleux" pour que le jeu devienne une bombe indée!

Un jeu pour les speed runners, simple, rapide et efficace avec quand meme un temps de jouabilitée assez correct.
Addictif a souhait pour un prix de meme pas 3 euros !

Love is in Early Access, and I'm aware of that. This is just my first experience playing it and what my thoughts are about it so far. First of all, I must admit I am a bit disappointed because it was so short. My first playthrough took 40 minutes, but I'm assuming they did that because it was designed to be played in Speedrun Mode. Simple controls - A to jump, S to save checkpoint, arrow keys to move. It's not a very complicated idea and there aren't really any special mechanics; it's player vs. environment. Not to say that they need to add more things to spice it up, it was made like that and it's supposed to be like that. Its simplicity is one of the things I like most about the game.

Another thing I liked was that I was really starting to groove and dig the music since I entered the fourth level (yellow walls). They definitely need to get a soundtrack up. Really set the vibe, and got me to enjoy it and just chill. Great job on that.

What's interesting is that the more times I replay it, the more I love it. If you didn't see me mention it just a second ago, you can play the game in Speedrun Mode with a timer and an option to upload to the leaderboards. Now, I'm not exactly sure where the leaderboards are accessible from at the moment but hey, it just came out a couple hours ago. If it's addicting to play now, without a public leaderboard, I can only imagine how much time I'd spend when it does come out. You can also play it in YOLO mode where you only have 1 life for all 12 levels.

First impression was that the difficulty levels were too low but like most games, they introduce new knowledge slowly or how to approach a certain situation then build the difficulty up as you go along. But it's still a mildly challenging game, so I'm hoping the level designers might tweak a few things to make it slightly more difficult. Not Super-Meat-Boy-difficult of course, just something that might make people put more effort into trying to finish it. But until then, YOLO mode ought to do for now. Also, they should really make it so that ESC doesn't completely exit you out of the game. I was trying to go to the menu in the middle of a game and exited instead.

Give it a chance. I wasn't very impressed the first time I played it but after spending a bit more time with it, I'm looking forward to where they're taking Love and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who'd enjoy a simple and cute little indie game.
