I played the Yawhg a couple of times, and I must say it is quite an amusing game. It's all pretty straight-forward: you and/or your friends each choose a character (you can also choose characters yourself and play the game on your own) and choose a location you wish to go to. Each location has a couple of options on actions you can perform, such as cutting wood, tending to patients, and yes, even getting drunk! But beware: each choice you make might positively or negatively affect your stats. After a couple of turns, the mysterious Yawhg happens and each person will have to choose a role which fits their character's stats best (or you can do the opposite, and watch the outcome!), after which you'll get to know whether your town survived, and -more importantly- how your characters pick up their life again afterwards.

The Yawhg is a funny little game which you can play with friends. The graphics are all really fitting and nice, the music is simple, yet suits the game and the absolute highlight of the game is the amount of choices you can make, and the randomnized events you'll encounter. However, the game is VERY short. Almost too short. And that, in my humble opinion, is the only thing where it falls short, for me personally. However, the replay value is very big.

Get it during a sale, or if you like experimental choice-heavy little games like this one.

All in all, 7/10

Cute little choose your own storybook. Great music and art. Really good story-generator with stats. Very short, but the genre usually gets bogged down, in my humble opinion.

Well worth a looksy, but you wont be playing for hours except to explore possiblities.

It's a simple enough concept of a game. Four people go about their lives for 6 weeks, visiting up to 8 locations and choosing one of two actions at the location they choose. Each choice will provide a bonus to the character's stats, and there will be a secondary event. After 6 weeks, the town will be destroyed and you choose a role in order to help rebuild.

That is the gameplay in its entirety. The genius of the game comes from the varied events, how those events can lead to other events, and the beautiful resolution as you're told what your character does with his/her life. Also, the music is well-thought out. I think there's only three separate songs for the six weeks, and they all use the same theme with an increase in tension as The Yawhg approaches. The final song, however, is amazing and I don't think I'll ever grow tired of hearing it. Whether it's $5 or $10, I insist that you pick this up, sit down with some friends, and live life inside of The Yahwg.

In the short time that I've played this game, I already wanted to write a review for it, because it's a quite interesting game. The Yawhg is a very short game, but there are many different options and choices that allow this game to be pretty long. You have the choices of your characters, places you visit, and decisions you make. With all of these options, you can continue to keep playing this game over and over again and get many different endings. I have played 0.2 hours, and already completed two of the endings. So, yes, this game can be short, but if you keep playing it to find the alternate endings, it can end up being a pretty long game. I recommend this game, if you like short gameplay with many alternate endings. I, myself, really enjoy this game.

Really fun game to get a group of friends to play with. Have fun with some narration, get a backstory going for each of your characters and then learn their fates. A little repetitive sometimes, but still fun to listen to each others' reactions as the story unfolds.

What can I say? It is very, very good, but also a brief experience. With a few friends the tales you weave will cause fits of raucous laughter, but they will be short-lived. A play-through takes around 10-30 minutes, and the end phase offers no real-resolution.

A folk music style soundtrack interweaves the basic, but charming presentation of the game. Both are lovely, and compliment one another well.

The Yawhg puts me in a tough place because I really enjoyed it, but I question its worth at $10. I don't usually draw comparisons between price and longevity, but if I paid $10 I can't help thinking I would feel a little let down. There are multiple play-throughs here, but even by the second play you will be seeing the same situations again.

Buy it if you are looking for a fun, memorable experience to play with your friends, and don't mind the longevity issues.
