Alot of Fixes to online multiplayer

We have sat down to read the most "helpful" reviews which are mostly negative since there have been problems in the game. We really worked hard and took action to fix all those, and have managed to iron them out! I'd like to personally thank everyone who has taken the time to actually write a review of the game, negative or positive. It helps alot to be able to read them! After all thats what we want, a product as flawless as possible!

Just when I boot up Hero Siege and think I'm about to regret it, I end up having a surprising amount of fun. It's like a mix of an MMO and an arena shooter, and the execution isn't nearly as dumb as that sounds.

Although the game is somewhat unplayable to others, i myself seem to enjoy it as a singleplayer and multiplayer game. (during this review) The servers is pretty much unplayable due to connection problems, running at 300ping contant (this could be a problem on my side, not to sure). As for the game yes there are tons of bugs but if you look pass those, the game itself it quite enjoyable. I`m sure the devs are doing what they can do balance issues like classes, gameplay. When you fix bugs, new bugs will form. Not all games can be perfect. If you stay with the devs and the game long enough, i`m sure there will be a point where there is a stable build for HS. Even though there are many bugs, my biggest issue is the fps drops in higher difficulty modes. But this may be a problem on my side. Although there are issues with the game, i believe it`ll be worth it in the end.

I got 8 copies of this game which I immediately regretted when I booted up the game. "Wtf is this" I thought. I was confused, bored, and disappointed. That was until I played it again with friends. Maybe it's because I like multiplayer more, Idk, but it was sooooo much fun! This is the type of game you gotta play with friends. The enjoyment factor goes up 100 fold.

Trying to get better loot than your friends, for me, was the fun part. I loved decimating everything in my path, and just looking absolutely awesome while doing it.

So while I have almost no complaints, the few I have bother me personally.
•DLC is like 10 times the price of thee game all together :/
•Multiplayer is laggy at times, but never as bad as other people have made it seem. (for me at least)
•I want moar pet items!
•Bosses are so extremely easy that it's almost pitiful.

So, The verdict: It's a great game with potential, but the game is most fun when buying it as a four pack if you catch my drift. (unless you wanna play with randoms) It's a short session kinda game, so it's good for a time filler. For example, have 20 minutes before you gotta go? Well, this game lets you stop whenever, so short sessions are nice. -that being said, I played it for like 5 hours straight with friends.

It's really a cool game, I don't like playing any Single Player games at all but when It comes to Hero Siege I can't stop, I play it whole day until I die once.

If you're a fan of Warcraft/Dota styled games, Diablo or Blizzard like games, Then this game is a great choice for you.

It's already long enough to worth the money you're paying for, even more.

Highly recommended!

This game is an exact marriage of The Binding of Isaac and Diablo. It is a really fun RPG as it sounds and highly addictive too.
In the beginning I thought it's too simple in terms of difficulty but then I saw that it wasn't :)
You're gonna love this game, give it a go.
I bought it on sale but it's worth even for the full price.

More updates than an EA game and just as broken.

Hunt down older versions of the game if you're looking for a good time.

Seriously though... with the amount of updates this game gets, you'd think it was an MMO. Or good. It's waterboarded Diablo.

This game is great I bought the game when it was $2.50 but there is 1 flaw and it is ♥♥♥♥ing huge and that flaw is not being able to walk through enemies like I was in the last level of the highland caves and I died by being trapped 5 times in a row perhaps you can make it so that you just walk slower through enemies but plz fix it I am being aniahlated by swarms that are blocking my path but I have to admit it took quite alot of DETERMINATION to play this game because it is great but tough to get hooked on this game

Game itself is ok. But controls are terrible. It's the first time I needed to google a key for "pick up item". I still don't understand how to use inventory and how to sell items since mouse is not supported there.

After almost 100 hours of time in this game, and even purchasing it BEFORE the DLC even came out, I must say, I can't recommend it. Unfortunately the reason I can't recommend this game at least anymore is because of the updates they keep pushing.

The good:
Fun game full of different ways of playing
Good amount of playability and replayability
Updates still being made
Content still being added
Many classes with their own unique builds and skills
Edit: Great devs who do respond to feedback in a positive and kind manor

The bad:
While still being updated, more often than not the updates are worsening the game
Classes unlocked by purchasing DLC
Very slow gameplay in the beginning
BUGS. Lots and lots of bugs.

