Note: This is a horror game

I did not know this was a horror game at first. I was suprised. It shows in my underwear.

+ Great story
+ Awesome grapics

- The game takes place in Sweden and I live in Sweden. Some of these creatures I heard about in bedtime stories when I was young, but this game shed a new light. can't go out anymore. Please send supplies as I am unable to get my daily oatmeal.

Holy Gaben, this is some really hard hitting stuff!

Year Walk is a extremely strange game, that may be obtuse at times, but still generates so much genuine suspense and fear that you will be TERRIFIED to play this game for more than few-minute sessions. Interestingly enough, this isn't a pure horror game. While there are some jumpscares, they are not very common. They won't throw you out the experience. A really, REALLY CREEPY experience.

The subject matter is extremely interesting. Swedish folklore is used here to the full extend and it's really fascinating. You are often encouraged and rewarded by checking game's implemented mini-encyclopedia, which is full of interesting reads. As for gameplay itself - it's mostly a point-and-click adventure game, but very unorthodox one. Control scheme and feel is very unique and hard to explain, but it definitely works. Puzzles are also pretty imaginative. They sometimes are a liiiitle to hard for my taste, but I didn't bother to much...

With the High Octane Creepy Atmosphere, wonderful yet terrifying soundtrack and artstyle and some pretty mind-blowing tricks under the sleeve, I can easily recommend this game for all of you artsy indie-hipsters that dare to make a Year Walk.

There will be consequences...

Basically in this game you are a crab walking through the forest trying to get spooked. Worth the play if you have no plans on sleeping tonight. 2spooky4me.

Beautifully atmospheric, wonderfully interactive, and delectably creepy. Very much one of my favorite games I've played this year.

This is hands down my favorite game of 2014. Perhaps ever.

First of all, there is an achievement that requires you to beat the game in under 20 minutes. It can easily be done. I'd say it took about an hour my first run through. The music/sound effects are perfect --haunting and soft. There are a few "Ahhh!" scares, but only a few and that makes them even more special. The artwork is amazing - ethereal is the word that comes to mind. I found myself really interested in the folklore presented. I'm usually not big on reading, but it was really interesting and not overdone. There are some tastefully done creepy scenes. Again, not overdone.

For someone who really struggles to stay focused on one thing for too long, this game was perfect. I was able to beat it three times and get all ten of the achievements without too much difficulty.

I simply can not reccomend this game enough.

In terms of concept, this game is aimed at people who appreciate the darker side of folk heritage. Being based on Swedish folklore that intertwines with a personal drama and a musing on time & space continuum (it's actually less pretentious than it sounds), it offers a haunting and rewarding playing experience.
The soundtrack is excellent (kudos to Mr Daniel Olsén) and the graphics are good enough for this type of game. The game features one of the most interesting lore pages and in-game diaries I have had the opportunity to read.

Gameplay-wise, it is an atmospheric combo of the point and click, adventure and horror genres. I have expected a more disjointed experience, but its strong concept keeps the strings of the gameplay together.

From a purely technical point of view, the game still feels like a port from a mobile device, but, to its credit, it handles the job rather well.

Overall, a solid one!

Year Walk is a great game that is well worth it's price. Though the game is short, it is packed full of content and you'll be entertained from start to finish. The game mechanics are simple and the puzzles are challenging but not irritatingly so.

Where this game really shines is the incredible atmosphere. Few games that I have played have really drawn me into their world the way that this one has. The scenery and the music work together in a way that make you truly feel the game as you play it. I honestly felt that I was wandering through a supernatural forest seeking answers to questions that only the spirits knew. Don't even get me started on how eerily creepy the game was, especially since when I first started playing I hadn't been aware that it was a horror game. Your second time through the game only adds to this as you learn A LOT about the events of the game through a second individual's eyes.

If you're looking for an atmospheric, creepy puzzle game with a deep storyline, look no further. Year Walk is worth a playthrough!

WOW! 10/10
I absolutely loved this game. Very gripping!

Pros:
1. Art style is amazing.
2. Good atmosphere
3. Very creepy
4. Puzzles are well done
5. Interactive (if you played you would know what I mean)
6. Multiple play throughs are encouraged with a tease ending

Cons (none of which are deal breakers in any way):
1. Short
2. Jump scares (I find these lame in anything, others may enjoy it) although one could argue it added to the atmosphere and feel of the game.

Great work here! A masterpiece! I will definitely be playing this again.

Really good game. I love the unique gameplay and style with awesome puzzles. The story is excellent and total tearjerker for people who want to take in the emotion of the game. The art behind this game takes you back to a really old dark cartoon, I admire that. Audio is remarkable, very artistic and great choice in music. There are a few weird sinister moments that can make you jump if you have your speakers on a loud blast mode lol. But overall hands down a very great story, alternate ending made me sad, I enjoyed it.

This is a casual point and click/puzzle games with horror elements. Its more of a creepy feeling brought about by the ancient swedish folklore that the theme of the game is based around. It is not challanging in the traditional way of puzzle games but in combonation with the bleak and cryptic backround, the goals requiring thinking beyong what is right in front of you. You may want to carry a pen and paper while playing this game! I like that. Not exciting, but rewarding and original. Crisp art, information about the folklore and a few jumpy/scary moments it was worth the few hours it took to play through twice... Its not a happy game :)
7 of 10. Interesting game

As a Swede who works as an archaeologist and have read ethnology in university I was looking forward to this "game" since I know most of the folklore the game is based on.
The game was a nice experience, lovely aesthetics, but more of a presentation than a game for me. Not what I was expected, a bit let down.
Not sure if I have seen the "true" ending, but I have played enough of this game.
Hope to see more of Swedish/nordic folklore in games.
Still worth a playthrough.

There are two achievements:
-Do a full year walk without any hints.
-Do a full year walk in 20 minutes.
If you achieve them in the first time you play then you are smarter than:
1. Conan
2. Sherlock Holmes
You should pround. If not, just knows...It's impossible. But when you complete the game (one way or another) you will say...Wow!!! Its a masterpiece.

A creative endeavour that very much deserves to be played. It requires you to put some effort in like taking notes and it has a great atmosphere. It's fun to read the lore and let your mind drift while playing. A most worthy break which doesn't outstay it's welcome.