As far as bugs go, one major part of this game is to have Wormholes (dungeons available by purchasing a key with in-game gold) useable, unfortunately a bug that has yet to be fixed that a few people have (including myself) is that players cannot use our wormhole keys.

Relics are limited now, stats nerfed, classes buffed, then nerfed, then buffed, item stats nerfed, etc. I cannot recommend it until balance issues have been resolved to the point where there's not constant change.

Edit: reworded last section, removed a certain section.

I can't suggest this game in good conscience after the "mana update". Some classes were turned into a joke with that and quite frankly I don't think it was necessary at all.

Where did all the joinable servers go? where did the gameplay speed go? why did the Devs suddenly feel the need to run the game into the ground? These are questions that will never be answerd I loved this game to death back in the day. It was fantastic nothing was wrong with it say for a few tiny things here & there but it was playable for hours on end! I've racked up almost 300 hours of playtime, now I don't play it at all because it's entirely broken. If I had known what the game was going to become further down the line I would have never bought into it, hurts to say but with every update it's just another step from any sort of working concept.

After 10 hours, I sadly think I'm done with this game. It had potential, but it feels awfully repetive and very grind-y as a solo experience. I haven't taken this online, but if my character feels underwhelming after 10 hours, that's not good news seeing as how I couldn't use my campaign character in online mode.

I really wanted to like this game, but i have been waiting for multiplayer to actually work for probably close to a year... I have been following this game for awhile. I wish it would get fixed ... in it's current state it's unplayable. At least with friends this game becomes enjoyable, but after 15 hours I don't want to even pick it up anymore due to the fact that it gets boring without friends... Was a fun 15 hours though... sad day. All this dlc... and it feels like i just threw my money down the toliet my heart is broken. I don't trust indie DLC anymore...

I remember having such a blast with this game a little over a year ago. I discovered it on my phone and liked it so much I bought it again on steam. It was fast paced and every class was very fun. I come back to it now and I am left utterly confused at why the developers ruined this game. The simplicity of the gameplay also gave it a great charm and replay value, while the difficulty of the game was fair and pushed me to to better as a player. Now it is litterally all a grind and for a unfulfilling game. There are loads of reviews with hundreds of hours played that go into every reason this game is now bad that makes me feel really bad for the whole community.

All I have to say is 'If it aint broke, don't fix it'. I wish I had said this about one year ago.

If there is any way of getting the older version of this game I am down for it.

Review based on updated version 1.6.2.2

Even though I played 40 hours in 1 week, I can't say I recommend this game, at least for those who want to play it in multiplayer. The game itself is great, fun and has a good pace, unfortunately it doesn't end there. You may see other reviews saying it is unbalanced, but that is not what my review is about (and yes, I personally consider the characters very unbalanced).

After a 10 hour session on multiplayer, my reward was an item wipeout after reloging into the game. I searched for people who had those problems and waht to do. Apparently this issue goes back to at least 2014. This is serious.
I know it is not easy to create a game and keep updating it over the years with a 3 people team. You can search in forums and it is clear that the developers do listen to players ideas and feedback. There's even a website where you can post your issues so that they can keep track of problems still going on. Nonetheless, I expect them to prioritize things.
They keep releasing DLC containing new chapters and characters instead of solving gamaplay issues of two years ago. If the game was supposed to be like this, ok, but since it is a know issue, it clearly wasn't.

After losing my items I decided to try one more time. After a 7 hour session, as I click in 'quit' the game stops responding and crashes. I had sold all my unequiped items to avoid lost item issues, but this time's reward was unexpected. Relics wipeout. Earlier this same week one of my characters bugged and it changed class and got to lvl 0. Since I didn't really like him, I figured I'd just delete him.

Looking back to one hell of a buggy week, which bugs are all described in the mentioned website, I can't recommend this game for people searching for multiplayer games, at least not until they solve those often reoccurring problems.

Everytime I try this game again it's like a totally different game, and that's not a good thing. Dev seems insistent on balancing the game towards the 1% of players that play the game religiously, therefore ruining it for basically everyone else.

Hero Siege is a fun game, though the DLC's are WAY too expensive since the game only costs about 3 euro and dlcs like 35+ lol, and you need like 3 dlcs for one to fully work which imo is pretty bad if you only want one hero and not three.
Multiplayer still in BETA, get's disconnected and game freezes sometimes but other than that it's fine.
Fun game if you are bored or just want to spend some time on leveling and picking stuff up :P
Rate: 7,5/10 cus it still has bugs on multiplayer. If this game were to be ever bugfree I'd give it a 9/10 :)

Thanks/ Moa :)

Oh boy, where to start?

Well, Hero Siege is a pixel-art Diablo clone. Great idea, looks promising, right?
So at the outset, you need to pick a class before you can go dungeon crawling, leveling up and collecting procedurally generated loot. Something that bothered me right off the bat was the fact that nearly half the classes aren't available unless you pay some extra cash. Call me old fashioned, but I miss the times when you got 100% of the content when you purchased a game. This is particularly aggravating, if you consider that the multiplayer function is BUGGY AS HELL and simply doesn't work. Oh, sorry, I meant to say it's still "open beta", that's what they're calling it these days...

Look, I know I'm coming off as an angry jerk, but the fact is - THIS IS AN UNFINISHED GAME. In its current state, it should be sold as "early access", and not as a finished product. I mean, come on! How many people purchased Diablo because of the single player campaign? My point being: This kind of game is quintessentially a multiplayer game, and therefore - if multiplayer doesn't work, the game is broken, unfinished.

"Shut up, Mordamir, it's good value for the money you paid."
I don't care. You shut up.
It's not about the price, it's about false advertising. Not only that, but there's a bunch of DLC available, while the multiplayer function isn't even working. There's a perfect example of misplaced priorities, in my opinion.

But even if multiplayer were fully functional, I don't know if I would recommend this game. In all honesty, battle is reasonably fun, and there seems to be a good variety of enemies, and all that good stuff you expect to find in a Diablo clone. But the inventory system... I have no words, I really don't. It's the stuff of nightmares. I remember PC games FROM THE EARLY 90s with better inventory systems than the one in this game. The mind boggles.

Anyway, I'm really sorry I can't recommend this game, there's so much potential and even - dare I say - 'personality' in it. It all goes to waste because of yet-to-be-made-functional multiplayer and an inventory system from the depths of R'lyeh.

As someone new to the game it's boring, slow, and the dev(s) seem like real prick(s) from the posts I've read.
Specifically a real vocal one I've been seeing around.
I'd only be able to reccomend this on it's current 90% sale. It might have some good content but like hell I have the patience to grind this ♥♥♥♥.
Don't take my review too seriously I just took a look down there and you can see an ocean of other negative reviews from people with real hours in.
Either way all I see is negative aspects, negative developers, negative communities, and a lot of negative people.
Bring in the damage control boys.

I can't reccomend this game...
I bought this game thinking to myself it would be similar to "Diablo 3" but more pixel like. after having played the playing the game for 30 min or so, i found myself rather bored with the game.

The game revolves around slaying enemies, receiving xp to level up. and collecting potion and other trinkets to further upgrade your character. quite simple.
So you would think they would make the slaugter of foes to be enjoyable. considering that the game is about "kill, collect, repeat"

"NO!"

My one and only issue with this game is the combat.
It persist with walking backwards while shooting at the enemy, and accasanoly dodge fire balls or lasers. thats it. there are a variety of different classes,

But that doesn't change how you play whatsoever. Whether you choose the Pyromancer who shoots fire balls and meteorites. Or the Nomad with a giant (badass) sword and a towel around his head. The game will still persist of walking backwards, and slowly chip away health from the cluster of enemis who walks aimlesly in a straight line towards you

(Bought this game while it was 90% off. and i still wan't my money back)

+Pros
+You can buy sweet ♥♥♥ hats and customize your character
+There's full controller support
+It has co-op and massively multiplayer
+visualy, it's a very deasent looking game (i'm a sucker for retro looking games)

-Cons
-Overall combat (considering it's a "hack and slash" and the only thing you are gonna do is battle hords of foes. that ain't a good sign)

If you enjoy single player, consider getting this game. I only wish that siege mode was playable in single-player.

If you like multiplayer, do not get this product. There are too many game breaking bugs affecting multiplayer right now, it's... a very sad experience, just read the recent game updates.

Currently, I can't recommend this product because I happen to be a part of the multiplayer-camp. If in the future things change, I'll definitely update my review, this game has a lot of potential.
